Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Very nice accommodation.

A little gem in an excellent location just a short walk to the harbour, restaurants and shops. The patio area is a real sun trap, perfect to sit and relax after a day out. Would definitely recommend.

A great little property in the middle of the town and close to the harbour (up some steps!!) but very quiet and peaceful, not even any traffic noise as it is tucked away. The cottage is well equipped, cosy and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. A lovely lady called Virginia welcomed us, made sure we had everything we needed and provided us with maps and local menus. We would stay again if visiting Mevagissey.

We had a lovely stay at Sunny Bank and we were very welcomed on arrival. The cottage is perfectly equipped, very clean and very cosy for those wet and windy nights (autumn had arrived!). The log burner is great to unwind in front of with a glass of wine. The surrounding area is very steep but there are steps downs to short cut the hill down to the harbour. Mevagissey is lovely. We were a little unfortunate with the weather but the pubs and restaurants were very hospitable. We would definitely stay here again.

This property has easy access down the steps to Mevagissey and Veronica (who lives next door but one) is lovely and helpful. Unfortunately we were dissapointed with this accomodation, firstly it does not have parking, the parking is in a nearby carpark and you have to park on a steep hill to unload first them go and park your car. When you have a lot of luggage and children this is a pain! Secondly it was just not clean, especially under the current circumstances, we had to vacuum, clean from top to bottom as the stair handrail was filthy, cobwebs, spiders in corners and around windows, in the kitchen there were dirty dishcloths left from previous visitors, food in the sink the fridge was not clean, cheerios under sofa and cushions, it certainly had not had a thorough clean which was what i expected given that they have extra time to clean!
The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need i just didn't expect to have to clean so much. Sorry but this property was not for us.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are very sorry if the parking arrangement is not what you had expected. This property does have parking included, but it is, as you highlight, in a nearby car park. We try to make this, and the distance from the parking, as clear as possible within the website description, as this may not suit everyone. It was such a shame to also hear of your disappointment with the level of cleanliness. That is certainly not the 'norm' for this property and housekeeper. We would never expect for you to have to spend time cleaning on arrival and we are sorry that we were not aware at the time of your stay so that we could send the housekeeper back immediately, to rectify any concerns. At this point, it is difficult for us to fully assess the standard that the housekeeper left the property, with further cleans having now taken place, but please rest assured that your comments have been taken seriously and a spot check has been carried out since to ensure that the standard of clean is being done to the high level that guests, the property owner and ourselves here at Aspects, would expect. Thank you for letting us know. Tanya, Customer Services

Gorgeous cottage in beautiful picturesque Mevagissey. The walk from the car park to the property is quite steep but manageable. Virginia (who looks after the property) was amazing.

We had an excellent week in Sunny Bank. The property was excellently equipped and comfortable. We loved the sun terrace for morning coffee and evening drinks - it was indeed a 'sunny' terrace. You needed to be fit to stay here as it is very steep everywhere but this was made clear to us when booking. I would recommend Sunny Bank for a relaxing week away.

Sunny Bank truly lived up to its name as we enjoyed sitting on the sunny terrace with a cup of tea on seversl afternoons after walking the coast path. The location is excellent, very close to all village amenities and a few minutes walk from Willow Car Park. The short but steep climb and slightly tricky access is rewarded by a nice view of rooftops, seagulls and sunsets.

Sunny Bank is very comfortable and well equipped. We were fortunate to have sunshine during our stay and were able to sit on the terrace in the late afternoons before going to eat. There is a short-cut down a few flight of steps from the cottage into the centre of Mevagissey and the dock area making all local amenities very convenient for the cottage. We would be very happy to stay there again.
