Holidays in Portloe

Situated on the Roseland Peninsula, Portloe is a small and sheltered fishing cove, much unchanged over the years. Once a thriving fishing village, fisherman today still land lobsters and crabs at the harbour.

Due to its steep cliffs and valley-like cove, this concealed village has a fascinating history of smuggling in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Enjoy lunch or dinner at the local pub, The Ship Inn, serving traditional pub meals and fresh seafood.

Did you know...

Portloe is regarded as one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall!

Things to do nearby

The Hidden hut - a 15 minute drive away. As its name suggests, this cafe is a real hidden gem, overlooking Porthcurnick beach. It serves a selection of light bites and homemade cakes during the day, and holds feast nights once a week, where large portions of amazing local food are served up outdoors. Tickets must be booked in advance for feast nights and customers have to bring a plate!

The Lost gardens of Heligan -  a 20 minute drive away. Rediscovered after being lost for decades, Heligan offers a fantastic day out for all the family. Explore the different gardens throughout the estate, enjoy the jungle with its own rope bridge and discover the history of the estate.

St Mawes - a 25 minute drive away. Head to the pretty village of St Mawes for the day and you'll be able to enjoy a selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The village is also a popular spot for watersports, including kayaking and sailing. Or, why not take a boat trip along the River Fal to enjoy the beautiful scenery?

National Trust's Trelissick Gardens - a 30 minute drive away. This beautiful country house and gardens is perched on its own peninsular overlooking the Fal estuary. Enjoy meandering through the sub-tropical gardens (dogs welcome on leads) and learn all about the diverse history of the grande house.

Walks around Portloe

With direct access to the South West Coast Path, head North towards Caerhays beach and South towards Carne beach. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this stunning coast.

Great location with view from balcony. Comfy beds and sofas. Relaxing time in quaint PortLoe. Good base for exploring area.

Please note parking is on steep slope and garden is open to lane - a consideration with dog.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

It's great to hear you had a relaxing stay at Sunnybank. This property is tucked away in the sheltered fishing village of Portloe, so it is quite typical in these locations to find properties with steep access lanes, which may not suit everyone. We try to warn of this in the website description as well as the garden not being fully enclosed, so we do hope this was what you had expected. Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments.
