The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Great apartment, met all our needs and along with the weather (10th - 17th October 2020) gave my wife and myself a wonderful week away.
Mr Ryan Oct 2020
The apartment is in a very convenient spot for the beach and train station, with a good cut-through, and is spacious with lovely sea views, although we couldn’t make use of the balcony due to the weather conditions. The cleanliness was of an extremely high standard, and both bathrooms newly decorated.
Getting to St Ives by train or the coastal path was easy, and there were many good eateries, including The Rajpoot, The Bier Huis (for Sunday lunch) and La Casita in Carbis Bay.
My only reservation about the property is that I found the mattress very firm, and the settees uncomfortable, but that is just personal preference, and didn’t spoil my stay. We had a lovely week.
Mrs Fisher Oct 2020
Lovely apartment, excellent views, everything we needed was there. Hopefully we will return
Ms Beaumont Oct 2020

This is a lovely apartment, well furnished with modern bathrooms. The location is superb especially so close to the railway line (easy acces to St Ives, Penzance, Mousehole) but the beach at Carbis Bay is so delightful there is not much reason to go anywhere else - especially if the weather is as nice as it was for us.
Mr Wilson Aug 2020

Mrs Kilgariff Sep 2019
Lovely place to stay, our second time here. Peace and quiet here yet within half an hours stroll from St Ives. The train station is less than a 5 minute walk if you want to take it easy £2 return fare, no tying to find a parking space in St Ives. We find Aspect holidays staff very friendly and happy to help, would certainly use them again.
Mrs Baines May 2019
We had a wonderful stay relaxing from the moment we stepped inside the apartment. Parking was great as was location. It was a 30 mins walk on the coastal path and 4 mins on the train £1 each way . The apartment is spacious and very well appointed. Carbis Bay beach is amazing. Family friendly with a wii and games books etc. Fresh flowers and shortbread biscuits were a nice touch Look forward to our next visit.
