On a gloriously sunny day in July, a small team of us headed to the beautiful Moonfleet in St Mawes to meet with Donna from Donna’s Cornish Kitchen. Providing private baking sessions, Donna travels to your holiday home, bringing everything that’s needed so that you can simply relax and enjoy the experience of baking authentic Cornish pasties and/or cream teas from the comfort of your holiday home.  

From the moment we opened the door and welcomed Donna into Moonfleet, we felt comfortable, at ease, and excited to get started, thanks to her warm and friendly manner. We loved hearing about how Donna’s recipes have been passed down through generations; her business was inspired by fond memories of baking pasties with her aunt.  

We were delighted to have the opportunity to try out this experience, and stepping into the kitchen, we pretended we were on holiday and set to making lunch!  

Learning the process from scratch, including the all-important process of how to crimp, we enjoyed each element and carefully followed the steps demonstrated by Donna, just as she was taught by her aunt. As our pasties took shape, we felt proud to be creating our own pasties and eagerly awaited the final result!

As the aroma of pasties filled the kitchen, we made Cornish Fairings, another traditional bake from Cornwall, while waiting for the pasties to cook. Once cooked, we switched the pasties for the fairings and sat down to devour our handmade lunch while soaking up the beautiful views and scenery at Moonfleet.
