Shopping in St Ives
From books to jewellery to freshly made food, shopping in St Ives is a Cornish tradition thanks to the cobbled streets and independent shops that line them.
Positioned in the heart of the Downalong area of St Ives, you'll find the delightful Cogar Cottage, a refurbished, Grade II Fisherman's Cottage, perfectly positioned for those wanting to be close to everything yet enjoy a little peace and quiet. Sleeping up to four guests, the cottage is laid out over two floors with reverse level living, lovingly restored to the highest standards, yet retaining features such as the beamed ceilings and exposed stonework, all adding to its charm. Step through the stable door into a bright and airy open plan living space, featuring a well-equipped modern kitchen with everything you need to cater for your stay, and handy cloakroom toilet on this level. A comfy sofa and soft lighting complete the space, creating a warm and homely atmosphere. Downstairs, once used as net lofts and a fish store, has been transformed into two beautiful welcoming bedrooms. Both features super comfy beds, with bedroom one offering flexible sleeping arrangements, with the option of either a twin or king size bed and a further double bedroom, with the compact yet, well designed shower room completing the ground floor space. Being based only a stone's throw from Porthmeor beach it is ideal for a morning dip or laid-back afternoons sunbathing, after which you can wash off the sea and sand in the handy, hot outside shower.
Being in such a central spot, means you have everything close to hand, whether you want to book surf lessons on Porthmeor, take a stroll around the shops of Fore Street, or while away time at one of the many Cafes and Restaurants that St Ives has to offer. If you don't wish to take the car, hop on the train, and ride the branch line to Carbis Bay, and take in the gorgeous coastline along the way. We had a fabulous week in this lovely, obviously cared-for cottage. It is cosy but there was enough room for 4 adults. We couldn’t have been more delighted with the location. All the sights of St Ives (eg Tate) are within a few mins walk, and there are beaches, shops, restaurants even closer! Highly recommended.

This property is ideally suited to enjoy a holiday in St. Ives were all the beaches, shops, restaurants and galleries are within strolling distance. You can spend a day on the beach and then go back and get ready and go out to the bars and restaurants in the evening. Everything we needed was in the lovely clean bright cottage.

Steeped in history, Downalong is a timeless haven that captures the fishing heritage and thriving art community of this enchanting area of St Ives. With all that St Ives has to offer on your doorstep, spend endless days exploring the sandy shores, stunning coastal paths and bustling harbourside.
Downalong is a historic Cornish term for an area of harbourside fisherman's cottages 'down along the harbour'?
