West Cornwall

£562 - £1371 per week
Book

Rekindle childhood memories and leave all grown-up responsibilities behind by swapping busy city life for a rushing river and starry sky at the enchanted Boskennal Barn. A real rural retreat awaits you at this delightful barn conversion, sitting amidst a well-tended garden and wild woodlands. Discover the delights of Cornwall's coastal villages by day, before being lured back home where Boskennal Barn sleeps four guests with the master bedroom enjoying a Juliet balcony overlooking the garden. As little ones play hide and seek you can open up the bi-fold doors and dish up a Cornish feast on the patio. Later, with the children safely tucked up in bed dreaming of tomorrows adventures, the roaring fire pit will provide a perfect evening for grown-ups to share a bottle of wine.

The brick and wood-clad exterior of this former barn has a rustic aesthetic, inside however, it's a different story altogether. Flooded with natural light, hints of scandi styling, floral linens and deep green soft furnishings echo scenes from the garden. Ideally situated for heading west to discover Lands' End, Sennen Cove and Porthurno beach or head east to the ever-popular seaside town of St Ives. Your four legged friends are welcome too, so with plenty to do within a short drive or for lazing in the garden, Boskennal Barn has magic at every turn.

Holidays in West Cornwall

There is almost an embarrassment of riches for the visitor to choose from when looking at holiday cottages in West Cornwall. With its extraordinary variety of landscapes and coastline, as well as its proud history and cultural heritage, you won't be disappointed.

With many superb beaches to enjoy, including five with the coveted Blue Flag status, it is easy to see why so many people associate this part of the world with sun, sea, sand and, of course, surf. There is, however, so much more on offer when contemplating self catering holidays in West Cornwall.

West Cornwall is home to popular destinations such as MarazionPenzanceCarbis Bay and St Ives, which are all worth a visit. From the iconic St Michael's Mount to the breath taking Minack Theatre as featured in our blog, you wont be short of things to do while self catering in West Cornwall.

Things to do in West Cornwall

Days out

With such an abundance of stunning sights in West Cornwall, you'll be spoilt for choice when choosing where to visit while holidaying here. St Michael's Mount, The Minack Theatre, and St Ives harbour are just a few of the enthralling places on offer. The many golden sandy beaches that West Cornwall boasts are perfect for topping up the tan. For something a little more energetic, boat trips, fishing excursions and water sports are available. Museums and art galleries provide an equally enjoyable day out, with world famous exhibitions at the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth museum within easy reach.

With the bustling coastal towns of St Ives, Mousehole and Marazion within close proximity of one another, you can be sure to find somewhere to provide everything you need to the perfect family day out.

Walking

Cornwall's spectacular scenery provides the perfect backdrop for exploring. The coastal paths which hug the rugged cliffs offer breath taking sea views, while walking inland you can enjoy the many nature reserves, ancient stone circles and woodland, for which Cornwall is renowned.

Art & heritage

Famous for its quality of light, the area has long been a haven for artists and there are many galleries to be found wherever you go. There are also many gardens to enjoy; the mild climate will often let plants flourish here which you won’t find anywhere else in the country. For those wanting to dig a little deeper, there is also an amazing mining and maritime heritage which has done much to shape the county and its people as well as, it could be argued, the rest of the world.

Lovely barn in an ideal location, nice peaceful surroundings and local walks. Easy access to all places we wanted to go to. Had everything we needed during our stay. Back garden was beautiful, overlooking the stream and trees around us.

We would definitely stay here again, beautiful cottage, decent size garden for our teenagers to kick a ball around. Dogs loved the stream, good dog walks in the surrounding area. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio area with the fire pit and a glass of wine in the evening.

Lovely secluded location, with fully enclosed garden for our dog and good walking locally The kitchen was well equipped and the bottle of wine on arrival was most welcome The Aspects team were very helpful from the start of our booking even advising us that the A30 would be closed on the weekend of our arrival.

Lovely peaceful location. The family and our two dogs were very happy and I would highly recommend the place.

Such a tranquil spot, there were gales and heavy rain around the area for the whole week but we're surrounded by the trees and did not feel anything at all, even the river was no problem. The barn has everything you need for a perfect holiday, so cosy and warm, happy people and very happy dogs.

