Smuggler's Cottage is just yards from the Harbour beach, a perfect Cornish cottage for families or couples, nestled in a peaceful cobbled courtyard in the heart of Downalong, St Ives. The cottage enjoys both Harbour and beach views from comfortable window seats and courtyard. Set over three floors; this family friendly, characterful cottage sleeps up to six guests in comfort, and is also a wonderful choice for couples. Decorated in calming nautical tones with thoughtful finishing touches throughout, a stable door welcomes you inside to the lovely hall with oak coat hooks and natural wicker shoe basket, opening on into the comfy living area with generous sofas and large solid wood artisan coffee table. A lovely warming woodburner, exposed beams, white painted granite walls and local Cornish seascape artworks all create a great atmosphere. The cottage is pre stocked with wood and kindling - perfect for those cosy evenings, making Smugglers the ideal year-round cottage. A glazed door leads on through to the spacious well equipped country kitchen with a large fridge-freezer, and a plumbed Ice dispenser ensuring all your drinks are cool and crisp from Gins to juices, a great place to rustle up delicious meals and drinks. Enjoy preparing your morning coffee courtesy of the Delonghi Coffee machine, and sit in the sunshine as you gaze out over the harbour.
There are three delightful bedrooms, two doubles which both enjoy fabulous views across the harbour and beaches, with the first floor double benefitting from an en suite WC. Bedroom three is arranged as a twin, with full size, very comfortable single beds, so ideal for adults or children. You're sure to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep in all of the bedrooms, being lulled to sleep by the soothing sounds of the sea on the shore. Outside, you'll find a perfectly formed courtyard with bistro table and chairs, Oak Bench and Olive Tree. A sun trap, this is a great spot to relax with views out over the harbour, with the exterior lighting enabling evening use of this sociable space - perfect for inside/outside living. Locations don't get much better than this, surrounded by beaches culture and the culinary delights of St Ives. Wake up in the morning and stroll onto the sand for a dip in the sea, or simply relax on the house deckchairs on the beach with a good book. There are many other lovely beaches within easy stroll too, including Porthgwidden and Porthminster, both with beach equipment hire and cafés on site, perfect for family days spent in the sun. The cottage provides you with a designated parking space at St Ives Rugby club allowing you to come and go with ease. You can of course also choose to park in the Island Car park in the quieter weeks, which is just a four minute stroll. It's very easy to drop off luggage and shopping to Smugglers, just pull up on the harbour in front of the cottage.

Smugglers cottage is a beautiful, clean, cosy cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need and more. The welcome pack and christmas decorations was a very thoughtful touch. The beds are very comfortable with fantastic sea views, so lovely to wake up looking at the sea. Storm Darragh added to our enjoyment of our holiday!! It was so cosy snuggling up by the Woodburner with the sound of the raging sea and wind outside!! We so enjoyed our week at smugglers cottage and st ives, we didn't want to leave. Will definitely be back next year.

We had a great stay in Smuggler's Cottage, it is ideally located to the Harbour which meant we could access the beach for dog walks. The Cottage itself is well equipped, although if you plan on cooking, you might want to take a few basics - oil, sauces etc.
As we were visiting off peak, we could park closer to town than the allocated spot, although at least this tested our fitness levels!
We would definitely book the Cottage again if we return to St Ives in the future.

This charming corner of St Ives is adjacent to Downalong and the iconic harbourside, known as The Wharf, and offers the best of both worlds: serene holiday cottages boasting traditional charm, yet only a few steps from the Harbour beach and the plethora of wharfside amenities.
Mount Zion is where St Ives harbour joins the old fisherman's quarter?
