Holidays at The Wharf

Many of our cottages at The Wharf overlook the working harbour of St Ives. Here you'll find fishing boats, a gorgeous sandy beach and in the summer season you can take advantage of the boat trips on offer. Home to The RNLI, The St Ives Lifeboat Station is close by and is a popular attraction with tourists.

The Wharf, otherwise known as St Ives harbour, is a hive of activity throughout the year. With a continual hustle and bustle on the water and along the harbour front, there is always plenty to do and see while self catering at the Wharf, even at the quieter times of the year.  It’s an ever changing scene so perfect for those artists among you. Don’t forget about the very sheltered, sandy Harbour Beach, a perfect sun-trap in the heart of town and a great place to find seaglass and sea pottery! As night falls at the end of another perfect day, St Ives comes alive with a selection of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit every pocket and every taste in a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Top tip

Be careful of the seagulls when eating at The Wharf.

Things to do on The Wharf

Boat Trips

Why not enjoy the scenery by boat and explore the coastline with an excursion with St Ives Boat Trips. Fishing trips are available for those looking for a bit of adventure, or for a more relaxing experience, a visit to seal island lets you see seals basking on the rocks at certain times of year.

Eating and Drinking

The Wharf is home to a wide selection of restaurants and cafes, serving up fresh fish and chips to gourmet burgers, with something to suit everyone. Enjoy an ice cream or Cornish pasty and watch the world go by on the harbour front, but remember to keep your wits about you; seagulls in St Ives are renowned for swooping in and stealing food right from your hands!

Smeaton's Pier

From here you'll get a stunning view of the harbour, and an up close view of the crystal clear waters. At the entrance to the pier you'll find St Leonard's Chapel; originally dedicated for local fisherman, it is now a museum and memorial for the fisherman of St Ives.

Lifeboat station

Home to the new £1.5 million lifeboat, the RNLI lifeboat station is a popular attraction for visitors to St Ives. The gift shop next door sells souvenirs where all profits go towards helping to save lives at sea.

Aspects were very good to deal with and this was a very spacious flat and good quality and value for money. The location means you will hear loud music from the nearby pubs but this didn’t worry us. We would certainly book it again

Thank you for your comments and so glad to hear that you liked it here. Being in such a fantastic central location, you may hear some of the hustle and bustle of the town at times, but we hope that you agree that it is worth it for being right in the heart of this fantastic town, just steps from all that St Ives has to offer. The owners have installed triple glazing, to keep this to a minimum, but it will not stop it completely, especially if you have the windows open. We have since amended our website description just to help make the location and what you may expect from that, a little clearer. Hopefully see you again soon! Tanya, Customer Services.

Let's start on the positives. Lovely spacious 1 bed apartment. Stylishly decorated with comfortable sofa and bed. Well equipped kitchen (who needs an ice maker!). Central location all amenities on your doorstep. Walking distance from railway station which for us was ideal. No parking near this accommodation so that may prove difficult to unload luggage. The negatives are the windows offer a sea view but were so dirty with bird poop it was very unpleasant. I know this must be a constant problem in St Ives but surely regular cleaning on change over would at least be an improvement. Now part of the positive of the central location is also a negative. The bar across the road is the rowdiest, noisiest bar in St Ives. Thursday through to Saturday they are open until 1pm with loud music playing and a lot of people in the street, literally outside the bedroom window. This obviously caused a disturbance. I understand this is out of Aspects control but it is something to be aware of.

We were sorry to read that the windows were dirty. Most owners have regular window cleans in place but unfortunately, we often get reports from lots of properties of windows being covered in bird mess within a couple of hours of the window cleaner having been there. We will double check though if this owner does have something in place and monitor feedback on it, so thank you for letting us know. The central location can mean that you will hear noise from time to time, but this will greatly vary from day to day and what time of the year you visit, with many times of the year generally being very quiet. Any property within central St Ives will be susceptible to this, but it gives you the benefit of literally being able to step out of your door right into the heart of this fantastic and popular town. You can park up your car somewhere for the week and not have to worry about needing it to get anywhere all week, with so much to do on your doorstep. We hope that you found these benefits to far outweigh any negative, but if you are looking to return to the area and this wasn't quite what you were looking for, please do contact us so that we can help you to find the best property to suit all your requirements.