Lovely quiet Barn. Very warm, even in November, we barely put the heating on. Very well equipped kitchen. Lots of space for everyone (although it was just the 2 of us) Amazing walks all around. Excellent service from Aspects staff, highly recommend!

Comfortable cottage in a lovely peaceful location. Good local walks. Great enclosed garden for dogs.

What can we say, Boskennal barn was just fantastic, perfect location for site seeing but on it’s own Every thought and care had been put in, kitchen well equipped, beds super comfy, immaculately clean throughout. Welcome tea, coffee, milk, snacks and wine on our arrival (which were so appreciated after a gruelling 12 hour journey) We really felt at home from the minute we arrived. Jon the housekeeper was on hand if needed Staff from Aspects even gave a few tips on places to visit and we were not let down. The weather was not at its best but this did not stop us having the best holiday ever. Sitting in the enclosed garden with our dogs, listening to the birds and the soothing sound of the stream at the bottom of the garden. We have already booked 2 weeks for next year and can’t wait! Thank you to you all

Boskennal Barn is a stylish little gem tucked away in a peaceful valley. We loved the fire pit and sitting out in the evening listening to the little river which runs past the property ( fenced off) Really comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a fabulous location for seeing many of Cornwalls highlights including St Ives, The Minack Theatre, St Michaels Mount and some amazing beaches. Would love to return.

Another wonderful stay at Boskennal Barn. Look forward to returning again soon.

Exceeded all expectations

This cottage is a hidden gem and was one of, if not the best cottage I’ve ever stayed in (we have been going to Cornwall at least once a year for 20+ years). The cottage was clean and really well equipped with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. The location was perfectly secluded whilst still being very close to amenities and transport links. The stream at the bottom of the garden was perfect for our water obsessed Springer Spaniels. It was particularly handy that the garden was fully enclosed and you could shut the gate to the stream as otherwise we would never of got our dogs out! I would highly recommend this cottage, it’s a little slice of paradise.

Myself and the family had a great experience at perfectly located Boskennal barn.

The accommodation was fitted out beautifully and the dogs had ample room to play in the garden.

I couldn’t recommend this property enough.

We’ve stayed here 3 occasions now and have another stay booked. This is a wonderful holiday home. Perfect location to enjoy complete relaxation and peace, but within moments to reach convenient facilities, beaches etc. The property is lovely and clean, well provided with everything needed, and the garden is perfect, especially appreciate that it’s secure for our dogs.

Boskennal Barn is a real gem, we'd definitely return. We particularly liked the open plan living, the bi-fold doors and wood burning stove. We loved the garden, as did our two cockapoos, it felt like you were part of the forest and the stream rushing past at the bottom of the garden was superb. We liked the fact there were other lights that could be switched on around the outside of the property which made it very atmospheric at night.

The situation of the barn was ideal for us, so many places are accessible nearby. The beds were super comfy, lovely big bath towels and really good quality.

One of the best properties we have stayed in and we were really sad to leave.

Boskennal Barn is a rare find. Great location and ideal for your four legged friends to have room to relax. Great facilities and the location was truly wonderful. We have already booked again for 2024!

We absolutely loved staying in Boskennal barn, this was our second visit and will definitely be returning.

The property is down a very narrow country lane, so if you are looking for peace & tranquility then this is perfect.

The garden is a lovely size with a fenced off stream at the bottom. The bedrooms are very small, but you do only sleep in them.

The open plan living space is modern and well kept, and the log burner was lovely on the cold winter evenings.

Fabulous property.

Boskennal Barn is a lovely clean, well equipped property in a wonderful, peaceful location, yet extremely convenient for getting to everything in the area and beyond. This was a return trip for us and we are booked to return again later in the year - can’t recommend highly enough.

We had thoroughly wonderful week in the Barn. The dogs loved the underfloor heating and large enclosed garden. Perfectly located for everything we wanted to achieve such a fab walks, photography and bird watching. As we went in a really cold snap, the top stone steps and parking area froze, making it like an ice-rink. Also the very steep hill that you had to use to leave the property was extremely difficult to make it to the top with the icy patches. We will return but in warming conditions! Thanks

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your lovely feedback following your stay at Boskennal Barn. We're so pleased that all the members of the family enjoyed what the property has to offer, as well as the beautiful surrounding area. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some icy conditions during your time here, Cornwall has been experiencing some colder than usual temperatures that has resulted in some difficult road conditions. Due to the rural location of the barn we always advise to take care when stepping out of the property, especially during cold snaps of weather. We hope that the peacefulness of Boskennal Barn made for a quiet and relaxing stay! Katy, Customer Services.

