Located in Mounts Bay, Perranuthnoe is perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the serenity that Cornwall has to offer. Described as a countryside village by the sea, Peranuthnoe is secluded enough to ensure a peaceful stay, but close enough to the bustling town of Marazion if you fancy a more lively atmosphere. With the Lizard Peninsula within easy reach, Perranuthnoe is perfect for walking holidays and exploring the rugged coastline.
Dating back to the 12th century, Perranuthnoe's village pub named the 'Victoria Inn' is thought to be the oldest recorded Inn in Cornwall. Full of charm and character, this award winning pub is well worth a visit.
A short walk from the pub is the picturesque Perranuthnoe Church, which is dedicated to Cornwall's patron saint, St Piran. The church stands on the site of a former church dating back to 1160, and includes features from the original church, such as a Norman font.
Perranuthnoe beach, (also known as Perran Sands) offers good surfing when the conditions are right, and is ideal for beach-goers with its golden sands, cafe and car park. Be sure to visit at low tide however as there is very little left of the beach when the tide comes in! The Cabin Cafe offers stunning views and is featured in our blog: The best beach-front cafes in West Cornwall.
A popular fishing spot, even at low tide, Perranuthnoe is a favoured spot with the locals for seabass and dogfish.
The 'Village Crafts' centre located in a converted barn in the heart of the village offers an extensive range of local artwork, crafts, gifts, jewellery, and country clothing.
The Perranuthnoe Circular walk follows part of the South West Coast Path, which offers great views of St Michael's Mount, before cutting inland and back to Perranuthnoe via fields and villages.
The nearby Prussia Cove is a small and secluded rocky cove, surrounded by organic farmland and woodland has a famous history of smuggling!

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Oamaru Barn is in a wonderful location overlooking Mounts Bay, perfect for walking on the South West coast path. Even on a wet and windy winter's day the Barn is very cosy and warm and offers great views. There are some lovely places to eat out nearby and on this part of the coast you are never far from anywhere.
Mrs Courage Nov 2019
This is a lovely property in a fantastic location - sea views, taking in St. Michael’s mount; stepping out of the door pretty much leads you into the coast path and a very short walk down to the beach and Perranuthnoe itself. The property is well appointed and very comfortable; we’ve had a great break and reserved the place again for next year, before we even left!
Mr Tidmarsh Oct 2019
This was our fourth visit to Oamaru and, as always, lived up to our expectations. All amenities are very good and the views are absolutely stunning. The surrounding area is very good for walking our dogs and we made regular walks down to the village of Perranuthnoe. Peppercorn Café and the Cabin are well worth a visit too. Already booked to return in May next year, but really very disappointed we couldn't book for our two weeks in August.

Really liked the fact it was so warm and cosy. Good parking and fantastic walking from there. Lovely views and good pubs to eat nearby, particularly liked the Lion and the Lamb, Ashton, very good food and sensible prices. Also recommend the Hut for "proper job" hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Lovely weather couldn't ask for more.

Oamaru Barn is a lovely cottage in a quite magical location.......what can be better after a long drive than to arrive to a clean, light and airey cottage with a Cornish Cream tea ready to eat whilst enjoying the fabulous view of St Michael's Mount. No wonder people return year after year.

Miss McFarland Jul 2017
Well equipped, cosy, amazing views, friendly and helpful owners. The cream tea which was waiting for us on arrival was a very welcoming touch
Mrs Garden Jun 2017
All in all Oamaru Barn is one of the best places we have stayed in. Easy access in and out of the lane, garden was great for the dogs, all enclosed. Could leave them on there own out there and not worry they would get out! Will definitely consider booking it again in the future. The owner was very nice and friendly too. My grand daughter forgot her binoculars and she (the owner) went back to her house and lent her a pair that she had. Little things like that mean a lot! We really enjoyed our week. Virtually everything about the place was exceptional. Thanks very much.
Mr Wilburn Jun 2017
Oamaru was just like home from home - everything you needed was there
Mrs Green May 2017
Oamaru Cottage exceeded our expectations. It is very well designed internally, with a good balance between, kitchen practicalities, functional dining area and a relaxing sitting area. There is a feeling of space in the cottage and the colour scheme is harmonious. Everywhere is clean and fresh. The views of the sea from the windows, with the changing light on St Michael's Mount, is a real bonus. Altogether a lovely cottage which has a very welcoming feel.

Mr Foxhall May 2016
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Wonderful views across the bay and ideal location if you have a dog, so many walks to choose from.
Mrs Glanfield Apr 2016
Finished to a high standard. A comments book was there, and it was interesting to see other people's comments and how quick things were addressed and resolved. (might seem small but the week before we stayed there it was commented on no cork screw and we had a corkscrew in the draw when we got there) it may seem a small thing but it counts for a lot to know that the book is left there for a reason it is read and acted on. very impressed, things like this is what brings people back again and again
Mrs Frost Sep 2015
Beautiful location, perfect also for dogs and children!
Ms Kammann Sep 2015
A gorgeous and comfortable cottage, perfect for a family of four. The wonderful Perran Sands is only a walk away and we will definitely be back.
