A stunning character cottage set in the very heart of Newquay, Mincarlo House really is unique with its quirky accommodation spread over four floors. Dating back to 1750, this was originally a candlestick maker's home and used as the local candle shop when Newquay was known as Towan Blystra. Although quietly tucked away, the central location is ideal for exploring everything this popular town has to offer on foot.
With a woodburner to enjoy the cooler months and enclosed garden for the summer evenings, Mincarlo House would suit families and couples alike and even welcomes your four legged friend to join the holiday too.
four stone steps to the front door into:
sofa, two armchairs, woodburner, TV/DVD, CD player/radio, stairs up to bedroom 1, stairs down to dining room.
basement location, dining table and six chairs.
double bed, TV, single sofa bed, feature fireplace.
double shower, WC and basin.
electric single oven and hob, washing machine, fridge/freezer, door to second set of stairs with height restriction, leading to bedrooms 2 and 3 on the third floor.
double bed, TV.
bunk beds.
roll top bath, WC and basin.
enclosed garden with table and chairs.
Due to the age and structure, Mincarlo House can suffer from damp in the basement dining room, making it potentially unsuitable for asthmatics, a de-humidifier is provided for guest use, gas central heating, there are steep staircases so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility, the fireplace in the bedroom is a feature only, WiFi, up to two dogs welcome, short breaks available.
Very good location, near Sainsbury's, wall to the beach and into Newquay town. Back garden is large with plenty of room for dogs and children! Parking got a bit expensive for us, £8 a day, but just factor it into the cost. Bedrooms very spacious and had everything we needed. You can actually just about see the sea out of the velux window in one of the bathrooms!

A lovely little place, right in the hussle and bustle of Newquay, but also quiet and tranquil as soon as you shut your door. Ideally situated and live it so much we will be back for a 3rd year next year.

St Piran's Day, celebrated on March 5th, is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of Cornwall's patron saints. According to legend, St Piran, a 5th century Irish Abbot, was thrown into the sea in Ireland tied to a mill stone; somehow he washed up on the Cornish coast still alive. He made Cornwall his new home and became the patron saint of tin-miners after rediscovering tin smelting.
Today, Cornwall still celebrates St Piran's Day, with various celebrations held across Cornwall.
