Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

We are so pleased you had a lovely stay at The Sail Loft. It's truly a great property to base yourself from for exploring everything Mevagissey has to offer. The views of the harbour are ever changing, and it's easy to lose hours watching the comings and goings of the quayside.

As you have mentioned, the parking space for the property may not be suitable for larger vehicles. We have tried to include precise measurements in the property description so guests will be able to tell if this will be suitable for their car. Our bookings team are happy to help with any questions or queries you may have about this before booking. Katy, Customer Services.

The position of The Sail Loft in Mevagissey could not be better, right on the harbour wharf and as short distance to everything you need for a pleasant stay in this wonderful little village, with shops, pubs and restaurant within easy walking distance, there is a reserved parking space close to the property, Aspect Holidays provided us with an arrival pack with property and local information, access to the property was via the usual keysafe.

The layout of the Sail Loft is sensible and felt comfortable, the property was clean throughout and decorated to a good standard, the main living area was large, seating is provided by a two- and a three- seater settee’s, there is also a large dining table that can accommodate six persons, and lastly the kitchen area with oven, hon and all equipment necessary to prepare and make meals if necessary.

The view from the two living area windows, and the main bedroom window, are fabulous over the inner harbour, you could sit all day and watch the world go by, or TV and Wi-Fi are available to help you pass the time, all heating throughout is by electric radiators.

The main bedroom bed could be bigger for a couple, but has the advantage of a wonderful view and an en suite bathroom, the rear bedroom has two single beds, in both bedrooms there is ample wardrobe and drawer space, there is a separate family bathroom across the hall from the bedrooms, but be aware you will be in sight of the surrounding properties through the clear glass of the entrance door.

If you have any issues climbing stairs, please be aware the property is accessed via three short flights of external stairs, exposed to the elements, not greatly lit and care needs to be taken when using these.

Thank you for your comments - it was lovely to read you found so many positives with the property and that it seemed to work well for you. We completely agree about those beautiful views, no matter the weather, watching the comings and goings of the harbour provides an everchanging backdrop to your day. Unfortunately, to get those great views, there are a number of steps to negotiate, and we hope this was what you were expecting from the description. We always try to be as open and honest as possible in giving an accurate representation of properties and hope that we have achieved that in this case, mentioning it may not suit those with limited mobility. We hope it didn't cause any issue for you and the rest of your party, but if this is something that is an important consideration if returning to the area, please do not hesitate to get in touch so we can help advise you before booking. We hope to see you back again soon. Sharon, Customer Services
