The Falmouth Shout Shanty Singers host the annual International Sea Shanty Festival this weekend. With choirs and artists performing at various locations throughout Falmouth town, the festival is guaranteed to get you on your feet and singing along with some traditional Maritime music.
Whilst the focal aim of the festival is to raise money for the RNLI, it’s also to raise awareness of Falmouth and its heritage and to support the singers who come every year to ensure that everyone has a good time.
The festival will run from the 15th-18th June and will launch at 6:30pm on Custom House Quay. The shanties will make their way around the town to other venues but the main locations will be Events Square (Discovery Quay), Falmouth Moor and Custom House Quay. Make sure you pick up a festival programme which has the lyrics to some of the shanties so you can join in the singing!