We had a wonderful week at Boskennal Barn even with very mixed weather. The barn is so comfortable in a very quiet location. Jon the housekeeper does an excellent job by presenting the Barn so clean and tidy. Would highly recommend staying at this property

Even though we had enough rain to build an Ark the property & surroundings were a wonderful, peaceful haven.. Very comfortable & cosy place with lovely walks from the door...

We had a wonderful stay at Boskennal-it really is an idyllic setting. the barn has been beautifully converted and is very spacious downstairs. It was spotless on our arrival and the lovely modern kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. Really useful to have the washing machine and tumble dryer in the outhouse as we’d been in Cornwall for the previous two weeks in properties without them! The large enclosed garden was great for the dog and a lovely sun trap, and the sound of the river at the end of the garden was so tranquil. We loved the rural location, so quiet, but just a short drive to north or south coasts for beaches/exploring. We enjoyed the suggested local walk - the view of St Michaels Mount from the top of the hill is amazing. Highly Recommend the White Harte pub in nearby Ludgvan for a meal. We will definitely be booking Boskennal again.

I enjoyed my stay at Boskennal Barn so much that I've already booked for next year! It's a truly beautiful barn in an absolutely stunning location!

Boskennal Barn is a gem of a property! Set in a peaceful location, just a short drive to the beach and lots of other places to visit (close to St Erth train station, where you can park and take the train to St Ives). The property is clean, modern and very well equipped - we cooked in the property and had everything that we needed. The beds were the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. It was lovely to sit by the stream in the enclosed garden, this was great for our dog and we were able to take advantage of the walks around the local area too. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Boskennal Barn and hope to be back!

This was our first time in West Cornwall and Boskennal Barn was a stunning base - within easy distance of lots of places to visit, and in a beautiful secluded spot to relax in and to listen to the river at the bottom of the garden. The accommodation is very comfortable (lovely to have a log fire on a couple of chillier evenings), spotlessly clean, and had absolutely everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom (with both bath and shower) really lovely. We’d highly recommend Boskennal Barn to visitors to this beautiful part of Cornwall.

A much needed rest was needed by the time we arrived and Boskennal Barn certainly gave us this. Such a peaceful and relaxing place to de-stress after a very busy few weeks at work and waking up to the sound of the river each morning was just wonderful. We made up a fire on a couple of the evenings which was perfect after being out during the day exploring the local area. We’re so glad we chose to stay here and hope to return during longer and warmer days to take better advantage of the outdoor space that our dog loved roaming around. Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who wants to get away from it all!

We were thrilled with Boskennal Barn, a perfect get-away-from-it-all property offering peace and quiet with a lovely garden and stream, yet so close to facilities and things to do. Property is at the bottom of a valley, beautiful surroundings and lovely walks along footpaths for those able to do so. A few minutes drive takes you to the wonderful White Hart pub, also Marazion, Penzance - plenty of things to do and places to eat. Thank you to John for looking after this lovely cottage, we thoroughly recommend it. We had no mobile phone signal in the property but could connect to 'wifi calling' using the available internet so this was not an issue.

Great quiet location lovely listening to the river

We always book through Aspects and this was a perfect find. So remote and quiet but only 10 minutes from Penzance and 15 minutes from St Ives. Parking outside the property was really handy and the large garden was perfect for the dog. Inside the barn was so warm and light, the modern finish made it a really comfortable and relaxing environment. We will definitely be staying here again!

I would like to leave a negative review so as to keep this wonderful cottage in a wonderful location a secret, But unfortunately I can't it wouldn't be fair to the owners. The location is a tranquil area near enough to the hustle and bustle off the Cornish hotspots to visit .But when you to return to the cottage all you can hear is the river at the bottom of the garden. It is ideal to sit outside in the good weather to relax with food or just a drink. You can also sit outside on chilly nights and have a fire in the firepit. The cottage itself is well appointed with comfortable beds and full equipment to cook any meal if required. John the housekeeper leaves the house spotless and and a small welcome pack is left so you don't have search for your first cuppa on arrival Would I stay again a resounding YES

Boskennal barn was perfect for my husband, I & our 2 dogs.

