A fantastic property a stones throw from the front through the winding lanes of Mousehole. We had a fantastic family holiday there and would do so again without a moments hesitation.

Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy harbour views and artisan foods at Mousehole Deli & kitchen, afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

A fantastic property a stones throw from the front through the winding lanes of Mousehole. We had a fantastic family holiday there and would do so again without a moments hesitation.

We have just spent a very happy 2 weeks at Niver Dewdhek. A real home from home and we wanted for nothing.

We enjoyed the spacious living, the wonderful location with sea views and of course Mousehole itself!

The house is amazing with the view, it’s very comfortable and well maintained.

What a lovely property to stay in. Spotlessly clean and nothing to do except unpack our bags. Beds were made, tea towels, towels and loo paper although we did take our own bath towels as we like big bath sheets. Beautiful house, superb location all booked through a fantastic holiday company who are there to help if needed. 100% in my opinion

Beautiful kitchen with lovely view and sitting room again lovely view and area to do work.

Beautiful cottage. Very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Central to mousehole coast and shops. Would recommend!

Very homely, everything you could need on your holiday. Clean and comfy.

We had a lovely time at Niver Dewdhek! There are superb views of the sea and St Clements Island from each floor. It's easy to unload outside the front door (by Mousehole standards!). There's plenty of space for a family and also good facilities for washing and hanging wetsuits after a day out. The inside of the house is beautifully decorated and equipped. There's a nice open fire for cooler days, or when it's warm you can open the sash windows and enjoy the sound of the waves and watch the boats go by. It's near to the bus stop, beryl bike hire spot, local amenities and harbour. Highly recommended!

Niver Dewdhek is an amazing property – one where you feel your shoulders sink downwards the minute you step inside the front door. It’s set over three floors with magical views out to sea from each, even from the shower. Tastefully furnished, impeccably clean and with every little detail thought of to make our stay comfortable – thank you. Its location as you enter the village means loading and unloading is easy, and the property is peaceful – yet it’s literally a minute’s walk into the harbour. There are a number of excellent restaurants on the doorstep in No2 Fore Street (in the harbour) and The Old Coastguard (sister restaurant to The Gurnard’s Head at Zennor & less than a minute's stroll from the property). Booking advised for both! We had a super stay and would love to return.

This is just the most special of houses, we LOVED it! All very spacious and the furnishings are extremely tasteful. Even on a cold Autumnal day, we were entertained by watching the waves crashing against St Clements Isle from all three floors of the property - the views just get better and better as you go up! The open fire is a big plus and makes the lounge super cozy. Unloading and loading of luggage is also very easy by Mousehole standards! All that this gorgeous village has to offer is but a short walk away from the house and during our stay (last week of Sept) we nearly always found free parking on the approach roads.

We stayed here last year too and it feels like a lovely family home. Thoroughly enjoyed it again.

Niver Dewdhek is an exceptionally well appointed house with all the facilities one could hope for from a holiday rental. Sea views plus a spacious, very comfortable living area & vast basement kitchen make it an attractive property all year round.

It's just a couple of hundred yards from Mousehole harbour & village with its shops and cafes.

The only downside is the absence of an outdoor space.

Look forward to returning, again!

Niver Dewdheck is like a home from home. Everything you want is there. If you don't want to eat out and have to cook a meal all the utilities are there for you. This is our 4th visit I think and we will certainly be going there again next year hopefully,

Mousehole has remained a charming and relaxing village for the past 20 years we have spent many wonderful family holidays visiting. Aspects are a reliable and efficient company to book through. This year we stayed in Niver Dewdhek a charming property ideally situated with ease of dropping off luggage and shopping then park on the main road a few meters from the house. It was comfortable and well organised particularly for the pandemic period. As an autumn break we enjoyed wonderful walks along the coast returning to a log fire and wine chilled to perfection in the wine cooler. A hot shower and comfortable bed ensured a restful evening

House was perfect in a wonderful location. Clean & comfortable. Great view.

Aspects' communication skills could be better.

Thank you for your comments. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your holiday, though we are very sorry to read that you felt our commination skills could have been better. Having looked further into this, we can see that a member of our Penzance team responded to your initial email straight away, so we can only apologise if you have not received this response. It may have gone into your junk folder. We would always respond to any email or voicemail as soon as we possibly can and are very disappointed that you have been left feeling ignored; that is not the kind of service that we would want to deliver. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday; it certainly sounds like this property was perfect for you, so hopefully we will see you back here again and next time, you will get to experience the level of service and communication that we pride ourselves on. Lucy, Customer Services

Aspect holidays is a fantastic company hot in customer care and service. Unfortunately the owners of the property had not been specific enough regarding outdoor space or should I say major lack of it. This property whilst the interior is of a very high standard and is a wonderful location with sea views, it does not lend itself to being able to accommodate a family of 5 with wetsuits and boards. There is no suitable space to be able to dry your equipment and the bins overflowing with rubbish when we arrived. There is access only to the rear of the property which was needs to be made clearer for all guests as neighbours can be an issue.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

It was a shame to hear that there had been a misunderstanding with the outside area adjoining Niver Dewdhek. Unfortunately, this property does not have any outdoor space and is not advertised as having any, as is the case with many old fisherman's cottages in fishing villages such as Mousehole. We can understand how it may be presumed that the courtyard can be used, as it adjoins the property, so to try and avoid any confusion, the owners have included a note within the welcome book to highlight that it doesn't belong to them but can be used as a right of way. Additionally, we have now also included a note on the booking receipt. Whilst there is no outside space, we hope that you agree that the location and standard of property, with all its charm and character, well and truly make up for this. Tanya, Customer Services

Fabulous & characterful house. Superbly located. Would return in a flash! Would be a wonderful destination at any time of year.

