The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Beachview Penthouse, lives up to the name and the description. We spent a week in the property at the end of August, the property was clean with everything you would need for a day on the beach. The property is a good size with some really nice features, this allows for some quality family time or space if needed. Its location is great for a simple day on the beach, cliff top walk or to explore some of the lovely places in Cornwall.
Brilliant property which we will be returning to next year.
Miss Nallon Sep 2020
Amazing property just as Aspect Holidays had described. We had a wonderful experience and we are certain to book again.
Mr Buckley Sep 2020
Our first time to Praa Sands and we will definitely be back. This apartment’s outstanding feature is definitely the fabulous views
Mrs Leighfield Aug 2020
Wow wow wow, myself and my husband was visiting this lovely accommodation for a celebratory week in March 2020, upon arrival we was transfixed with the fantastic sea views, once we began to explore the penthouse this was soon realised each room came with this beautiful view. The decor was cleverly matched to the open surroundings, this was a delightful comfortable home from home property that made us feel very relaxed. On the other hand the world was unfolding a reality of an unprecedented pandemic.. therefore due to social distancing this gave us both a limited discovery of this wonderful part of our country. We was well informed from the Penzance team throughout the process of booking/payments and information pack that was received prior to the holiday. I would undoubtably recommend to everyone thinking of staying here or the area of Praa Sands and not to hesitate on this as a fantastic staycation.
Mrs Finch Mar 2020
An absolutely lovely flat with all the space, comfort and gorgeous views you could hope for. Just be advised that if your car is anything bigger than a Golf/Focus/Astra and not a high-riding SUV or similar, the parking space will be unusable, so you will have to walk a considerable distance to where you'll have to leave it instead. But that's the only caveat really, as it's a fantastic place with a very airy, light and cosy atmosphere. We will definitely be happy to return!
Mr. Jost Dec 2019
This without doubt this is a beautiful apartment in a wonderful location. It is well equipped, tastefully decorated with stunning unimpeded views of the Praa Sands coast line. We did have a wonderful holiday except for the weather of which is beyond our control. Cornwall is a beautiful location, and the area in and around Praa Sand is amazing for walking. Places to eat in Porthleven are fantastic. Sadly, we did experience some issues where attention to detail with servicing procedures and decoration could have been prevented and consequentially for us did take the 'shine off' what was otherwise a superb week.We have stayed in other Aspect Holiday accommodation without these issues. But again, wonderful location.

We are so sorry to hear that there were a few issues that had taken the shine off what otherwise sounded like a fantastic holiday. Now being aware of this, and having contacted you to discuss it further, we are fully investigating this and will liaise with the property owner and housekeeper, to resolve these issues. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Tanya, Customer Services
A beautiful property with outstanding views.
Mrs Peachey Sep 2019
Beautiful property with some amazing views. Waking up to the sound and sight of the sea from your bedroom window is just perfect. The location is great and we would most definitely book this property again.
Mrs Greenhalgh Sep 2019
Excellent living space with beautiful views. The only disappointment was the area shown for drying wet suits etc. This needs some work to be useable and is very difficult to access when you have a car parked

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. When you are staying in the property, fully using all the facilities, you get to experience the property in a different way than we do, so feedback like this is really helpful. We will pass on your comments to the property owner, so that they can consider them for any future improvements. Thanks again and great to hear that you had a nice time here. Tanya, Customer Services
2nd time in this apartment, very comfortable, with lovely sea views will be back again in April!
Mrs Saunders Oct 2018
Very comfortable with lovely sea views.
Mrs Saunders Apr 2018
If you want sea views this is the place to go. Great apartment, few minutes walk to beach.
Miss Eley Dec 2017
The penthouse is a beautifully presented apartment with spectacular views. Close by lots of interesting places to visit and right on the coastal path. We absolutely loved our break in Praa Sands and would definitely come back!
Miss Glossop Apr 2017
We were very fortunate with good weather. The unspoilt atmosphere of Praa Sands beach, the local coastal walks and advice on good places to eat were really useful. It was always a pleasure coming 'home' to the flat with its comforts and functionality. We would want to come back again.
Mrs Tydeman Apr 2017
amazing views from every room. Fitted to a high standard and very comfortable. You can go truely to sleep with the sound of the sea. Chill out any time of the year.
Mrs Handley Mar 2017
It's so rare to find a place where all the main rooms have great sea views. I really thought the pictures online had been edited to make them look better - they hadn't! This would be a lovely place to stay any time of year - you never get tired of the view.