Loved it & really hope to return.

Our stay at Boskennal barn was perfect from start to finish. The property is outstanding and the setting idyllic, most morning we woke to sun filtering through the trees onto the garden. We stayed for two weeks so handy to be able to use the washer half way through our stay. Our two dogs enjoyed the steam, which helped remove the sand from the many dog friendly beaches we visited. It was also reassuring knowing that they were safe in the surcued garden. The barn is ideally placed to visit south Cornwall, would recommend Praa sands, and the beach at Hayle. It is nice to know that there is high quality property's that allow you take your four legged friends. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Boskennal Barn. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were super comfortable. The outdoor space was an added bonus, listening to the running stream sitting by the fire pit at night was magical.

Our stay as Boskennal barn was just outstanding in every way! The barn is clean, furniched beautifully with that extra special feature of the outside and the stream running just in site.

The property has the complete wow factor that we hoped for when we booked it. We were looking for somewhere quiet and secluded but that had that touch of elegance and luxury and that is exactly what we got.

The garden is completely secure which was exactly what we wanted as we took our dog. The bifold doors were a lovely feature and really allowed us to enjoy the outside whilst relaxing inside.

It was really hard to leave the property at the end of our holiday, with us both saying that the best part about our trip was Boskennal Barn. We will 100% be returning to this property and would 100% recommend it!

What an absolute gem. Perfect and peaceful location. Loved having all the doors open listening to the stream. Great base for exploring South Cornwall. Will definitely return.

A beautiful, well equipped, modern barn conversion that was in a very peaceful location.

Lovely garden with a stream at the end and plenty of seating and a fire pit. Beautiful location that provides a very relaxing and quiet place to enjoy a holiday.

Easy access to lots of places to visit and would highly recommend as a place to stay.

Great service from aspects and the property contact.

A beautiful property in a lovely setting away from the busy coast although a short drive to a local pub and shops in Penzance. Walks nearby and we really appreciated the river with the weather so hot. A lovely holiday home away from the busy coast where you can relax and wind away the hours in your own piece of heaven.

We had a fantastic holiday at Boskennel barn. We loved it so much we didnt want to leave. The location was beautiful and secluded yet it was easy to get to all the local beauty spots given its central location. The barn is finished to a very high standard and anything you could possibly want is there. Our dog loved the garden and the stream at the bottom. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Beautiful barn, with everything you needed. Location perfect. Perhaps your details of the barn could mention that the bathroom is downstairs but that’s only minor. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely modern property in an old barn setting, peaceful quiet location yet only a few minutes drive to supermarkets and the lovely St Ives.

Boskennal Barn was exactly like the photos! It was very well equipped and had everything you could think of. Perfect for dogs with the enclosed garden and access to the river at the bottom of the garden. Great location - not far from St Ives, Carbis Bay or Penzance! Lovely little country pub 5 minutes drive - The White Hart. Would definitely stay again!

The setting we found was stunning. The Barn was really fantastic accommodation, from the underfloor heating to the kitchen, bathroom, to the wood burning fire. It’s furnishings and fittings were all of a high standard, and good quality. Visiting in mid December, we weren’t able to use the outside space, but given its setting with the flowing river at the far end, one could very easily imagine using the BBQ on the patio, with the lounge folding doors fully open! The beds both had Hypnos mattress and lived up to their richly deserved reputation. The welcome pack was very well appreciated, especially the excellent wine. It was nice to have the housekeeper drop by to check the heating was working ok, thank you. Recommended as an ideal location for touring all that mid and southern Cornwall has to offer. Thank you for a lovely break.

Stayed at Boskennal barn for a week. It is a lovely property in a great, quiet location .(it was bonfire night / week and we didn't hear any fireworks which was great as our dog is terrified of them) We were lucky with the weather so could take advantage of the large garden surrounded by trees & nature. A perfect escape from the weird 'corona' world we are living in at the moment .

We loved staying at the barn! The building and its furnishings are top notch. Everything we needed was there in the drawers and cupboards. The position is fantastic - secluded yet only 5 minutes from the nearest village. Lovely walks nearby as well as short drives to fantastic beaches.
