September 2024

We had a very relaxing week. The Net loft is private and quiet including the deck area which was great. The decor was very tasteful and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed and the bathroom was excellent. Despite a previous review we were pleased to find that there was a smart tv. We arrived on August bank Holiday weekend and stayed for the week. Parking at this time was not always easy and the Old coastguard car park was over £12 (the harbour is only £5). Having said that we would stay again and have allready recommended Net loft and Aspects to friends and family.

Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy harbour views and artisan foods at Mousehole Deli & kitchen, afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Top tip

Visit at Christmas and experience the magical Mousehole Lights display!

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

We loved staying here and thoroughly recommend. Being able to sit outside was a bonus.

An absolutely lovely stay in The Virgin Place Net Loft. Well located for parking and shops and restaurants. So comfortable and extremely well equipped. Adore Mousehole! A great base for our visit as we were walking the South West Coast Path.

We love the Virgin Place Net Loft. Ann and Heather have created the perfect cosy bolthole in the heart of Mousehole village. We’ve stayed here many times before but this was our first experience of Mousehole at Christmas… a wonderful place. They provided a superb welcome pack and lots of little touches to make our holiday perfect. Thank you.

Lovely secluded spot with lovely garden area.

Our first stay at the Net Loft, though a regular to Mousehole. The location is perfect so quiet and literally not far from the beaches and restaurants. Cleanliness was spot on and decorated to a high standard. The decking area was a bonus in the autumn sunshine. Only suggestion would be to upgrade the TV to a Smart TV for those cosy nights in. Would definitely recommend the Net Loft.

A lovely property in a great location - definitely recommended! Fully equipped and felt like 'home from home'. A great base for exploring but also a great place to chill out in the sunshine in the garden.

Virgin Place Net Loft is a lovely hidden gem. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful with the added bonus of a decking area which was bathed in sunshine all day.

Absolute gem of a place . Really well equipped with lovely sunny private deck and proper sized towels that wrap around you twice ??

We enjoyed this lovely flat for the third time and surely will come back again.

Hi We stayed at NetLoft in Mousehole for a week . Lovely accommodation with the best of everything and super clean. Nice outdoor space and close to everything . Highly recommend for 2 people

Lovely place, great transport system, would recommend the £20 weekly bus ticket, it let us roam anywhere in Cornwall. Accommodation was lovely, clean and comfortable. Plenty of places to eat but flat fully equipped when we wanted to eat in.

A fabulous hideaway perfect for 2. It's location is secluded despite being about 2 minutes from the harbour on foot. Parking at the South Quay was fairly easy - you have to pay £5 each day. Your ticket is also valid for the North Quay. The cottage is equipped to a very high standard. Mousehole is very quiet even in the height of summer. We also recommend Cormorant Cruising - but book well in advance.

The property is in a fantastic location, so close to the harbour. I loved the large fluffy towels and it was really well equipped. Very comfy bed and large outdoor area. The local bus service is excellent, parking in the harbour car park was easy and food at No 2 Fore Street restaurant amazing and worth a visit, but book in advance.

As a fit octogenarian this property was perfect for a first time self-catering holiday on my own. It is more like a home from home, instantly welcoming on your arrival.

I was familiar with Mousehole and the harbour, restaurants and deli (all excellent) are no more than 5 minutes walk from the property. If a Craft Fair is on, it is well worth a visit.

For those without transport, the local bus from the harbour into Penzance Bus/Rail Station is very frequent and buses/trains for those day trips around the south western coastline are all conveniently waiting!

We were so glad to be able to return to Net Loft after two years absence due to Corona. We enjoyed the quiet there during the jubilee-festivities and the patio, best of all the short way to the haven of mousehole - a coffee or tea first thing in the morning sun next to the water - great!

We had the most fabulous week in the Virgin Net Loft. The property offered us more than we expected, with it being incredibly light, bright and really peaceful. An added bonus was the private raised outdoor decking area that offered a secluded (and often sunny) space for coffees & dining and was much larger than described. Situated just a short walk from the stunning harbour and excellent restaurants, it really is the perfect base from which to explore Mousehole and the South/West Cornish coast beyond.

We had the best of times staying in Virgin Place Net Loft; everything worked beautifully, spotlessly clean, seemingly newly fitted out. Instantly felt at home, slept like tops - and had the centre of the village three minutes walk away. Definitely one for the 'come back to' list (not to mention the 2 Fore Street restaurant, which was outstanding)

Easy to book and arrival guide excellent. The accommodation was well equipped for two of us for the week, very easy access to the harbour, pubs and restaurants and bus service to Newlyn and Penzance. Great base for a holiday in the area.

