Christmas lights
Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.
Walks around Mousehole
For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round. There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!) Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.
The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Read more about the History of Mousehole on our blog.
Venture near or far, with Newlyn, Porthcurno and Marazion all within a short drive or the cobbled streets of St Ives and the surfing beach of Sennen a little further away. The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Mr. Mills Aug 2020
Lovely week in mousehole. Cute cottage, great value for money and great location! Thank you!
Miss Dainty Mar 2020
Well situated in the village of Mousehole behind the harbour. Clean, cosy and quirky and kitchen well equipped. Easy bus route to Penzance and beyond. Near to coastal walks. Well worth the stay.
Mrs Young Jan 2020
Loved everything about it. Cute, cosy, nicely decorated, very well kitted out in terms of pots and pans etc. Added bonus of the beautiful Mousehole lights and the fantastic Ship Inn which does a world beating Fish and Chips. Just a lovely week and one which we hope to repeat one day.
Mr Collins Jan 2020
Another great holiday at April Cottage. thank you
Mr Dartnell Nov 2019
Cute and cosy little cottage right in the middle of Mousehole. Very close to the harbour, shops and restaurants but on a quiet street (no parking, like virtually everywhere in the village but you can drop stuff off right outside). Prettily decorated. Upstairs very spacious with two bathrooms. Downstairs a bit tight, especially if there are four of you but we had some pleasant evenings in front of the fire. October a great time to visit Mousehole if you are lucky with the weather as we were.

It's great to hear that you enjoyed your time in Mousehole. Parking is unfortunately at a bit of a premium in the village, being a traditional fishing village, it was not designed with cars in mind at the time, but is part of what gives it such a charming appeal. There are a couple of car parks within close proximity to April Cottage though; we are happy to provide further information on these, and it is always worth looking into parking options beforehand on the local council website, particularly for peak weeks. Thanks for your comments, and we hope to see you back here soon. Tanya, Customer Services
Quirky and cosy cottage with a great location and value.
Mr Arrowsmith Sep 2019
Highly recommended - A lovely cottage in an amazing location. Mousehole is the loveliest village on the SW coast. The harbour is great - offering a small beach with swimming, kayaking, jumping off walls and sunbathing plus dear shops, pretty much unspoiled, supplying pasties, ice cream and quality gifts - including the tiny mouse shop up the hill. Fab coastal walks too. Loved it.
Mrs Symes Aug 2019
April cottage is lovely, just minutes walk from Mousehole harbour. A very characterful little house but with spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It coped with our family of four very well and the outside utility room was a definite bonus. If we came to Mousehole again we'd happily stay in April Cottage again, in fact I'd happily move there full stop! That said, parking in Mousehole at peak of season would have been a total pain were not for Aspects offering weekly permits in the school. This worked well though it's a little walk from the cottage.
Mrs Mellings Aug 2019
April Cottage is cute, and well located in Mousehole, it has a perfect sunny front courtyard garden to observe street life. If you want to wrap yourself in history, walk to the harbour in seconds, and enjoy coastal village life on tap it is perfect.
Miss Bashford Jul 2019
Lovely cosy cottage in a quiet location only a couple of minutes walk from the harbour. Well equipped and with a small outside space which was lovely for sitting out.
Mrs Ward Jun 2019
April Cottage is very cosy, clean and comfortable with lovely welcoming touches on arrival. I have stayed at April Cottage many times, and always love to come back.
Ms Thipthorpe May 2019
We really enjoyed our festive stay at April cottage the house exceeded our expectations, it was very comfortable, well equipped and in a fantastic location.
Miss Andrews Dec 2018
I'm always happy to return to April Cottage and have never been disappointed! I would particularly like to commend Helen (the caretaker) for her care in making the cottage feel so welcoming on arrival, and for going above and beyond in trying to sort out the oven. Looking forward to my next stay

Thank you for taking the time to send in your review. We were really sorry to hear about the problems with the oven; unfortunately the engineer couldn't fix it, so the owner has had a brand new one installed. We are glad to hear that you were still able to do all of the cooking that you wanted, and that it didn't cause you too much of a problem. We will look forward to seeing you back here again. Brilliant cottage in a great location.
Mr Dartnell Oct 2017
Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. Would go back again and again!
Mrs Thompson Jul 2017
Perfect hideaway, quiet, comfortable and very well equiped. Seagulls very friendly will knock on the window if they can see you have food handy, the most persistent one is called Barbie. Enjoy
Mrs Thipthorpe May 2017
April Cottage is delightful, there was even a Christmas tree in the sitting room. Friendly neighbours who are Mousehole residents. Just yards from the harbour it is in an ideal location.
Mrs Pierrepont Dec 2016
April Cottage is quaint and cosy. It is nicely decorated and furnished and contains all you need for a lovely holiday. The neighbours are welcoming and friendly but do not bother you in any way. If you like to cater for yourself, there is everything that you would need but if you want a break from cooking, there are excellent eating places within a five minute walk. The cottage is very conveniently situated for the harbour and the bus stops there regularly. The cottage is very small, with a steep staircase, but this adds to the charm. I would thorough recommend for a lovely restful holiday and would definitely go back.
Mrs Crook Nov 2016
The cottage was very comfy and cosy and perfectly located in Mousehole. It has loads of character and charm and really made our stay very enjoyable. Helen, the owner, made us feel very welcome with flowers and a cream tea waiting for us on our arrival. We felt that she was just around the corner if we needed her but she didn't impose herself on us during our stay. Everything was very clean and we appreciated the crisp fresh towels and bed linen. It was also great to have a Goid working shower and washing machine.
Mrs Blunden Aug 2016
Great location to explore Moushole, cottage is well furnished and has a lovely feel. Would recommend staying here.
