As a new day dawns, watch the burning ambers as the sun rises over the ocean from the comfort of your pillow. Enjoy breakfast in the balmy sunshine on Cair Kinan's balcony sofas, with warm pastries and hot crumpets with lashings of melted butter from the village delicatessen. Sleeping six, with parking for two cars and an EV charging point, Cair Kinan has been a much loved family home through generations, but now, with a new lease of life, the owners invite others to make precious memories with their own families in this beautiful single level property. The spacious open plan living area with inky blues and calming grey interiors, radiates a peaceful ambience. Simply watch the sailing boats set out to sea on a midsummer's day or enjoy storm watching on a wintery afternoon. Located uphill, Cair Kinan boasts a bird's eye view over the picturesque village of Mousehole, with the rolling green meadows as a backdrop. The best evenings are spent gathered together with a chilled glass of wine in hand, preparing a barbecue supper in the garden, using a medley of local ingredients.

Take the short stroll downhill into the heart of Mousehole to spend lazy afternoons sunbathing on the warm golden sand. Peruse the gift shops and galleries and enjoy a light lunch from Mousehole Deli or a mouthwatering dinner in 2 Fore Street Restaurant. The opportunities for adventure are endless, whether it's searching for shells or crabs in the rockpools, coastal rambles or wild swimming, there is so much to explore. The furry member of the family is welcomed at Cair Kinan too and with so many scenic dog walks to enjoy, you will be spoilt for choice where to go next. Walk into neighbouring Newlyn, to purchase the freshest fish in the fishmongers, straight from the boats. Lamorna, Porthcurno Beach, the Minack Theatre and Sennen Cove are just a short drive away too. Cair Kinan is a very special home; a perfect place to spend quality time with your loved ones or a group of close friends and somewhere you will promise to return to.

The welcome cakes and Prosecco were also delicious ?? the location provides a great base to explore Cornwall and it’s a short walk down (a big hill) to the village. Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy harbour views and artisan foods at Mousehole Deli & kitchen, afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Top tip

Visit at Christmas and experience the magical Mousehole Lights display!

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

We had a wonderful family holiday at Calr Kinan everything we could have wished for. So well equipped clean beautiful personal touches such as fresh flowers, bottle of bubbles in fridge, delightful homemade biscuits. The attention to detail is wonderful. Fabulous fishing village with great restaurants and pub. Beautiful family holiday made some unforgettable memories. We hope to return next year. Thank you Bull & Cooper Family x

Fantastic location. Amazing views, well maintained grounds. Well equipped lodge ideal for bringing our pet We will be re booking for 2025 Thank you we loved our stay.

Our visit to Cair Kinan was brilliant!! Very well positioned with perfect views . Aspect Holidays service was great, very informative and easy to use . Would definitely use them again if choosing a UK holiday .

A warm clean and comfortable house with amazing views, the perfect place for morning coffee or an evening appertain on the balcony looking out to sea regardless of the weather

Very nice property and great location with fantastic views plus good parking.

The entrance hall is spacious with seating and storage with a long hallway leading down to the living space (with bedrooms coming off it) has an automatic row of bright lights which is useful however as they are on sensors meant we needed to keep the bedroom door closed to avoid setting off during the night. We couldn’t find a switch to turn them and sensors fully off.

Garden room bedroom is the best with bigger en suite.

It's great to hear you had such a lovely stay at Cair Kinan, and that you took a liking to the gorgeous garden-view bedroom. We're sorry that the light sensors caused a disturbance while trying to sleep, this is not something that we have had reported before, but we will keep a close eye on this moving forward to see if there is anything we can do. We hope we can welcome you back to Cornwall again soon! Katy, Customer Services.

We had a great stay at this property and it will be even better during the summer months. Brilliant location and Mousehole itself is superb-lots of places to eat/drink in the locality and surrounding area. A lovely holiday.

Our stay at Cair Kinan was absolutely wonderful! The property was simply outstanding, beautiful decor, quality bedding and furnishings and immaculately clean. Lovely welcome pack. The view was the most gorgeous we have ever had at a holiday property and it was hard to tear ourselves away from it. Mousehole is the most welcoming village with cosy pubs, coffee shops and cute gift shops. Can’t wait to return!

Cair Kinan is a fabulous property in a perfect location with amazing views. We had a wonderful week exploring the local area and enjoying Mousehole, which is only a 5 minute walk down the hill. Cair Kinan had everything we needed for the week, including a parking space which is difficult in Mousehole! l would definitely recommend Cair Kinan for a holiday and we hope to return one day.
