Holidays at The Wharf

Many of our cottages at The Wharf overlook the working harbour of St Ives. Here you'll find fishing boats, a gorgeous sandy beach and in the summer season you can take advantage of the boat trips on offer. Home to The RNLI, The St Ives Lifeboat Station is close by and is a popular attraction with tourists.

The Wharf, otherwise known as St Ives harbour, is a hive of activity throughout the year. With a continual hustle and bustle on the water and along the harbour front, there is always plenty to do and see while self catering at the Wharf, even at the quieter times of the year.  It’s an ever changing scene so perfect for those artists among you. Don’t forget about the very sheltered, sandy Harbour Beach, a perfect sun-trap in the heart of town and a great place to find seaglass and sea pottery! As night falls at the end of another perfect day, St Ives comes alive with a selection of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit every pocket and every taste in a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Top tip

Be careful of the seagulls when eating at The Wharf.

Things to do on The Wharf

Boat Trips

Why not enjoy the scenery by boat and explore the coastline with an excursion with St Ives Boat Trips. Fishing trips are available for those looking for a bit of adventure, or for a more relaxing experience, a visit to seal island lets you see seals basking on the rocks at certain times of year.

Eating and Drinking

The Wharf is home to a wide selection of restaurants and cafes, serving up fresh fish and chips to gourmet burgers, with something to suit everyone. Enjoy an ice cream or Cornish pasty and watch the world go by on the harbour front, but remember to keep your wits about you; seagulls in St Ives are renowned for swooping in and stealing food right from your hands!

Smeaton's Pier

From here you'll get a stunning view of the harbour, and an up close view of the crystal clear waters. At the entrance to the pier you'll find St Leonard's Chapel; originally dedicated for local fisherman, it is now a museum and memorial for the fisherman of St Ives.

Lifeboat station

Home to the new £1.5 million lifeboat, the RNLI lifeboat station is a popular attraction for visitors to St Ives. The gift shop next door sells souvenirs where all profits go towards helping to save lives at sea.

Perfectly located and very well furnished accommodation. Beautiful views and having a pasty shop next door was a bonus if only for the baking smells! We went in January and it was very good value for money. Definitely recommended.

I go to St Ives most years and always use Aspects as I like their customer service and overall have stayed at some lovely properties. But I have had disappointments too. I think more checks need to be made to ensure the comfort of the basics such as sofas, beds and pillows. Maybe bring your own pillows. I couldn’t as I was travelling by train. These things can spoil a holiday.

We are glad to hear that you have always liked the service that you receive and we completely understand how important it is to get a good night's sleep and feel comfortable in a property. It can however be very difficult to find things like mattresses, sofas and soft furnishings that will suit everyone's taste, everyone being different; and it is disappointing to hear that these were not to your preference. We always check on their condition when we inspect properties but will monitor feedback over the coming months. Thanks for your review and we hope that you still had a lovely time here in St Ives. The location of the Quarter Deck in front of the harbour is perfect for walking to the shops, the bars and restaurants and to the four main beaches in St. Ives too.

We would also like to thank the lovely Nicole from Aspect Holidays who was there to help us if needs be.

For example, when we first arrived there was a problem with the lock to get in, but this was no problem and a locksmith was arranged within minutes, so they had us in the apartment in no time!

We have already booked again for next year as we loved it so much. My wife loves sitting in the chair in the window watching the harbour and simply people watching.

We didn’t want to leave and will be back next year.

Another great stay at this property. Fantastic location and very comfortable. We love it!

The location of the Quarterdeck is wonderful and the big windows make it great for a bit of people watching and enjoying the beautiful view of the harbour! I was a bit disappointed when we arrived though as I feel the photos are a little deceiving. They are clearly quite old as the Quarterdeck is definitely in need of a lick of paint and a bit of love now! Despite that, if you are looking for the best location, then this is it!

