The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Ms Mitchell Sep 2020
Bay Tree Cottage is really lovely, with a nice little garden, is very comfortable, and very well located for the great beach at Lelant as well as for the train station (for a most picturesque train ride into St Ives). The cottage was spotlessly clean. It's also easy to get to some good pubs which are within walking distance (Old Quay House and the Watermill) and The Old Forge is great for breakfast and lunch (every day) and dinner at the weekend. We will stay here again. A word about Aspects as well, their service is excellent!
Mr Mehra Sep 2020
We were delighted with the property, it was clean and spacious enough for us and our teenage kids, the garden provided a lovely setting for dining alfresco, we would definitely book again and use Aspects holidays.
Mrs Bartlett Aug 2020

Thoroughly recommended, it is clean, tidy, in an excellent location for exploring West Cornwall, and has a lovely enclosed dog friendly garden. Aspect Holidays are also very polite and friendly to communicate with, and the owners must be congratulated on this lovely little cottage. Andy & Julie K.
Mr Kirby Sep 2019
We have just recently returned home after our stay at Bay Tree Cottage and we honestly couldn't be happier with our experience. We were made very welcome when we arrived with a little package waiting in the kitchen. The cottage was beautiful and felt so homely with so much space for the 3 of us and our little dog. Everything that we ventured out to do during our week was within 30-45 minute drive, with also being able to walk to st ives with amazing views of the sea and countryside and our little girl had so much fun. Would 100% recommend this lovely little cottage to anyone for a fabulous family holiday.
Miss East Aug 2019
Fabulous holiday in Bay Tree cottage- had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Garden ideal for our small dog.
Only downside is that the station at Lelant Saltings only has one train a day , so a longer walk or short drive to st erth- shame it isn't a request stop more like Lelant station
Mrs Taverner Aug 2019

Aspects are easily contacted and are happy and helpful. The Cottage is within easy reach of St Earth station where you can hop on the train to Carbis bay or St Ives. We had a fantastic stay in this lovely accommodation, and cannot rate it highly enough.
