The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Mr Sibley Oct 2020
The property we stayed at, 2 Atlantic Watch, was positioned in a great location, close to the station and about 30 minutes walk, on the coastal path, into St Ives. It is a little tired and in need of a deep clean. Aspects as a company have been extremely professional and helpful when I had questions, prior to our stay and supportive during our stay.

Thank you for your review! We were pleased to see that you enjoyed the fantastic location of the property and that you made use of the coast path to St Ives, it is such a great way to take in the amazing views across the bay. We were sorry to see that you found the property to be a little tired and needing a deep clean, thankfully after a strange year, properties were really well booked from July, but this can result in additional wear when a property is in constant use, but pleased rest assured that feedback is always taken on board. Thank you for your kind words about Aspects as a company, it has been a challenging year and we have been doing our best to ensure that as much support was given before, during and after people's stays, so it is really appreciated. We hope that we will see you again soon! Ben, Customer Services
Convenient location for beach and train to St Ives. Lovely view from sitting room and master bedroom. We would stay here again as long as the building work next door is fully completed.
Mrs Galpin Mar 2020
The property is very comfortable and well equipped with excellent ocean views. The railway is a short walk away for popping into St Ives. The car park space is for 2 cars so it is easy for 1 to park right next the property.
Mrs Eardley Oct 2019
Paying premium for position of apartment and outlook but needs updating and damp looking at as there seems to be a damp smell downstairs , need to address little details
Mrs George Sep 2019

We are sorry to hear that you found that areas needed updating and that you experienced a damp smell. The coffee machine has now been replaced, batteries replaced in the clock, and lightbulbs replaced; thank you for letting us know about these. We will also be undertaking a thorough inspection of the property to see if there are any other areas that need attention, and investigate your comment on a damp smell, as this is not something that we have ever seen or had reported at this property before. We will report any areas that need addressing, to the property owner. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the great location and lovely views that you get from this property. Thanks again for your feedback. Tanya, Customer Services
Very comfortable, well equipped property in an ideal location and with a stunning sea view. Can't wait to hopefully go back there again sometime.
Mr Clutton Aug 2019
Amazing location for Carbis Bay beach and station. Lounge and main bedroom have stunning views. Easy drive to lots of beautiful beaches nearby at Hayle and Gwithian Towans. Property is equipped with all the basics but in our opinion the interior is in need of some TLC, this is probably reflected in the price. Also be aware that the car parking space is quite tight for 2 cars.

Thank you for your comments, and we are very sorry to hear that you had felt that there were some areas needing a bit of attention. 2 Atlantic Watch had met all required standards, with any necessary/routine maintenance being carried out as expected when we had last inspected this property, and had been priced accordingly; however, a lot can happen to a property in a short space of time, so thank you for bringing this to our attention so that we pass the feedback on to the property owners. It sounds like you still had a fantastic time here and we're glad that you liked the great location. Thanks again for your feedback. Tanya, Customer Services
Absolutely stunning views from this property. The property was very well equipped, clean and we had a very comfortable stay here. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of staying here.
Mrs Palmer Jul 2019
The appartment at 2 Atlantic Watch was fabulous. Everything was of a high quality and helped make our holiday great. The location was wonderful, with fantastic views and such easy access to the train service for St Ives. We hope to return in the future.
Mrs Kerr Jul 2019
Fantastic location. Wonderful views from the balcony and great to be within walking distance of the station with regular trains into St Ives.
Mr Tice Jul 2019
Great views but a little expensive.

We are glad to hear you enjoyed the fantastic views but sorry that you felt it a little expensive. St Ives and Carbis Bay is a more expensive area to rent in, compared to other areas but we try to ensure that properties are priced competitively and accordingly, taking into account many factors including location, views, availability of parking, number of bedrooms, décor and so on, and we try to provide a wide range of properties that will cater for a variety of tastes and budgets. We do hope that you found that it suited your needs and thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. Tanya, Customer Service
Parking can be difficult particularly when the car park fills up with contractors vans
Mr Salt Jun 2019
Reply from Aspects Holidays
We are really sorry to hear that you may have had some difficulties with the parking there. This property comes with allocated parking for 2 cars which should not be used by anyone other than those staying in 2 Atlantic Watch, so we are sorry if others had been parking inconsiderately while you were there. It is not the norm for there to be a load of contractor vans in the car park, and we had not been made aware that there would be, so we can only apologise if there had been works taking place in another property that may have led to this. We would hope that this was a bit of a one-off, but we will keep a close eye on this. Thanks for letting us know. We hope that you still had a great time. Tanya, Customer Services
Property is well sited, with easy car access and two allocated parking places ( would be tight if you have two large cars and other places taken). Regular bus service along the main road, 8 minutes walk away. And train station directly across the road ( railway not noisy from inside the property!). During our stay we used car bus and train depending on our itinerary, including train into St Ives most evenings! Property is comfortable and has an amazing view over the bay. Parts are a little tired and need revamping, but perhaps that is us being over picky. Although it has two bedrooms, there was only the two of us. The spare bedroom meant we had ample storage space / dressing space! All things considered, we would stay again.

Thank you for your helpful comments; we are glad that you had a great holiday and that this is somewhere that you would return to. We have since had a look at the parking and to try and to help make the parking arrangements as clear and possible and prevent any issues for any guests on arrival to the property; we have now amended the website description to state that the space is suitable for 2 small to medium cars. We are sorry if you had found it a bit of a struggle but we are glad that the property still worked well for you. We hope to see back here again soon. Tanya, customer Services
