Having holidayed in Cornwall for the last 10 years this property was amazing and is now one of our favourites.

It is in a great location and just a small walk to an amazing beach. The property is well equipped and was perfect for my parents who have mobility issues.

We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed the property so much have booked again for next year.

September 2024

The house is on a great little development with only 8 houses/lodges - great to sit and watch all the bunnies running around. We found the beds very comfy and the additional balcony upstairs great to sit out on with your morning coffee. The hot tub was a great addition to the lodge. The lodge is located about 10 minutes walk from the beach and beach cafe, the beach cafe was only small but the items we had there were all nice. The decking was fenced in and gated, which was great for the dogs to run around in. Great base to explore Cornwall. You could also walk to a supermarket in about 10-15 minutes - steep hills on the way back though. So nice that this luxury lodge is dog friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Holidays in Gwithian

Gwithian is a beautiful area of Cornwall and is home to the beautiful Gwithian beach, a popular location for beach sports and surfers. This impressive stretch of sand is immensely popular with sand yachts and kite buggies as well as being a real hot spot for surfers of all abilities.

Gwithian is a coastal village situated in a conservation area and close to National Trust areas. Here you will find a friendly local pub, three cafes offering delicious refreshments and a surf academy. Being just a short drive to the harbour and beach towns of St IvesPenzanceMouseholePorthleven and Marazion, self catering holidays in Gwithian make for a fun packed holiday for all!

Did you know...

Gwithian forms part of a 3 mile long beach that stretches from Hayle Estuary to Godrevy!

Things to do in Gwithian

Surfing

With great surf all year round, it's no wonder it's a popular surf spot with both locals and visitors. Perfect for beginners and advanced surfers, Gwithian is an ideal place to learn and progress. With a local Surf school operating from here, first timers will be up and riding in no time.

Beaches

Gwithian Towans, Hayle Towans and Godrevy offer three miles of golden sands and the most dramatic coastline stretching across to St Ives Bay. At low tide, with such a vast amount of sand, there is plenty of room for everyone – even horses getting their daily exercise. There are large areas of rock pools and intriguing caves which are great for kids to explore. Visit in the evening and you may be treated to a stunning sunset. Read more about Gwithian Towans and other beaches in the area on our blog. It's also worth visiting the rugged cliffs at Hell's Mouth, which is just a 5 minute drive away, where you can park your car for free and enjoy a delicious cream tea in the cafe.

Foraging

Foraging is popular in Cornwall, and Gwithian Towans offers an ideal place to give it a go. Foraging lessons are available, during which you'll discover everything from how to make seaweed crisps, to picking edible flowers. It's certain to be a fun day out for the whole family. Check out our blog post on Wild Food Walks in Cornwall to find out more.

St Gothian Nature Reserve

What was once a commercial sand quarry, this site has since been declared as a nature reserve. The habitat has been improved with the addition of a large pool and other smaller pools which have been fenced off, creating a safe place for wildfowl and waders. Perfect for bird watching. Dog walkers are asked to keep dogs on a lead so as to not disturb the wildlife.

Walking

From Gwithian, you can walk the South West Coast Path all the way to St Ives, and experience some beautiful scenery along the way. Pass through Hayle and Lelant before finally arriving at St Ives Harbour. The walk takes approximately 6 hours so be sure to bring supplies!

Sandy Acres is the perfect holiday. Superb lodges, excellent location close to the dunes & Beach. Perfection. We’ve been twice and will return. Everything you could wish for and more. Thank you!

Fantastic holiday home. Perfect for a relaxing family holiday. Definitely will return.

A beautiful lodge in a fantastic location!

Absolutely beautifully positioned and furnished lodge, great location ten out of ten on everything.

Lovely location and well equipped property. The hot tub was a welcome bonus Plenty of space for families Nice secure location for little ones and pets. Handy for Gwithian and the amazing cafe. Park at St Erth and get the train into st Ives Very cheap fares and parking Better than car park charges Handy for the local shops and restaurants. The Italian and the Indian in Hayle were very good We would probably come back if we were having a family holiday again

My three and a half year old granddaughter said it was better than her holiday in May to Corfu! Nice base for Flambards and the Seal sanctuary And boat trips to Seal Island and Lands End

Would use aspects again if we find our way to Cornwall , accommodation was really good and clean. Cornwall as a whole is overrated as a place to go on holiday. Places we visited not that nice , apart from St Ives .

