Just returned from a lovely few days in Foreshore. It is a very comfortable, clean and welcoming property. It has everything that you would expect from a luxury property and being set amongst the sand dunes you are tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby town of Hayle. Unless you know where the lodges are you would have no idea driving past that they were there! The proximity of shops and the A30 road enabled us to get what we needed and to visit other areas of southwest Cornwall with ease. The property easily sleeps six people and the little den for children off bedroom two is a wonderful idea. Would definitely recommend this property, or indeed any of the lodges, and will certainly return in the future.

Holidays in Gwithian

Gwithian is a beautiful area of Cornwall and is home to the beautiful Gwithian beach, a popular location for beach sports and surfers. This impressive stretch of sand is immensely popular with sand yachts and kite buggies as well as being a real hot spot for surfers of all abilities.

Gwithian is a coastal village situated in a conservation area and close to National Trust areas. Here you will find a friendly local pub, three cafes offering delicious refreshments and a surf academy. Being just a short drive to the harbour and beach towns of St IvesPenzanceMouseholePorthleven and Marazion, self catering holidays in Gwithian make for a fun packed holiday for all!

Did you know...

Gwithian forms part of a 3 mile long beach that stretches from Hayle Estuary to Godrevy!

Things to do in Gwithian

Surfing

With great surf all year round, it's no wonder it's a popular surf spot with both locals and visitors. Perfect for beginners and advanced surfers, Gwithian is an ideal place to learn and progress. With a local Surf school operating from here, first timers will be up and riding in no time.

Beaches

Gwithian Towans, Hayle Towans and Godrevy offer three miles of golden sands and the most dramatic coastline stretching across to St Ives Bay. At low tide, with such a vast amount of sand, there is plenty of room for everyone – even horses getting their daily exercise. There are large areas of rock pools and intriguing caves which are great for kids to explore. Visit in the evening and you may be treated to a stunning sunset. Read more about Gwithian Towans and other beaches in the area on our blog. It's also worth visiting the rugged cliffs at Hell's Mouth, which is just a 5 minute drive away, where you can park your car for free and enjoy a delicious cream tea in the cafe.

Foraging

Foraging is popular in Cornwall, and Gwithian Towans offers an ideal place to give it a go. Foraging lessons are available, during which you'll discover everything from how to make seaweed crisps, to picking edible flowers. It's certain to be a fun day out for the whole family. Check out our blog post on Wild Food Walks in Cornwall to find out more.

St Gothian Nature Reserve

What was once a commercial sand quarry, this site has since been declared as a nature reserve. The habitat has been improved with the addition of a large pool and other smaller pools which have been fenced off, creating a safe place for wildfowl and waders. Perfect for bird watching. Dog walkers are asked to keep dogs on a lead so as to not disturb the wildlife.

Walking

From Gwithian, you can walk the South West Coast Path all the way to St Ives, and experience some beautiful scenery along the way. Pass through Hayle and Lelant before finally arriving at St Ives Harbour. The walk takes approximately 6 hours so be sure to bring supplies!

absolutely recommendable ! It was worth every mile the long way from Bavaria :-) perfect location for relaxing and for discovering Cornwall !

These houses are dreams! Between the dunes and Gwithian Beach, the house is comfortable, an easy location to get to Penzance, Hayle and St Ives.. Local shopping amenities are super close. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice holiday in Cornwall.

Cannot fault this accommodation. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The outdoor furniture and hiot tub was fabulous. Location is good, being close to Hayle and A30, but the beach at the location is accessed by a very steep and long sand dune, which if you have mobility issues, prams, wheelchair etc would not be accessible.

Beautiful lodge with amazing specification, plenty of easy parking. The hot tub was such a nice treat and looked after daily. Location is excellent, easy roads in and out and the lodges are tucked nicely into the dunes so on windy days it felt cosy. They’re all nicely spaced too so you felt very private. All facilities you can think of have been provided.

We absolutely loved our stay at Fisher, Sandy Acres. The location was perfect and the house was very well equipped. The perfect staycation!

Lovely accommodation, everything was catered for. Clean and comfortable.

We loved our stay at Fisher. Lodge was incredibly spacious and well equipped with the bonus of the hot tub. Location is great and about a 15 minute walk across the dunes to the beach. Would love to return.

Fabulous accommodation in a stunning location. The luxury chalets are nestled in dunes and can barely be seen so are quite and ensure great privacy. We loved the hot tub to relax in after a busy day sightseeing. En-suite bathrooms in every room was lovely making it perfect accommodation both for families or groups of friends. Location was great for seeing St.Ives, Carbis Bay, Penzance and many fabulous beaches. Would love to come back!

Location was fantastic . Great to be so close to the most amazing beach and the little cafe was handy. Hot tub was fab - used it every day House was very well equipped. Had everything we could possibly need. It was immaculately clean which was reassuring in the Covid era! We would definitely return to this property. A fantastic week.

The lodge was impeccably cleaned exactly as described and very well equipped. The situation is fantastic the most amazing beach 5 mins walk albeit quite a steep decline to the seafront . Strongly recommend a stay here.

We loved our stay at Sandy Acres. Terrific location, well hidden at the end of a track and a 200 metre walk to the impressive beach. The property exceeded our expectations - very modern, clean and contemporary - although the whole timber-framed building did sway during the 50mph winds on our last night! Hot tub used most days. Would definitely re-visit. John
