The House was a Dream

May 2024

We had a great week at hillcote weather was perfect. Hillcote is a beautiful house feels more like a home when you arrive. The location is good very quiet neighbourhood but a busy road which wasn’t a problem. Wadebridge itself is a great town lots of independent shops antique centre restaurants artisan bakeries and very friendly locals and a lovely traditional cinema 2 minutes down the road. The camel trail was a lovely walk and we also cycled two days going into Padstow and over to rock. There is also a very good winery and lovely local cafe on the camel trail to Bodmin which are definitely worth a stop. All in all we had a great girlie holiday and would definitely recommend

Beaches in Wadebridge

Wadebridge might not be slap-bang on the Cornish coast, but it still enjoys a close proximity to some of North Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches.

Rock – Popular with locals, visitors, and even royals, Rock beach should be top of anyone’s list when visiting Wadebridge. Lie back and enjoy the view from the golden sands, venture into the waters for some refreshing fun, or hop on the water taxi and visit Padstow for a bite to eat and a wander!

Daymer Bay – Lined with dunes and sand hills, and dog-friendly all year round, Daymer Bay has become a popular haunt with families looking for somewhere to let the pack go wild. Although there are no lifeguards here, this sheltered bay is great for swimming, while Braey Hill provides a jaw-dropping place to soak up the surrounding views.

Polzeath – A good one for those wanting to try their hand at surfing, Polzeath combines sand and surf for maximum effect. Visiting this dog-friendly beach at low tide will reward you with an insane amount of sand to enjoy, perfect for some beachside ball games with the family.

Things to do in Wadebridge

Whether you fancy a bit of retail therapy or you want to swap the shore for the sea and head out on an exhilarating boat trip, there is much to see and do in Wadebridge during your stay.

The Camel Trail

Connecting Wadebridge, Padstow, and Bodmin, this scenic cycling trail has been created on the old railway line. The whole trail is 18 miles long and is totally traffic-free and quite level ground, making it ideal for every ability. Hire bikes in Wadebridge and cycle alongside the estuary to Padstow, or through countryside and woodland to Bodmin.

Walking

Wadebridge is home to Saints Way, a 16-mile cross-country walking route that was forged in ancient times by Celtic saints between Padstow and Fowey. The walk takes you past pretty creeks and villages, and through the ancient town of Lostwithiel. Bodmin Moor and the South West Coast Path are also nearby, both of which are fantastic for walking and well worth an exploration or two.

Boat trips & Watersports

The river Camel estuary is a playground for activities on the water, with boat trips running between Padstow and Rock, speedboat tours, and watersport lessons and hire. You can have a go at stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, water-skiing, or banana boating, which is exactly as fun as it sounds!

Shopping

Wander the streets of Wadebridge and you'll be spoilt for choice with independent shops, boutiques, and galleries - not to mention a cracking line up of antiques shops. Pop into Winifred and Mabel for some handmade gifts, Quirky Boutique for a new look, or Wadebridge Bookshop for something to read on the beach. And if you’re looking for a one-stop-shop for all your retail needs, a trip to Hawksfield is a Cornish must, which boasts clothing, art galleries, eateries, and even vintage vehicles!

This is a beautiful house, tastefully decorated and located in a convenient spot, close to the centre of town and shops. The beds are very comfortable and there is ample living space. The supermarkets are nearby and beaches at Trevone and Newquay are within a reasonable distance.

Hillcote is the perfect ‘home away from home’ holiday home. Luxury finishings and top tier gadgets throughout. Every little detail has been thought about! Loved the motion censored night lights and the bath is huge!

Perfect holiday home. Loved our stay and will definitely return. Proximity to Wadebridge town centre and Camel Trail was perfect.

Hillcote is an excellent property in every respect - Comfort, Furniture, Equipment and most importantly cleanliness. It is in an excellent location in Wadebridge within an easy walking distance to the town centre plus access to the many surrounding locations close by. I would highly recommend this property.

Everything has been thought of at Hillcote to make your stay as perfect as possible. The weather was not great but the house made up for that, it made for a very comfortable and relaxing week. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a holiday in Cornwall. This is an outstanding property.

Excellent house finished to a very high standard. The owners have clearly taken a lot of care and devotion to the relocation and decoration. The level of detail is clear in all aspects of the house. We had a lovely time at Hillcote.

Hillcote is a beautiful property and the interiors are just stunning. Every single small detail had been thought of and we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The location is also fantastic for accessing many great places in Cornwall and there are plenty of things to do nearby. I'd highly recommend staying at Hillcote with friends or family for your next Cornwall getaway.

The house is beautifully furnished and more than adequately equipped, we were very impressed by the quality and style of the interior and the kitchen utilities. The beds were sooooo comfortable. It’s perfect for walking into Wadebridge and exploring the wider North Cornish Coast. We had a two year old with us who loved the playhouse. Having the Sky package was an added bonus on a rainy morning as well ??

We had a wonderful week at Hillcote. It was a perfect base to enjoy the Royal Cornwall Show and to potter around Wadebridge. We invited friends to join us for a couple of nights and everyone was thrilled at the gorgeous comfortable beds and quality of everything in the property.

A gorgeous property with everything you need to make your getaway feel extra special. A real home-from-home place with the type of attention to detail we haven't really seen in other properties. The owners clearly have spent great time and expense to create Hillcote and it will certainly be the first place we check availability on again next time we are travelling in this beautiful part of the country.

We loved Hillcote. It's a beautifully presented, luxurious property in a great location. Easy access to many fabulous beaches (Trevone was our favourite) and of course benefits from all of the amenities of Wadebridge itself. Look forward to returning and would definitely recommend.