We had a wonderful time at Shore breaks Sandy Acres. The accomodation was beautiful and cleanliness was outstanding. Was quite a walk to the beach with the dunes, but this is described in the description of the holiday. Beaches were long and plenty of wind surfing classes available. We enjoyed a few walks into Hayle too and enjoyed meals out there. Location is central to St.Ives and other beautiful locations and well worth the visits. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

A fantastic place to say. Every bit as good as the pictures suggest. We had the most special family holiday in this place

lovely place would recommend to everybody

This was such a lovely place. Everything for a comfortable quite lux stay. Cleanliness was very high and instantly felt at home, and slept well. There were many lovely walks in the area, with beautiful scenery . The beach was close by (10 mins walk), a steep dune though down to the beach. Wonderful to have the hot tub especially in winter.

We all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year at FitzRoy. We were so happy and relaxed there, that we wanted to and were lucky to be able to extend our stay by one day. The house in terms of cleanliness, equipment and facilities provided were excellent. It was lovely and welcoming to see a christmas tree all decorated and lit up on arrival, also saved packing our tree and decorations. Also providing the basic essentials of tea and milk, made our arrival easier. The Hot Tub was a lovely addition in winter, when it was too cold to swim. There was so much to do in the area, Hayles long beach is so beautiful, and the area aroung Godrevy Lighthouse, made a lovely and fairly easy walk. We were happy that despite being the middle of winter we had lovely walks every day which the intermittent rain could not spoil. Hayle beach is about 5 - 10 minutes walk for the fitter ones in our group, for the older not so fit in the group, it was more like 15, due to the steep dune down to the beach. Having supermarkets close by was very helpful.

Good space for 6 adults, very clean and good kitchen equipment. I saw how thorough the hot tub cleaning was, watching other recently vacated lodges being cleaned ready for the next occupants.

The Fitzroy totally exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect, really well equipped. The beds were so comfortable too. All of us had an amazing relaxing time, we literally parked up on Friday and except for a walk to the beach, we never moved the cars until we left on Monday! We all had the most amazing time, 5 adults 2 children and the dog. Thank you so much.

We absolutely loved our stay here, the property was spotless, superbly well equipped and in the best location just a few minutes walk to the Sandy beach but amazingly quiet and secluded with just a few other houses around. We are already booked to come back next year!

Quiet, clean, relaxing. Spotless inside and out. We will return. Thank you.

We had a lovely holiday at FitzRoy-Sandy Acres. It was extremely clean and well presented spacious contemporary holiday home. Inclusion of Nespresso machine, Nutra Bullet and plenty of pans, utensils and crockery for six was provided. Other extras including a hairdryer was welcomed. We will be definitely returning in the future.

Stayed for our honeymoon, unfortunately the property let itself down in some key areas. Wasn’t clean, no bbq, lack of “luxurious” touches for the price. The actual property was lovely and is in a wonderfully quiet location. We will not be travelling back to these lodges and will holiday elsewhere in the area.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are sorry to read your feedback and sorry that we had not been aware of your concerns at the time. We would always expect that guests arrive to their chosen property to find that it has been cleaned to a very high standard, but if that was not the case, we would do everything possible to put that right for you. We can only apologise if any areas had been missed and having now received this feedback, we have followed up on this with the cleaner. We would also like to apologise for any confusion over the BBQ. I can see that one of my colleagues advised that there was a BBQ at the property when in fact, as described on our website, there is a designated area with a block-built stand for disposable barbeques there. The disposable BBQs are not provided. We try to ensure that properties are priced accordingly, taking into account many factors such as the location, views, size of property, number of bedrooms, style of decor and additional facilities like hot tubs or swimming pool for example. This property had been priced accordingly when we last inspected it, but a lot can change in a short time, so we will check this on the next inspection, and we have passed on your feedback to the owner. Thank you for taking the time to send in your review. Tanya, Customer Services

Great holiday great company to deal with.

The lodge was fantastic, it was extremely clean and in a wonderful location. The hot tub was amazing and was maintained daily. We had a brilliant time and we will definitely be recommending this lodge to friends and family and we are hoping to visit again in the future.

The accommodation was superb, could not want for anything else.

A truly wonderful place to stay! Hot tub nights in the middle of the sand dunes - what’s not I like??

No complaints at all. Only happy memories. Definitely will be booking again in the future.

We all enjoyed our stay at Fitzroy.

nice spacious and clean lodge in a quiet peaceful and private location.
