Boscastle is a picturesque, historic harbour village located on the North coast of Cornwall between Tintagel and Bude. This charming village welcomes guests from all over the world, and it’s easy to see why with its impressive landscape; a narrow valley leading to a distinctive natural harbour surrounded by impressive, rugged cliffs.

Situated in a National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) on the north coast of Cornwall, Boscastle is a true gem nestled into the inspiring coastal scenery. Visit this historic fishing village and you’ll find quaint cafes and tearooms, galleries, potteries and even a witchcraft museum! Don your walking boots and venture past the natural harbour and along the coast path to Warren Point to give you an alternative view of the harbour, or to commanding Wilapark headland in the other direction.

Things to do in Boscastle

While you’re in Boscastle, there’s a few things to tick off the list, firstly the National Trust Visitor Centre. It’s certainly worthwhile learning more about the history of the village, from the importance of the Botterell family to the significance of the commercial port throughout the 19th Century. Secondly, whilst learning about the village, why not stop off at the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic to find out more about the fascinating and intriguing history of witchcraft in Cornwall. 

After these educational experiences, coffee and cake will certainly be in order! With a selection of quaint tea rooms and cafes in the village, you’ll be spoilt for choice! 

For those into art and crafts, there’s a selection of art galleries and potteries in the village worth visiting too.

Boscastle Walking Week

Boscastle Walking Week is an annual event which has grown in popularity over the years. Organised by local people with local knowledge, you'll be guided on some of the most beautiful walks along the Cornish coastline, amid woods and streams and on rambles to secluded waterfalls.

On selected dates during December, board the Santa Express to Santa's grotto where children will recieve a gift from Father Christmas. There will also be children's entertainment, mince pies, and mulled wine for the adults!

Padstow 'Obby Oss' Festival

This colourful tradition that takes place in the harbour town of Padstow. Locals decorate the town with flags, flowers, greenery and a flagpole. The crowds are greeted by the swirling and dancing 'osses' who parade through the town, followed by the 'Teazer' who dances along behind.

Walks around Boscastle

If you’re a keen walker, then the walks from Boscastle won’t disappoint! With easy access to the South West Coast Path in both directions, you’re promised breathtaking views whichever direction you choose to follow. Head north along the coast path to Crackington Haven, and south towards the famous Tintagel Castle, via the 317ft high promontory of Wilapark.
