Additional information

The apartment is located right in the very centre of town and is great for those who love to be at the heart of the action. However, please be aware that you will hear noise from the restaurants and pubs in the immediate area, especially during high season. Having restaurants below you (which is very handy!) also means you will often notice cooking smells during the day - depending on wind direction and with the balcony doors left open. For these reasons we think Mermaid’s Rest is ideally suited to guests who want to be out and about, enjoying the apartment as a base for exploring the best of St Ives and Cornwall, rather than having a quiet home-from-home holiday. Babes in arms welcome in travel cot. Guests booking Starfish Dreams and Mermaid's Rest together for the same week will receive 10% discount, please speak to the bookings team to apply this. Whilst the property is only suitable for two people, friends or a couple can enjoy the use of two bedrooms during their stay. WiFi.

Beaches in St Ives

With your holiday cottage in St Ives, you’ll be perfectly placed within walking distance of several stunning beaches. With each beach boasting its own charm and appeal; you'll find something for everyone, with family-friendly beaches, popular watersports venues, wide-open flat sands and hidden rock pools.

Harbour Beach - You can't get much more central to St Ives than Harbour Beach, which sits proudly in front of the bustling shops of St Ives (meaning you have immediate access to all the ice cream and places to eat you could need). Build sandcastles and swim in the safety of the harbour for a perfectly placed beach day in St Ives. See what you can expect with our St Ives Harbour webcam here.

Porthmeor - With the impressive Tate St Ives as its backdrop, Porthmeor beach is easily recognisable. Favoured by surfers and swimmers alike, this sandy beach is great for every kind of beach day from relaxed to energetic – or a mix of the two! It’s also one of only eight beaches in Cornwall to holda Blue Flag Award, which positions it at the top for quality, safety and environmental management.

Porthminster - With a café practically on the beach for ice creams and any forgotten picnic essentials (like more ice cream), the golden sands of Porthminster are always beckoning for a beach day. Palm trees dot the outskirts of the beach, adding a tropical feel to the beach. Combine this with the balmy climate of St Ives and you’ve got a Mediterranean holiday without climbing on a plane.

Porthgwidden - This sheltered beach is a veritable sun trap in the summer months, creating another glorious spot for swimming in St Ives. Family friendly with a superb café overlooking the beach, Porthgwidden might not be the biggest beach but it’s certainly one of the best. Simply stretch out on the soft sand and let the sound of waves take you away.

Surfing & Watersports

In Cornwall, one of the most popular pastimes is surfing and if you’re wondering if you can hit the waves in St Ives, you absolutely can… and should! You can learn to surf at the St Ives Surf School based at Porthmeor beach, unleashing a lifetime of surfing possibilities. Alternatively, you can try out paddleboarding or kayaking at Porthminster beach, where you can glide across the water and test your balance. Fabulous apartment. Well equipped everything you need and more for a self catering holiday. Spectacular views over the harbour. Would definitely book it again if staying in St Ives.

Its all about the view! WOW WOW WOW!!!! A superb appartment with panoramic views in a perfect location, easy access to all areas of St Ives. Spotlessly clean with beautiful decor and very comfortable and fabulous ameneties. We could not have wanted more, highly delighted with this wonderful find and we hope to return very soon. Thank you so much

We loved Mermaid’s rest It is comfortable in many ways with stunning views can’t beat them On the doorstep to amenities but being one floor up there is hardly any noise Couple things we recommend changing having stayed in a lot of higher end aspect properties is the Tv in the lounge to a large smart Tv as lots of room fir one on the cabinet and add one in the master bedroom Not everyone is out all the time it’s nice to have options The modern traveller likes to have a choice I’d add luxury linen and pillows .as was a bit starchy Think it would then be perfect Oh, and remove the stair lift on entry it takes a quarter width of the communal staircase and is a little dangerous coming down as the stair tread is not that wide .

Thank you for your helpful suggestions. All guest feedback is passed on to owners for their consideration. When you are staying in a property you get to experience them in a different way than we do when we visit properties, so suggestions like this are really useful for ourselves and the property owners. Thanks again and we hope you had a great time here. Tanya, Customer Services

Stunning views of the harbour and out to sea. Excellent location. Easy for shops and eateries. Roomy and comfortable living and kitchen area. Access stairs (one short flight) a bit tight, and ensuite to twin room smallish, although bathroom makes up for this. Overall we were very pleased and would definitely return. Thank you.
