Aspects Holidays renews sponsorship of Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue

We are delighted to have renewed our corporate sponsorship of Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue with a £1000 donation, for the second year running.

Prickles and Paws are a family run charity in the village of Cubert, near Newquay who rely solely on donations to rescue and rehabilitate hundreds of hedgehogs each year. With hedgehog numbers declining in the UK, the team of animal lovers at Aspects Holidays were thrilled to be able to continue supporting the local charity that does vital work for wildlife in Cornwall.

Alongside their work with rescued hedgehogs, who can be suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, weedkiller burns, strimmer injuries, and infections, the team offers wildlife talks to educate people on how to make their gardens hedgehog and wildlife friendly.

The marketing team from Aspects Holidays were lucky enough to visit the rescue and see the team in action as they treated several of their current admissions! Marketing Manager Doug Howard, met his namesake, Doug the hedgehog whilst Diane and Katy, the mother and daughter team who run the rescue, treated Doris for caustic burns thought to be from walking through weedkiller and checked on Fortescue, who arrived underweight and malnourished.

Communications Manager, Gemma Taylor says “We are proud to continue our support of Prickles and Paws, and the tireless work they do to protect the hedgehog population in Cornwall, helping to make a difference, one hedgehog at a time.”

Staffed by volunteers, Prickles and Paws are currently located in the family’s back garden, however, they are currently fundraising to build a brand new, bespoke Hogspital! Just outside Newquay, the new site will allow the team to look after more hedgehogs and offer more treatments on-site, to save taking the hedgehogs on stressful trips to the vets!
