Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

Fabulous location in one of my favourite spots in Cornwall. Coastal path walks outside the door, Penrose National Trust woodland walk and sea to swim in! Red Sails is a great house within a thriving fishing village and the locals are friendly, the beer is good!

Holidays are the best days to be with family and friends and Red Sails in Porthleven is one of the best places for this. Dog friendly too! The property is not only lovely with fantastic sea views and on-street parking, but is also nice and clean, cosy and well equipped. You can be confident that the beds and bedding are clean and fresh and guaranteed to aid a good nights sleep. Everything you could possibly need is at the property and all in good working order. It's good to be able to use pots, pans, cutlery and be confident they are all squeaky clean. Porthleven itself is brilliant whether basked in sunshine or a bit stormy and great for wave watching. Lots of places for snacks and meals. The Twisted Currant do the best breakfast ideal for the return journey home and the Harbour View Cafe for amazing toasted sandwiches (dog friendly too). Plenty of lovely and original shops, galleries and 'pop-up' stalls to enjoy too. The pop-up cider stall with seating just down from the Ship Inn, new this year, not only offer amazing seafood but also the very best cider called 'Storm Damage'; can be purchased in 3L bags to keep you in the 'holiday spirit' when you get back home! St Ives, Falmouth and St Michael's Mount plus sandy beaches are just down the road by car or bus. The Aspects Customer Services Team are amazing and very quick to sort out any queries or concerns. Like us, you won't want to leave. Jayne Locking, family & doggies.

Great location with glimpses of the harbour and with all of Porthleven’s facilities easily to hand and the property was excellent value for money. The Aspects team were friendly and helpful and quickly resolved a small issue we had with one of the external doors.

We had a wonderful stay at Red Sails. Beautiful house and very clean and well furnished, the view from our room over the Harbour was incredible. Lovely soft beds and bedding. The cream tea on our arrival was a lovely touch. Red Sails kept in touch from the time of booking to departure and would definitely recommend them. Thank you for a lovely visit

Excellent cottage and location, loved our stay

We had wonderful week staying at Red Sails in the heart of Porthleven.

It's extremely well equipped, very clean and comfortable and is an excellent base to explore locally and further afield around Southern Cornwall.

We've stayed in quite a few properties in Porthleven over the years and this one is highly recommended!

We had a very enjoyable week at Red Sails. Lovely location to enjoy Porthleven and the surrounding areas. Stunning views from the master bedroom, great to watch the sun set!

Kitchen is well equipped, which is great as I enjoy cooking. Kitchen table isn’t the most comfortable but big enough for the whole family which is good.

Children loved the bunk beds and the secret compartment in the table! We all loved the front garden in the late afternoon, in the sunshine. The children sat out there colouring and we enjoyed the sun and watching the harbour.

I stayed in Red Sails with my family for a week and we were incredibly impressed with the cleanliness of the property, it really felt like a home from home with the kitchen being fully equipped if you want to cook dinner at home! The beds were comfy and views from the decking were amazing. The town itself is beautiful and has everything you need for a great holiday. The customer service from Aspects Holidays was absolutely superb from start to finish too, we will definitely be returning!

Fabulous location close to the vibrant centre of Porthleven but fay enough away to be quiet. Very comfy beds and great ro be able to access coastal walks from your doorstep!
