The Captain's House - Pendeen

£1067 - £2486 per week

Whether you are seeking a space to slow down and reflect, to ramble the many paths in the area, or just looking for a base from which to tour the local attractions and fabulous beaches of West Penwith, The Captain's House is ideally located, away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts, yet close enough to them to dip in and out at will. Your front gate opens opposite the South West Coastal Path and the spectacular Levant Mine, which was used in Poldark, is an easy walk westwards along the Tin Coast. To the East, you are 10 minutes from a tiny sandy cove and a little further, finds you on one of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches - and one of the least visited, except by the occasional seal.

Situated on the dramatic Pendeen peninsular, with sea views from both the front and back the Captain's House is only a 5 minute drive from Pendeen village with its pubs, shops and post office, 15 minutes from Penzance and within 30 minutes of Sennen, Porthcurno and St. Ives. Back in the house, slide open the wide conservatory doors and take in the stunning view on a sunny day or cosy up in the warm and marvel at the power of an Atlantic Storm. If you're working from home, shut yourself away in the study and let the views inspire you - from the desk you look ahead over open countryside and to the right, out towards the ocean. You're blessed with dark skies here and on a clear night you can stargaze, seeing the Milky Way with the naked eye, make use of the reclining chairs in the conservatory and take in the magnitude of the universe. Maybe you will prefer to close the blinds, huddle up together and play one of the board games on offer in the study, or just sit and watch the large-screen TV in the lounge. When the sea air has tired you out, snuggle down in a supremely comfortable Hypnos bed with goose down duvet and Egyptian cotton sheets and let the distant rumble of the waves send you to sleep.

Holidays in Pendeen

Once a thriving mining area, Pendeen is home to  the award winning Geevor Tin Mine Museum, which was one of the last mines in the country to close. Retaining the feel of a traditional Cornish village, and with stunning scenery on the doorstep, Pendeen is perfect for a self catering summer holiday, out of season visit, or short break.

Although secluded, theres still plenty on offer in this part of West Cornwall. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Pendeen is also recognised as a site of special scientific interest and a world heritage site. Pendeen is the perfect place to explore the ancient sites of Chun Castle and Chun Quoit, and the rugged coastline for which North Cornwall is renowned. Walkers will be in their element with access to the South West Coast Path, and many inland walks.

Fabulous location and nicely decorated house with a thoughtful collection of books and games and a lovely welcome hamper. Our family of six adults and two dogs had a great week but would be a squeeze for eight at the table and sitting area has only room for four. Loved walking up to the lighthouse everyday with the dogs and sitting watching the birds on the bird feeder. And seeing the cows in the field next door. It was idyllic. Would love to go back.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed such a nice week here and that it worked well for all your party. Just in case you were ever looking to return as a party of 8, the dining table is an extendable one, so will comfortably seat all 8 people around it. The sitting area will not work for all parties, particularly if you all want to sit in the same room together, but with the combination of plenty of comfortable seating between the sofas in the living room, the recliners in the conservatory and other chairs dotted around, there is plenty of seating for everyone to be able to enjoy relaxing at the property to recharge those batteries ready for your next days adventures. We hope to see you back here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services
