Shopping in St Ives
From books to jewellery to freshly made food, shopping in St Ives is a Cornish tradition thanks to the cobbled streets and independent shops that line them.
Located only a stones throw from Porthmeor Beach, is 1 Porthmeor Road, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour within the quiet back roads of Downalong. Set over three floors, and sleeping up to six guests, there is plenty of space to spread out and relax, with a spacious open plan living area, perfectly accompanied by the woodburner, so you can snuggle up and watch your favourite film together of an evening. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you might need for dining in, but why not treat yourself to a delicious meal out in one of the many eateries in St Ives with fresh, local, cuisine on offer. On the first floor you will find the twin and double bedroom, along with family bathroom, and stairs ascending to the master bedroom, with super-king bed, which can be made up as twin beds if preferred - the perfect layout for families or friends to holiday together. You are also very welcome to bring your four-legged companion along for your stay, so everyone can enjoy their getaway year round at 1 Porthmeor Road!
Being based so close to Porthmeor beach is ideal for a morning dip and laid-back afternoons sunbathing, after which you can wash off the sea and sand in the hot outside shower, with the sheltered courtyard offering storage for all your beach gear. There are many other lovely beaches within easy reach too, including Porthgwidden and Porthminster, with beach equipment hire and cafés on site, perfect for family days spent in the sun. Being in such a central position, you are within easy access of the cobbled harbour front of St Ives, with a variety of bars, restaurants, and art galleries on offer, or for the more adventurous of your party, stand-up paddle boarding or a boat trip heading out to Seal Island. Keen surfers can join St Ives Surfing School, on Porthmeor Beach, where you can take to the waves with professional tuition.

Great location to the beach and town Very cozy and comfortable house Aspects is very efficient, we have recommended our friends to this company and they have used them

I’d recommend the property especially for a family holiday with young children because of the location and the bedrooms being on two different levels. If you sleep in the to bedroom you can hear nothing that’s going on below you. Excellent if you are gran and parents and children are on the level below.

1 Porthmeor Road is a fantastic house. Really close to Porthmeor beach, but also just a very short walk to Porthgwidden and the harbour / town centre. The lounge was bright and spacious and the kitchen well equipped for the 4 of us. There was plentiful hot water, a decent shower and plenty of towels and bathmats. The outside space was useful for storage of boards / wetsuits. The welcome pack and information pack were appreciated. It was close to a great range of shops and restaurants, but set outside of the really busy areas, so more peaceful. There were works ongoing two doors away as noted in the details, with some noise, but nothing that was intrusive and (aside from the seagulls!) it was quiet during the evenings and at night. If you are looking for a good sized, nicely furnished property in the heart of St Ives and close to the beach, this one is perfect.

1 Porthmeor Road is in an excellent location and is very well equipped for a large family (plus baby) to stay. Being so close to the beach was a real bonus and being able to hear the sea whilst you drift off to sleep is my idea of heaven.

We had a lovely week as always in St Ives. This property was bigger than we have stayed in before as we had our daughter and partner and two small dogs.
Comfortable sitting area, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds. Excellent location and the small enclosed yard was handy to allow the dogs to have a wee last thing and first thing.
Would stay again. We were a little concerned about possible noise from builders working on nearby property as read in other reviews but we had no problem.

The house is in a perfect location. Lovely spot for exploring St Ives.

Loved the location very close to the beach in the heart of old St Ives - very comfortable accommodation so warm and cosy at this time of year. Extremely well equipped kitchen. Just as described. Can highly recommend.

Our third stay and just as good as the previous two! Location cannot be faulted- such a treat to be able to walk to the beach and all shops and facilities within minutes. Very well equipped and no complaints at all!

Thanks to Aspects, our holiday disaster was saved! The property we had booked since September 2022 had been flooded and the holiday was cancelled! Luckily, the owners paid the difference for us to stay at 1 Porthmeor Road which was significantly more expensive. We have been spoilt! I knew where it was, but this house (and it it a house rather than a cottage) was brilliantly located for everything. Porthmeor Beach is literally a stones throw from your door and by cutting down the other way, you're by The Sloop in minutes. This property has been upgraded to a high level: state of the art kitchen with every utensil and appliance you can think of, spacious slate floor living and dining room. For 5 of us, it gave us all our own space. The downstairs utility room with toilet, washing machine and tumble dryer was handy. We used the small courtyard out the back for our paddle board and drying clothes plus the outdoor shower was a hit with our 14 year old after the beach. However, it was the service that Aspects offered that really blew me away, yet again. They were available on the phone for little things like the code for the bins! The emails flowed when I'd had an Amazon delivery turn up after I'd left and they even sent it on to me! Thank you all. We got our St Ives fix when I thought all hope was lost. And in such a fab property! Incredibly grateful.
Mrs Thomas Aug 2023
The property we stayed in was fantastic. Exactly as we hoped. When needed during our stay, the Aspects team were 10/10 helpful and easy to contact.
