If you’re planning a family holiday in Cornwall this year, and your kids love CBeebies, then this blog is for you! We all get excited when we recognise places we know on the TV, and it’s just as exciting to see these places in person! We’re delighted that CBeebies have shone a light on Cornwall in a series that follows double act Fred and Pete as they take us on a journey through Cornwall.
Cruising along Cornish lanes in their traditional camper van, artists Fred and Pete spend their days hunting for treasure. Each episode follows the duo as they try to unearth the history of their newly discovered treasure, while sharing funny drawings of what they imagine the item could be. With the help of Suzy, who runs The Museum of Cornish Treasures, Fred and Pete learn stories of their treasure before concluding the episode with an illustration that highlights the item in its intended use.
We consider ourselves experts on all things Cornwall, so we’ve watched the whole series (which is both entertaining and educational!) and made a note of the locations for each setting.
Before diving into each episode, let’s begin with the setting of Suzy’s Museum of Cornish Treasures, which appears in every episode. While the scenes inside Suzy’s museum are filmed in a studio, the recurring scene which shows Fred and Pete running into the museum is in fact the entrance to the real-life Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery situated in our very own city, Truro. Why not visit the museum and let the kids reenact the scene? As proud Corporate Members of the museum, we’d highly recommend a visit, especially as it’s recently reopened following a multi-million-pound refurbishment.
