Beaches in Bude

Fancy a sneak preview? View our Bude webcam here>

Crooklets Beach

At low tide, a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, along with rocky outcrops which are great for rock pooling. The beach can be reached by a short walk over Summerleaze Down or down the hill from the town centre. Crooklets is very popular with surfers, but also perfect for families, with great facilities including a large car park, beach café, skate park, showers, and pubs close by. Dogs welcomed from October to Easter only.

Summerleaze Beach

Boasting the iconic Sea Pool, and only a five minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf and sun. It’s the first port of call for many visitors. Clean, safe and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers and families. However, it is the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and water sports. Dogs welcomed on leads from May to September and off the lead any time after this!

Widemouth Bay Beach

Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rock-pooling!

Northcott Mouth Beach

Three miles North of Bude, is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, owmed by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rock pools dotted all around - perfect for exploring. Dogs welcomed all year round.

Sandymouth Beach

Four miles North of Bude is the National Trust beach, Sandymouth. Backed by sweeping cliffs, this large sandy beach is popular all year round, especially with dog owners as it welcomes dogs year round.

St Pirans Day Celebrations

Gool Perran Lowen - Happy St Piran's Day in Cornish!

St Piran's Day, celebrated on March 5th, is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of Cornwall's patron saints. According to legend, St Piran, a 5th century Irish Abbot, was thrown into the sea in Ireland tied to a mill stone; somehow he washed up on the Cornish coast still alive. He made Cornwall his new home and became the patron saint of tin-miners after rediscovering tin smelting.

Today, Cornwall still celebrates his heritage. On the closest Sunday to St Piran's day, Perranorth hosts one of the largest St Piran's celebrations. Held at the dunes on Perranporth, a play is performed to re-enact St Piran's life. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to dress in black, white and gold, the colours of Cornwall.

Other celebrations will be held in various locations across Cornwall.

A fantastic bungalow, very good value for money. This is our 2nd visit to sunset view and would not hesitate about booking again. Excellent central base for day trips. Very pet friendly with a lovely enclosed garden. Lovely welcome gift of cream teas upon arrival. First class ??

Property is truly home from home comfort with everything you need for a great stay . Cleanliness is excellent and it is very well equipped Enclosed garden is ideal for dog owners but we couldn’t find any open areas close by for dog walking. However It’s only a few minutes drive to the beach or the canal for the best dog friendly walks. We would recommend to our friends and family

Jul 2019

We stayed at Sunset View in June, it was our first time in Bude & we weren't sure what to expect.

Sunset View sits on top of a hill with magnificent views over Bude & the surrounding area. Although we found the layout of the bungalow a little confusing at first, it is excellently presented & equipped & we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other Aspects guests.

We absolutely loved Bude & the clifftop walks, both North & South. We took our dog with us & we have never stayed in such a dog friendly place as Bude, she was even allowed in most of the restaurants, of which there are loads.

Jun 2019

We stayed for one week at Sunset View it was clean and comfortable also quite which is what we wanted. It is around 15 minutes to walk from sunset view into bude town ( if you like walking ) or around 5 mins in the car. There is a local pub called The Preston Gate Inn, poughill Road probably 10 minute walk from the bungalow nice country pub.

Jun 2019

What a fantastic bungalow. Worth every penny. We had an amazing time my only regret was leaving it. Amazing.

May 2019

We love booking with Aspects Holidays, they really do look after you! Once again, my dog was given an "Aspects" dog tag to wear and biscuits as a treat, thank you! The property in which we stayed (Sunset View) was a spacious property with a nice sunny garden. Quite a walk from the town and beach (35-40 mins). Not too bad going to the town but all uphill on the way back which is quite tiring after a day of walking! If you're not very fit, I would say that a car is necessary when staying here (not that we used ours). Bude is a great location. Fantastic coastal path with breathtaking views (extremely quiet too), great beaches to enjoy and a really nice canal to walk along. Very dog friendly in Bude. My dog was allowed in cafes, shops, pubs and even some restaurants. A good location to access new places to visit such as Boscastle, Padstow, Clovelly (Devon) and even St Ives (1.5hours drive away to get my St Ives fix!). Over all a really great holiday, thoroughly relaxing and great fun! I would stay here again and, despite being quite far out of town, I would choose to stay in Sunset View again. Thank you!

Apr 2019

The owners made every effort to make their home welcoming, with superb and tasteful Christmas decorations, lights on the trees as we walked in etc. This is a lovely holiday home, and if we wish to go to Bude again we would hope to use it. For a Cornwall holiday, we always start our search with Aspects.

Jan 2019

Had a fantastic Christmas in Sunset view. Beautifully decorated for the festive season. A clean and very comfortable bungalow with everything you could possibly require. Even our dog was well catered for! We would definitely return which hopefully says it all - thanks to all concerned.

Dec 2018

Good quality fittings and fixtures. Felt very comfortable home from home. Spotlessly clean plenty of room thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Cornwall.

Sep 2018

The house is fully equipped, incredibly clean with linen and towels provided. The welcome gifts, dog treats and bowl were a wonderful touch. I highly recommend Sunset View to all.

Sep 2018

1st class service for a 1st class property. Ideal base for day trips and the beach

Aug 2018

This property is exceptional and the amount of space was fantastic. The property actually sleeps 7 and although on this trip there were only 3 of us and 2 dogs, I would not hesitate to book with more people as I don't think that it would feel crowded. The flow of the living space worked really well and the bedrooms were a good size. The attention to detail in the property is superb. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and even the dogs had been thought about - large bowls and doggy treats provided!

Aug 2018

Lovely house, very well set up and welcoming for dog owners, beautiful situation and well equipped.

Jul 2018

Our holiday at Sunset View was amazing. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Clean, comfortable, well equipped with everything that you would need. Would recommend and recommend over and over again. We hope to go back in the near future.

Apr 2018

This was the first time we had gone away for Christmas and we were amazed at the thought and effort that was made to ensure we had a festive setting for Christmas. Thank you very much.

Jan 2018

Absolutely beautiful place, perfect location, friendly neighbours and a real home from home :)

Sep 2017

Had a lovely break in Sunset view. Local to Bude which is a great, dog friendly place with beaches, cafes and restaurants. One of the best holiday homes we've stayed in. Lots of attention to detail and little extras that made us feel welcome. Will be back!

Sep 2017

Very bright, clean and spacious property, very well equiped, excellent property for a family of 6
