This was the second time we've rented The Beach House and I'm already planning our next stay. A fantastic property in the heart of Mousehole, really gorgeous, thoughtfully decorated and extremely well equipped.

The bedroom layout of a master bedroom, twin room and then a single really suited our family of 5. The outdoor area is perfect for hanging wetsuits and towels after a day on the coast. The loving space was wonderful to relax in, we enjoyed playing the games and completing jigsaw which were left with the property.

We have stayed in Mousehole numerous times so understood the parking restrictions prior to arrival. Although we are unable to park at the property other than for loading/unloading we easily found space on the road to Newlyn each day/night.

So in summary, a highly recommended property, beautifully decorated, well equipped and in a great location!

A very nicely furnished and equipped cottage. Everything was good quality and the beds were very comfortable. Appreciated the games and beach gear and only a short walk to the harbour. Overall a very successful stay.

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

Loved our stay at the Beach House. Really well equipped and also so for our dog. Comfortable and cosy. Excellent location and just a short walk to the harbour. May be a good idea to take plenty of £1 & £2 coins as machines in harbour car park currently not taking card payments.

We stayed at the Beach House over Easter, it’s a fabulous cottage and a great base for exploring Cornwall - there’s some nice places to eat and there’s access to everything. Recommended.

Wow, what a wonderful holiday let!!

We have stayed in many of the Mousehole holiday lets over the years, but The Beach House has been by far the best.

On our arrival the cottage was spotless, perfectly clean throughout the whole property and the outside area.

Decoration is lovely, airy, and bright, and the layout of the property is well thought out, with comfortable beds, quality linen, towels and soft furnishings. Plenty of crockery, cooking utensils, glassware etc had been provided and literally everything had been thought of. The outside area is a lovely bonus and has space for hanging wetsuits and drying washing as well as a small comfortable seating area.

The location is perfect within the village. Very close to the beach, cafes and pubs, just a 1 or 2 minute walk away. The cottage is in a quiet position too, we were able to leave our windows open overnight and were not disturbed from sleep throughout our two weeks stay.

The ability to park at the school which is at the top of the lane was a huge bonus as parking is at a premium in mousehole. If you are visiting during the school holidays I would strongly recommend paying the small extra charge to park here as it is well worth it and very convenient for The Beach House.

All in all we felt the property was perfect for our needs (2 adults & 3 teenage children) and we would definitely stay here again.

Nice cottage, nice location, nice.

Aspect Holidays are a straight forward company to deal with and their properties are immaculate and as described on their website ...

The property was gorgeous, beautifully furnished and very cosy and comfortable. Location spot on, with a wonderful deli just down the road which we walked to every morning for coffee & pastries. We are already planning our next trip.

The house is in a lovely spot in mousehole and is super well equipped. Perfect for a family of 5. The team at Aspects are so helpful and really do go above and beyond to provide good service.

The Beach House is ideally located a short walk from the harbour front. Being able to park outside to unload was a big help( not all cottages in Mousehole have this) The cottage is very well equipped and is snug and cosy for a winter break, we spent six days there at Christmas. During school holidays it is also helpful to be able to park at the near by primary school. Aspects provided excellent support from booking through to our stay. Thank you.

The Beach House is a lovely cottage in a good location. It is very well equipped including items for the dog.Very good Covid 19 precautions taken.Parking is in short supply even in December but we managed to find a spot every day on the harbour car park at only £3 for 24 hours.

Our original accommodation in St Ives was not as described but Aspects Customer Service was excellent and they helped us relocate without any problems. The people we dealt with at Aspects were professional, helpful and friendly. Our accommodation in Mousehole was just as described, lovely quiet location and well equipped, beautifully furnished cottage. We would definitely recommend Aspects Holidays and will stay with them again.

