Harbourside welcomes guests to enjoy a seaside holiday located in the pretty harbour of Mevagissey, boasting uninterrupted sea views. This property comfortably sleeps six, with two en-suites and an additional family bathroom. Relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the ever-changing vista of boats, sunrises, sunsets, gulls and stars from the private balcony. It is just a two minute walk, on the flat, to the picturesque village, where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream, eat a real Cornish pasty, or treat yourself to a fish supper on the quay.

Mevagissey offers you an array of restaurants, pubs, and cafes, along with a variety of shops. For those who prefer the quieter life, then the viewing points across the bay are not to be missed, it also sits on the Southwest coast path, for those who like to go exploring.

Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Beaches near Mevagissey

Pentewan Beach is the nearest large sandy beach situated a little north of Mevagissey. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1 March to 1 November.

Polstreath Beach is also known as Mevagissey beach. It is located just north of Mevagissey and is accessed via the coastal path and steep steps down to the cove. 

Gorran Haven beach can be reached via the coastal path, or is just a short drive away. Just two miles from Mevagissey, the quaint village of Gorran Haven has some lovely pubs and cafés, and a gorgeous sandy beach which is a great spot for swimming and kayaking.

Walks around Mevagissey

There are some wonderful walks in and around Mevagissey, especially if you take the coastal path. You can head south to Gorran Haven, a small fishing village with a beautiful beach, just two miles from Mevagissey. Alternatively, if you travel north, you can head towards Pentewen, another small village with a lovely beach. From Pentewen, you can take the trail through the woods, or if you prefer, you can hire a bike from Pentewen to explore the woodland on wheels.

Mevagissey Shanty Festival

The Mevagissey Shanty Festival showcases shanty and accapella groups from all over the UK. The event begins at 7pm on the Friday and will continue on the Saturday at 11am. The main stage at Mevagissey Activity Centre also features a Cornish beer festival.
