Hayle Holidays

In Hayle town you will find a range of shops and bars, a supermarket, charming local pubs and the ‘famous’ Mr B's ice-cream parlour, providing you with a wide range of options for a self catering holiday. The King George V Memorial Walk can be found in the centre of Hayle and is a lovely, level walk, planted with a wonderful selection of unique trees which creates a leafy canopy around the edge of Copperhouse Pool, a large tidal water now a site of special scientific interest. Being just a short drive to harbour and beach towns of St Ives, Penzance, Mousehole, Porthleven and Marazion, a self-catering holiday in Hayle promises a holiday to remember.

Hayle is renowned for its 3 miles of golden sands, which stretch from Hayle Estuary to Gwithian Towans and Godrevy Point. With good surfing and great views, this safe, unspoilt beach is popular with kite buggies and sand yachts, but as it is lifeguarded in Summer, is a great place to spend a family day out. Great for bird watching all year round, the Hayle Estuary is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The estuary provides a great place for walks, but dogs must be kept on a lead to avoid any disturbance to the wildlife. Find out more about the Hayle Estuary.

Paradise Park

If the birds on the Estuary are a little too distant for your liking, Hayle's Paradise Park allows you to get up close and personal with wildlife of both the feathered and furry varieties. With a large indoor adventure play area, a gorgeous cafe - and even an onsite pub, this is one for the whole family.

Hayle in Bloom

Throughout the summer, the Hayle community comes together to put on a wonderful floral display throughout the town. With an award from the South West in bloom competition at stake, and with fierce competition from neighbouring towns, Hayle pulls out all the stops in an attempt to retain its Gold medal, which it has won for 8 consecutive years!

Hayle Raft Race

In July, the locals wear fancy dress and take part in the annual raft race on the Regatta pool. Climbing aboard homemade rafts, partakers battle it out and race to the finish in an attempt to secure one of the winners trophies. Spectators can enjoy the bbq and bar on offer, and the bouncy castle and stalls mean there's plenty for the kids to enjoy. A fun day out for everyone. Read more about Hayle Raft Race

Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall.  The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.

Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Nov 2019

Wow. What a beautiful place in such a lovely setting. Attention to detail and comfort is amazing. We felt so relaxed here, the mixed weather did not dent our enjoyment at all. The bonus is getting a visit from Monty the dog too (make sure you have extra treats).

Oct 2019

The Tractor Barn proved to be a delightful home from home. Ensuring we were warm and cozy during the damp weather and yet cool and airy when the week warmed up. We shared happy family times there and also had space for each to take time out with a newspaper, book or iPad (to watch the cricket ??) in a quiet corner. From here we visited many areas of Cornwall easily and the local facilities were excellent. This home is a little secret treasure in the centre of Cornwall to enjoy. Thank you to Huw, Sally and Monty for sharing and looking after us.

Jun 2019

A spacious, beautiful property with all the home comforts in a very peaceful location, yet convenient for both coasts.

Jun 2019

Beautiful location, lovely welcome from Sally and Guy. It was a pleasant surprise to arrive and be greeted with a Cornish tea and all the trimmings.

The Tractor Barn was well equipped, comfortable, warm and well thought out. Everything you needed - home from home. The pond at the end of the lane was a hit with both dogs, they really enjoyed the run around the field at the beginning of each morning and the swim at the end of each day.We were blessed with good weather and were able to enjoy sitting outside on the veranda, which was enclosed so the dogs were safe with us.

Thank you for a great holiday, in a super location. Great location for exploring Cornwall and all its beauty. A well needed break for us all.

Apr 2019

The Tractor Barn is the perfect holiday retreat It is beautiful, clean and spacious It is central to all of Cornwalls beauty spots We always return refreshed and reenergised Excellent value for money We would highly recommend and can't wait to return

Apr 2018

This property is a must if you would like to away from the busy coast resorts but with easy reach of all the beaches and towns. We had a wonderful time staying at The Tractor Barn the property is a little gem.

Aug 2017

A lovely comfortable cottage that is a great base to see the local sights. The Tractor barn has some lovely features and the piano is a lovely touch.

The outside area is great to sit on an evening relaxing. Peace & quiet!

Aug 2017

One of our favourite "cottages" we've stayed in. A lot of thought has gone into it, well decorated, and not just with basic items. Loved the outside seating area, felt decadent reading my book out there with my dog beside me when it was raining, as it didn't matter as we were under cover!

Double bed was very comfortable with pretty quilt cover, and dressing gowns supplied too!

Our dog enjoyed meeting the owners' dog Monty.

We loved it so much we actually re-booked our next stay before we left, a first for us!

Jul 2017

Tractor Barn is a delightful location just a couple of miles outside Hayle. Peaceful, quiet and lovely and snug due to the Aga. Well appointed kitchen, comfortable sofas and a fabulous veranda with dining table and chairs although it was a bit too chilly to dine outdoors.

May 2017

Perfect, quiet location. Lovely property, throughly enjoyed by all.

Apr 2017

This is an amazing place for a family holiday...private..with an outdoor covered seating area..rural and very peaceful. Well equiped..comfortable..but best of all - an AGA in the cooler months..what more can we wish for !!

Apr 2017

We had a lovely peaceful week at the tractor barn. The location and surroundings were superb. The cottage was warm and cosy but very spacious and refurbished to a very tasteful and high standard.

Oct 2016

A beautiful place. Nice central location for both coasts. Great for dogs. Fantastic kitchen, fully equipped for proper cooking. Clean, comfortable and tasteful. We would definitely recommend.

Aug 2016

The tractor barn is a delightful place to stay, peace and quiet yet easy enough to get into St Ives and its bustle and hustle. Great location to explore this gorgeous part of Cornwall. We were so lucky with the weather! A full week of glorious sunshine the last week of September so lots of lunches at beachside cafes. Having an Aga to cook on was an absolute delight for me and the barn was always very warm when we came back from a day out. Definitely would recommend this location and barn.

Oct 2015

A little biit of paradise so close to the all the Cornish attraction

Jul 2015

Excellent property and a real home from home. A superb covered veranda helped us enjoy the tranquil surroundings; we enjoyed breakfast and dinner outside every day.

Jun 2015

Best accomodation we have ever experienced. So peaceful, scenic and yet close to everywhere we wanted to visit. Very tastefully designed throughout with a rustic, French feel. We had to force ourselves to wander each day as could have quite happily stayed put at Tractor Barn all week!

May 2015

For anyone looking for more space than the usual Cornish cottage, the Tractor Barn is an excellent option. The main living space was warm and cosy as well as being spacious and flexible. The long conservatory was also very useful, but as it is unheated it might not be as useful in colder weather than we had. Conversely, in the summer, the conservatory and the huge outside deck would be fantastic features of this property. The fittings and equipment were of high quality.
