Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.
If you are lucky enough to be here during Mevagissey Feast Week in the summer, do take full advantage of the activities being held. Said to be the oldest festival in Cornwall, it attracts exhibitions, live music, parades, a fete and wonderful firework display.
There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!
Pentewan Beach is the nearest large sandy beach situated a little north of Mevagissey. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1 March to 1 November.
Polstreath Beach is also known as Mevagissey beach. It is located just north of Mevagissey and is accessed via the coastal path and steep steps down to the cove.
Gorran Haven beach can be reached via the coastal path, or is just a short drive away. Just two miles from Mevagissey, the quaint village of Gorran Haven has some lovely pubs and cafés, and a gorgeous sandy beach which is a great spot for swimming and kayaking.
There are some wonderful walks in and around Mevagissey, especially if you take the coastal path. You can head south to Gorran Haven, a small fishing village with a beautiful beach, just two miles from Mevagissey. Alternatively, if you travel north, you can head towards Pentewen, another small village with a lovely beach. From Pentewen, you can take the trail through the woods, or if you prefer, you can hire a bike from Pentewen to explore the woodland on wheels.

This flat was outstanding, brilliantly located and very well kitted out. Showers, linen, towels, and general fittings and lighting excellent. However the beds and their comfort fell very short of this high standard. The large king size bed had a faulty uncomfortable mattress on one side, and the other bedroom had a bad damp problem which smelt, and which stained the bedding and made the bed damp where it was pushed against the wall. We also found the two lounge sofa's quite uncomfortable if relaxing on them in the evening after a long day of exploring. Otherwise, this is a great flat, but there are a couple of things to sort to bring it up to the standard it appears to give from the website.

It really is lovely isn't it? And those views….. We were sorry to hear about the issue with one of the mattresses and damp within the property. The owners have confirmed with us that they have now checked this and have ordered a replacement mattress. They have a company attending to investigate what has caused that damp and will of course get that addressed following the advice from them. Thank you also for your feedback on the sofas; these can be quite subjective things and as we haven't had this mentioned before, we will monitor feedback for now and make the owner aware of your feedback. When you stay in a property for a few days or more, you get to experience things in a different way than we do, so we really do appreciate the feedback; it is very helpful. Thank you again and we hope to see you back soon. Tanya, Customer Services

This is a modern well decorated and furnished ground floor flat, probably the best equipped flat we have ever stayed in, The views over the harbour and coast are superb and Mevagissy is a lovely place which is still an active fishing port. We had a great week staying there only marred by loud footfall noise coming from an upstairs flat.

We are glad to hear that you liked Pencarrow. Being in such a fantastic location, perched above the harbour to enjoy those spectacular views, as you rightly say, involves a bit of a climb if you are on foot. There are also the 23 external steps up to the property which we detail; so for those with limited mobility, or potentially if you are here with small children, please do contact us before booking, so that we can advise. We hope that you agree that the climb is worth it once you enter this lovely property and see those views. Tanya, Customer Services
Great location with good view of harbour, away from the crowds. Can be a tricky drive up narrow streets to the appartment. Clean and well equipped. Aspects were very efficient..
Mr Morris Jul 2018
The views from Pencarrow are second to none. The moment we arrived we were blown away by the scenery. The property itself was clean, well equipped and very comfortable; almost loathing to leave the bed in the mornings... ...almost. There are some beautiful walks along the coastal path and, if you're feeling particularly fit, some challenging runs to be had! The locals are very friendly and good for a laugh especially those down at The Ship Inn at the bottom of the hill, where the food is pretty good as well. A huge thank you to everyone that dealt with my booking a Aspects, you made it all extremely easy even though I had some unusual requests. We'll definitely be heading back to Mevagissey in the future.