Accommodation arranged over three floors with narrow stair cases. Front door is right on main road into Mousehole so can be quite busy. However, the views to read are wonderful and the location is perfect for village access. No parking at property, but local parking (within a two minute walk) is cheap and readily available (we went in December). Would recommend this property and would stay again if we returned.

The cottage is very comfortable. There is more than enough of everything, glasses, crockery, pots and pans so if you don't want to go out you don't need to. We have had three years there and would certainly book again next year if we are returning to Mousehole.

Niver Dewdhek is a well positioned property with plenty of space for a larger family to go on holiday. It is conveniently near a reasonably priced car park and for access to the village itself. Although it is on the main road into Mousehole it is still reasonably quiet. I enjoyed staying in this property with my family and would certainly stay there again.

A spacious, stylish holiday house with a lovely relaxing atmosphere. You unwind as you arrive and it has everything you could wish for. You can even see seals on Clements Isle from the shower! We love Niver Dewdhek and can’t wait to return.

A pleasant cottage in a great location a ‘stone’s throw’ from Mousehole harbour. Great for a family or two couples but probably not suitable for very young children due to the steep stairs. Spacious lounge with views of the sea including the Scillonian passing by twice a day. There’s a large well equipped kitchen with an equally large dining area. The bedrooms were comfortable and alongside a modern bathroom with sea views whilst in the shower!

Mousehole has great shops and places to eat and fresh fish from Newlyn just down the road is a must. If you want to treat yourself you can’t do better than No.2 Fore Street but it’s popular so best to book.

We had a wonderful week in Niver Dewdhek. The house is like a home away from away. Really well equipped with lovely homely features. Comfortable beds. Sea views to drink your coffee in the morning and then 2 minute walk down a path to the sea to beautiful Mousehole

The cottage is beautiful. If you didn't want to go out staying in would have been a pleasure. There is everything you need to make yourself comfortable and happy.

A beautiful well equipped cottage with sea views with easy access to the beach. Very tastefully furnished with lovely ceramics and paintings. A memorable stay

Excellently appointed accommodation with fantastic sea views and easy access to harbour

We have stayed at Niver Dewhdek twice & hoping for a third. I think that shows how much we like it!

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, however take care if booking during Christmas week as you could have a view from your window of food stalls running a noisy generator

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your feedback, and great to hear that you liked the cottage. Mousehole is famous for its Christmas display, so can be very busy at that time of year. In the past, food stalls had never been located there, and we had not heard that this had been planned this year, so came as a suprise to us also. For the village as a whole, they seemed to be a great addition and added to the atmosphere, but appreciate that you may not have been expecting anything like this outside; we are really sorry if this caused any disturbance during your stay, and hope that you still had a great week. Tanya, Customer Services

We had a lovely week in Niver Dewdhek. the cottage was very comfortable, very well equipped and it made out holiday just perfect. The weather was even good to us.

Lovely cottage, great location (we LOVED Mousehole) and beautifully decorated, perfect place for a minimoon especially when the fire's roaring!

cannot fault the property with the views of the sea, just short walk down to the harbour, the bus to penzance stops outside the door. the parking permit for the private parking at the school is a must. the cream tea we had on arrival was yummy and well appreciated. thank you for a lovely holiday

A beautiful cottage in a perfect location. Less than a minutes walk from the harbour but not directly on it so it's not too noisey. Incredibly comfortable and feels so homely with lots of character. A wonderful base for exploring this end of Cornwall.

Niver Dewdhek is a stunning, homely , comfortable cottage. It can be a place to just relax and enjoy Mousehole with it's cafes, shops and restaurants. It? is also a great base to explore Cornwall.

Wonderful, very well equipped, cottage with plenty of space, beautiful views right in the centre of Mousehole. What more can you ask for!!

Lovely house, comfortably decorated and nice sea view. Noisy location at its on the main road through Mousehole and opposite the garage.

Thank you for your feedback; we are delighted to hear that you liked it here. We always try to make our website descriptions as accurate as possible, and whilst we meniton that it is a stroll from the harbour, and the map on the webpage shows that it is on the main road, we appreciate that this can be easily missed, so have now added the detail that it is on the main road, to our description. Thank you for highlighting this. Tanya, Customer Services

We had a fantastic time at Niver Dewdheck, a real home from home only a stone's throw from the Harbour. The only downside is having to go home at the end of the holiday!

Comfortable, homely and well equipped, with a relaxing seaside ambience in a lovely location. Very good value, I would - and will - definitely return!

Stunning views coupled with a great location and tasteful furnishings make this the perfect place to enjoy the best of Cornwall.

A excellent property in an idyllic location. You cannot help but feel refreshed.
