Perfectly placed to produce the freshest fare from fertile, sun-fed land and Atlantic Ocean, Cornwall’s foodie scene is fast becoming world renowned – and not just for its legendary pasties and cream teas, but for its modern spate of celebrity chef-run restaurants and events – including esteemed seafood specialist, Rick Stein.
From his humble Cornish beginnings in 1970s Padstow to a tally of contemporary outlets in the north Cornish town alone, Stein looks set to expand his empire by delivering his famous fish and chips to other corners of the county.
Which means that visitors to a range of destinations can sample some of his award-winning cuisine amongst the tastiest draw of them all: beguilingly beautiful coastal locations.
From sit down fine dining to delicatessen treats and of course his top-notch traditional/‘with a twist’ fish and chips, Rick Stein has most definitely left his stamp on Cornwall’s culinary map.
We’ve handpicked our top five eating out/exploring experiences…
Rick Stein, Porthleven
One of Cornwall’s most striking seaside villages, the heart of Porthleven is its stunning harbour, which is where you’ll also find one of Rick Stein’s most enchantingly-set offerings.
Here you can sample dishes inspired by Rick’s travels in the moreish form of sharing platters ‘Taste of the Far East’ and ‘Taste of the Med’, along with fish fresh from the quay and classics such as rib eye steak – all served with endless stores of gorgeous – and utterly priceless – harbourside views.

Rick Stein’s Fish, Falmouth
Cornwall’s hub for all things maritime, it’s fitting that Falmouth is home to Rick Stein’s Fish. The restaurant and takeaway on the waterfront at Discovery Quay offer a lip smacking range of dishes.
Rest your weary feet and sit down for whole deep-fired sea bass, goujons of plaice or Meen Kulambu (a Southern Indian cod curry) or take your battered or grilled fish (think cod, hake, haddock, plaice and bream), scampi or a burger outside for an alfresco feast and fill your lungs with some fresh sea air while you’re at it.
