The Cabin, Perranuthnoe

Best for: Lip-smacking cream teas

Just a ball’s throw from the sea, The Cabin in Perranuthnoe is a dream doggy destination. Not only one of our favourite beach cafés and a purveyor of lip-smacking cream teas, but this welcoming café is also a blast for chilled-out dining with your dog in tow - the grassy outdoor seating area is made for sunny snoozes. And, aside from a temporary restriction in summer, the adjoining beach welcomes dogs, meaning your paddy-pawed pal can easily make the most of zoomies along the shore. Meanwhile, the nearby coast path offers stunning walks towards Marazion in one direction and Praa Sands in the other. Arrive, feast, slip your dog a few chips, and leave contented, ready for your next adventure.

Poldhu Café, Mullion

Best for: Doggy meet and greets

Poldhu Cove, Mullion TR12 7JB

Poldhu Café on the Lizard Peninsula is an alfresco foodie institution. Open 363 days of the year, it features both indoor and outdoor seating for treats in all seasons. That said, culinary moments are undoubtedly best enjoyed outside on their ocean-view benches. With direct access to Poldhu’s sandy beach, the rolling South West Coast Path, and a mouth-watering offering of food and drinks (the hot chocolates are drool-worthy), you’re sure to find something to set spirits soaring and tails wagging. Making this beach café even more popular are the informal doggy events it hosts, including their famous pug meets and retriever gatherings.

Alcatraz, Perranporth

If you’re looking forward to taking your dog for a fun-filled day out in Cornwall, then a trip to Perranporth is a must. Home to one of the biggest beaches in the county that also happens to be year-round dog-friendly too, it’s hard to beat. Tempting further, Perranporth is also home to lots of great eateries, including the dog-friendly café Alcatraz. Overlooking the beach’s sprawling golden sands, this sea-view spot is open year-round and serves a menu of light bites and artisan blends. Unlike the name suggests, you won’t be imprisoned here, although you may wish to be, especially once you see the views, and the cakes…

Crowst, St Ives

Along St Ives’ charmingly cobbled streets are a come-hither collection of cafés that welcome dogs and their well-behaved owners for foodie treats throughout the day. Especially inviting, Crowst is a real hit for its beautifully aesthetic and wonderfully tasty brunches. Taking its name from the Cornish word for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack, it specialises in matcha delights, speciality coffees, and brunchy deliciousness, including fluffy pancakes, traditional English breakfasts, layered bagels, and eggs in every which way. Oh, and did we mention there are puppycinos too?

Saltd Surf Café, Newquay

Best for: Pura vida vibes

Newquay has a bit of everything: it has vibes, it has gorgeous scenery, it has year-round dog-friendly beaches, and it also has Saltd Surf Café. Located in the heart of Newquay, this family-run café is a local favourite, renowned for its warm atmosphere and moreish menus. Perfect for those early (and late) morning starts and drawn-out lunches, it offers portions of every size, from hearty dishes to stop-gap treats. Head over for coffee, brunch, lunch, or a giant wedge of cake and simply enjoy the moment with your dog. If you have a youngster in tow too, kids can also make the most of the children’s play area while you happily slurp your brew.

Sabzi, Padstow

Best for: Mezze platters and harbour charm

A restaurant, café, deli, and takeaway heaven all rolled into one, Sabzi is well-known in Cornwall for its big, bold, and brilliantly colourful cuisine. With a focus on Iranian and Middle Eastern inspired dishes (that are mostly vegetarian too), diners are treated to small but mighty menus of flavour-packed offerings full of crunch and zing. Particularly sought-after are the mezze-style boxes filled with freshly made dishes, complemented by a ridiculously appetising array of homemade cakes. Side note: look out for the Persian love cake and thank us later. Let paws patter around Padstow’s harbourside and dog-friendly attractions, before finding your way to Sabzi and taking a seat ready to savour every mouthful.

The Big Green Shed, Townshend

Open on select days throughout the week, The Big Green Shed in Townshend near Hayle is a magnet for laidback lunches with your dog by your side. Inside, wood-clad interiors with pops of colour offer a light-filled space to ponder daily specials, like local mackerel pate and packed breakfast burritos. Meanwhile outside, a suntrap seating area encourages moments of balmy banqueting as your pup dozes in the sunshine. Making this café all the more appealing for doggy days out is the neighbouring dog agility park. Within a few paw strides of the café, this enclosed, 1.5-acre park boasts play equipment and obstacles for endless fun with your dog, including ramps, see-saws, tunnels, hoops, and jumps.
