The cottage is well appointed and wonderfully located a short walk from the beach. The incline isn’t steep but was too difficult for parents in their 80s though. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with an entrance hall to contain the sea/sand and a covered back porch to dry wetsuits. A wonderful spot I’d go back to again.

In Hayle town you will find a range of shops and bars, a supermarket, charming local pubs and the ‘famous’ Mr B's ice-cream parlour, providing you with a wide range of options for a self catering holiday. The King George V Memorial Walk can be found in the centre of Hayle and is a lovely, level walk, planted with a wonderful selection of unique trees which creates a leafy canopy around the edge of Copperhouse Pool, a large tidal water now a site of special scientific interest. Being just a short drive to harbour and beach towns of St Ives, Penzance, Mousehole, Porthleven and Marazion, a self-catering holiday in Hayle promises a holiday to remember.
Hayle is renowned for its 3 miles of golden sands, which stretch from Hayle Estuary to Gwithian Towans and Godrevy Point. With good surfing and great views, this safe, unspoilt beach is popular with kite buggies and sand yachts, but as it is lifeguarded in Summer, is a great place to spend a family day out. Hayle Estuary RSPB Nature Reserve
Great for bird watching all year round, the Hayle Estuary is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). In Autumn and Winter, thousands of birds migrate here due to it being the most south-westerly estuary in the UK, meaning it never freezes. The estuary provides a great place for walks, but dogs must be kept on a lead to avoid any disturbance to the wildlife. Find out more about the Hayle Estuary.
Paradise Park
If the birds on the Estuary are a little too distant for your liking, Hayle's Paradise Park allows you to get up close and personal with wildlife of both the feathered and furry varieties. With a large indoor adventure play area, a gorgeous cafe - and even an onsite pub, this is one for the whole family.
Hayle in Bloom
Throughout the summer, the Hayle community comes together to put on a wonderful floral display throughout the town. With an award from the South West in bloom competition at stake, and with fierce competition from neighbouring towns, Hayle pulls out all the stops in an attempt to retain its Gold medal, which it has won for 8 consecutive years!
Hayle Raft Race
In July, the locals wear fancy dress and take part in the annual raft race on the Regatta pool. Climbing aboard homemade rafts, partakers battle it out and race to the finish in an attempt to secure one of the winners trophies. Spectators can enjoy the bbq and bar on offer, and the bouncy castle and stalls mean there's plenty for the kids to enjoy. A fun day out for everyone. Read more about Hayle Raft Race.

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.