We were so sorry that you experienced all that noise from the pub opposite your original property in St Ives. This isn't something that we have known to happen before, and our understanding was that the triple glazing at that property would cut out the associated noise from such a central location. This has now been amended on the description. We are delighted that The Beach House in Mousehole proved to be everything that you hoped it would be though. We know that a peaceful location, whilst being close to all the lovely places to visit in the village, was a high priority for you, and we are truly delighted that this property ticked all the boxes. Tanya, Customer Services

We are regular visitors to Mousehole, though our first time staying at the Beach House. It’s location is perfect, probably the quietest cottage we have stayed in with regards to passing traffic and hearing the seagulls. It’s beautifully decorated and high quality of furnishings. A beautiful cottage. There is a small outside area with a patio table which is great as not many cottages have this. The only negatives we had were that a small freezer would be really useful for freezer blocks for picnics and of course your gin and tonic! We personally found there was a doggy smell as dogs are well catered for in the cottage. These two negatives would not put us off staying at The Beach House again, though would make the cottage perfect if they could addressed. Highly recommend.

We are delighted to hear how much you liked The Beach House and thank you for your helpful comments. The owners have tried to make the best use of the available space, but can't fit everything in there, so a standalone freezer is not something that is provided here. There is however, an ice box in the fridge which should give a little space for some ice blocks and ice cubes, but we understand that it does restrict you a little on how many frozen goods you can have, so appreciate that this may not be something that would be suitable for everyone. Your feedback is always sent on to owners though, so if they are ever looking to make changes, they can take guests suggestions into account, and given that you are fully using all of the facilities there while on holiday, you really do get to experience these things in a different way than we and owners often do, so it really is very helpful. We were sorry to hear that you experienced a bit of a doggy smell. It isn't something that we have heard mentioned at this property before, and as you have since highlighted, the smell cleared towards the end of the week, we hope that this was a bit of a one-off, but we will monitor further feedback carefully and discuss this with the owner if it is raised again. Thanks again and hopefully we will see you back here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Having stayed in Mousehole before, we already knew the village and the location of the Beach House was going to be perfect for us. What we didn't realise was how fabulous a property we had rented!

The property was beuatifully clean and the decoration lovely. Care had been taken to ensure all a holiday makers wants were catered for with plenty of crockery, cutlery, utensils, cooking ware, games, books, beach toys, camping chairs, blankets, comfortable seating and even toiletries supplied.

The 2 recpetion areas meant we (2 adults, 3 children) had more than enough room to relax and enjoy our holiday. The outdoor space is small but a really useful area to hang out wetsuits etc. The bedrooms were ligh and airy with comfortable beds. The bathroom had a decent shower and a large bath. Finally the kitchen was well appointed and equipped... it even had a wine cooler!

Overall this property was excellent value for money for a holiday home in Mousehole. We would definitely return to stay at the Beach House. Thank you!

A lovely house to explore beautiful Mousehole from.

Neat and comfy little cottage in beautiful mousehole.

We stayed at the beach house for 5 nights, wish we could of stayed longer, everything was great ,the log burner is my favourite, after being out most days. It was perfect to get cosy . The location is perfect the parking was ok to. We would definitely go back thank you cockerill family ????

The Beach House offers quiet seclusion, yet it’s only a two minute walk to the bustling harbour. It was the perfect retreat for the two of us, although the other two family bedrooms looked equally as inviting as ours, so I’m sure children would also adore staying here. Spotlessly clean and welcoming, with every convenience thought of. The WiFi was a real bonus as we didn’t have a phone signal here. Very comfy bed and fluffy white towels, always makes a difference. The Bramley toiletries in the bathroom were a nice surprise, made in Somerset and divine! Local parking is an issue to be aware of in advance, although we had no problem in mid September parking in the harbour car park for £3 for 24hrs. A small number of local eateries in Mousehole but something for everyone, either eat in or take away. The icecream shop is a must and we found a double scoop every day mandatory! If you want bigger shops (we didn’t) you’ll be spoilt for choice in Penzance. Highly recommend the Cormorant boat trip from Mousehole - skipper Neil (Mousehole born and bred, 30 years working on the lifeboat and elsewhere) was an excellent guide. We also took the 3 hour wildlife trip with Mermaid Pleasure Cruises and were lucky enough to see porpoises, dolphins, seals and seabirds close up - not to mention stunning scenery. All in all, don’t hesitate - just book!

This little cottage is lovely you’ll have everything you need here including books and games for children. Mousehole is such a nice place. Everything is within walking distance from the cottage. Would recommend to anyone.