Excellent accommodation within the property with a lovely outside space for dining and relaxing. The location couldn’t have better with just a few minutes walk to the harbour, local shops and restaurants. The coast path is right on the doorstep where you can take in the wonderful coastal scenery and delightful coves. A pleasant walk away is the lovely town of Newlyn selling superb seafood and a short drive is St Just providing all the fresh local produce to prepare your own meals. A glass of wine sat on seats on the old quay overlooking the harbour is a lovely way to end the day! We have booked the Net Loft again for next September we loved it so much.

Just spent a wonderful week at The Net Loft, Mousehole. A little gem of a place. Superb location, minute from the harbour. The outside space is wonderful from morning until evening. Every comfort was prvoided, loved the decor, and the super comfy bed.

If your looking for a quite couples retreat, Virgin Place Net Loft is the place to go. It's tucked away behind another cottage, but still has plenty of light, and double doors lead to a beautiful raised decking area that catches the sun most of the day, and shelters you from the wind on windy days. Although it's tucked away it's still only a 2 minute walk to Mousehole Harbour. Most of the other shops/tearooms and gallery's are situated around little lanes of Mousehole and are still only a couple of mins from the Net Loft. Overall I would throughly recommend Virgin Place Net Loft, Mousehole and of course Aspect Holidays.

Cosy and quaint cottage in beautiful Mousehole. Only 2 mins walk to pub , shop and restaurants. Perfect for a relaxing break at anytime of the year

Superb bijoux cottage. Tastefully decorated and furnished, making the very best use of space. Lots of good quality equipment provided for cooking at home, but cottage is in a great location to easily access the local Mousehole cafés and two pubs. We loved the attractive, decked garden with chairs and interesting planting. The best bathroom/shower we've ever had in a holiday house; everything worked perfectly! Hope to return.

This is our fifth stay in this cottage and our umpteenth stay in Mousehole. Both are very special and didn’t disappoint this time. We will definitely return next year both to Mousehole and the Netloft (if there are any vacancies!).

Had a very nice relaxing holiday in the net loft , I went to Mousehole wanting to relax and got exactly what I wanted , the net loft was a beautiful cosy place in a fantastic location, I do plan on going back.

This was my second stay at the Net Loft this year. Once again the property was immaculate. The kitchen is equipped with everything anyone would need. The cottage is so quiet, cosy, warm and comfortable. The harbour is just a few steps away, there you can enjoy the peace and beauty that Mousehole offers, with an amazing bus service if you don’t have a car. I plan to return next year, can’t wait!

This is a lovely property for two. It had excellent amenities and was spotlessly clean. The location was also perfect being a very short walk to the delightful harbour. The decking area is a suntrap and we especially enjoyed breakfast and lunch outside.

Very cosy and delightful place, lovely decoration. We liked the balcony very much, with the palm-tree and the beautiful flowers. We enjoyed the short walk to the harbour. Thank you! Ruth and Anne

Virgin Place net Loft is everything it says about it in the brochure plus some. It is so quiet and peaceful yet so close to the centre. The decking at the rear is a real sun trap. Mousehole is a delightful village and this is an ideal place to stay. Cant recommend highly enough.

As a solo traveller the Net Loft was so cosy and comfortable. Beautifully furnished and well equipped in every way. Just a short stroll to the harbour to enjoy the early morning sunrise. Perfect peace and quiet. I could not have asked for more. Can't wait to return!

Mrs Marsh

Lovely cottage with decking area. Spacious, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly require for a cooking on an evening.

Great location, sea side decor was lovely and the home itself was perfect for my son and I.

Loved it, couldn't have hoped for more - genuinely disappointed about having to leave!

It’s a very cozy, beautiful decorated accommodation ,with the great advantage of a private sunny decking area ..( sunny from about 8am - 6pm) a stones throw away from the harbour

My partner and I had a wonderful holiday at the Net Loft; it was so easy and stress-free, and the loft itself was brilliant, very well located and well equipped, especially the kitchen. We'd love to come back and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thanks very much!

Beautiful quaint well-equipped cottage for couples. Excellent location, only a stone's throw from all Mousehole has to offer!

Perfect place to stay for a relaxing break with lovely and very tasteful, well equipped accommodation.

We would really recommend the Netloft for a totally relaxing holiday. It was so cosy and well equipped, and we felt so lucky with the location, literally a minutes walk to the beautiful harbour at Mousehole. We would definitely consider staying again.