We are glad that you liked it here and enjoyed those fantastic views. We were sorry to hear that you were a little disappointed in the property though. A lot can happen in properties in a short amount of time, so we will pass on your comments to the property owner and check on this and highlight it in our next inspection if it still needs addressing at that time. Thanks again and hopefully we will see you back in Cornwall soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Just returned from a fabulous week at The Quarterdeck. Apartment exactly as described, clean and comfortable with the best view over the harbour. Although we missed the luxury of a washing machine and dishwasher we felt compensated because of the reasonable price. Booked again for next year..can't wait!

Excellent location Aspect services superb property a little dated and in need of decoration

We aim to offer a wide range of properties that we hope will meet the different budgets, differing requirements and individual tastes. Your comments are automatically sent on to the property owners, so that they can consider any suggestions for future improvements though, so thank you for the helpful comments and we hope to see you back soon. We stayed at the quarterdeck recently, and it truly is an amazing apartment with views to die for,it is very well equipped with everything you would need for cooking an evening meal,we loved just sitting in the window, people watching and watching the tide ebb in and out of the harbour,it was very warm and cosy, and we will definitely be returning to this lovely apartment, very soon, location location.perfect holiday in beautiful st ives.

Another fabulous stay at the Quarterdeck. Already booked it again for next year.

Beautiful well equipped flat, fantastic location, amazing views. We love it!

Brilliant apartment great view every thing you need for a lovely holiday .booked again next year .

Probably the best spot in St Ives for people watching

Great place to stay, central to everything with views to die for.comfortable clean.paradise for people watching, already booked again.

The Quarterdeck is a lovely apartment. Very clean and overall well equipped, although lacks a washing machine and dishwasher. The views and location are spectacular although being so central you need to be aware it can be noisy late at night, from holidaymakers "enjoying themselves " and early mornings from rubbish collections and delivery lorries. Also parking nearby in St Ives can be difficult. This is a great apartment for a short break.

Thank you for your comments; we are glad you liked it here. The Quarterdeck is in a fantastic location right on the harbour front, benefitting amazing sea views, and all of the great restaurants and shops right on your doorstep! Being in such a fantastic location, in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the town, noise may be a risk, though it hasn't been mentioned before. We will keep an eye on any further feedback, and look at reviewing the description to make this clearer if it would benefit that. Parking is unfortunately at a premium in St Ives; so it is always worth looking into parking options beforehand on the local council website and looking into private parking availability, particularly for peak weeks. There is also a park and ride facility which some find useful. Please feel free to contact the team for any advice. Thanks for your comments, and we hope to see you back here soon. Lovely apartment in a prime location overlooking the harbour and wonderful for people watching.

The Quarterdeck is right in the best part of town, just steps away from Harbour beach, Ice Cream, Pasties, Fish n Chips and the pub! We loved sitting by the windows and & taking in the fabulous view across St Ives bay. We had a lovely, happy week there, with all the sights, sounds & smells of a proper seaside holiday. Everything was easily accessible for us. The property was cosy, light and bright.

We had a great holiday and have already booked to come again next year. Thank you to the team.

Perfect location, perfect views and one of the best properties we have stayed in within St Ives.

Beautiful location. Very clean. Everything you need for a relaxing break

Wonderful cottage , perfect central location and beautiful decor....enjoyed every moment of being there !

The Quarterdeck was an ideal base for four adults. Clean and comfortable with great views. Lovely seeing people posing outside for the Aspects webcam

Idyllic views, perfect for people watching and lazy days. Comfortable beds, lie in with a cuppa and view.

A perfect place to watch the ever changing harbour whatever the weather.

Absolutely stunning apartment that is well cared for by the owner. From the minute you walk in to the minute you leave it feels like home. With stunning views across the harbour it doesn't matter what the weather is outside you can watch the world go by.

Perfect location, splendid apartment, panoramic views, very comfortable & an ideal stay wether for a short break or one to two weeks.

This apartment is incredible. We stayed in the off season which was fantastic. Very comfortable and has everything you need and more.

Put Simply its great in every way.

I would recommend "The Quarterdeck" 100%. The location and superb views over the harbour are wonderful and the apartment is well-decorated, well-equipped, clean, cosy and comfortable. We have visited St Ives many times and will return to "The Quarterdeck" again.
