Aspects Holidays join Children's Hospice South West Business Club

We are thrilled to announce we have become proud members of Children’s Hospice South West Business Club, a dedicated community of businesses supporting families across the South West. Our donation to the Business Club will help fund ongoing hospice, emergency, end-of-life and bereavement care for families who face an uncertain future.

Founded in 1991 by Eddie and late wife Jill, who travelled four hours to a hospice with their two children who needed additional care and support, they decided to create a hospice of their own in the South West, to help families in the same position. 33 years later and Children’s Hospice South West now owns and operates three facilities, Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in Cornwall.

Little Harbour Hospice in Cornwall

As a Business Club member we were invited to Little Harbour in St Austell to meet the team, have a tour of the facility and see where the donations go. Set in the Cornish countryside, Little Harbour is a purpose-built facility offering a home-from-home environment, where families with children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions can receive respite care and support.

Meeting the Care Team at Little Harbour Hospice in Cornwall

After a talk from the Care Team explaining how they support the children and their families, we were guided around the hospice by Amanda Masters (Area Fundraiser) and saw the specially designed rooms for both the children and their families, hydrotherapy pool, games room with activities and computer games, the very fun messy playroom for art, crafts, sand and water play and a beautiful multi-sensory room, soft play room, an abundance of different toys and games and a wonderful garden with a range of outdoor activities, plenty of space and lovely views. The amenities at Little Harbour allow families who often are unable to use such facilities in everyday life, to get involved in fun and therapeutic activities with their children.

From the relaxing multi-sensory room to the energetic soft play and rejuvenating hydro-pool, families can make the most of their time together in an accessible and adaptable environment. The care teams are on hand 24/7, offering over the phone support as well as home visits and residential stays. They also offered tailored support to parents and siblings with designated groups and activities.

Little Harbour supports 120 families each year, with annual costs of £3 million they are always looking for support and donations in many ways! From donating goods to one of their charity shops to sponsoring a nurse, skydiving or running a marathon!
