St Agnes Holidays

St Agnes provides the perfect base to explore the North Cornwall coastline. With stunning scenery on the doorstep, and a plethora of activities available all year round, there's something to do for everyone. Take a stroll along the streets which are full of quaint shops and cafes or for those looking to be a bit more adventurous, why not try your hand at surfing with one of the local surf schools.

The beaches of Trevaunance Cove, Trevellas Porth, Chapel Porth, and Porthtowan are all closeby, which are all worthy of a visit and each offering something different.

Whats On

A 'must see' event among both locals and visitors is the St Agnes Bolster Festival, which tells the story of the bolster giant which was known to terrorise the locals. This takes place on the May bank holiday weekend each year.

St Agnes Carnival takes place each year during the first week of August. Locals gather along with tourists who have travelled especially for this special occasion.

Located on the North coast of Cornwall, St Agnes is a popular surf spot among both locals and visitors. It is more suited to advanced surfers, however if you fancy a go, there are two excellent surf schools nearby to show you the ropes. The nearby beaches at Porthtowan, Perranporth and Portreath are all good for surfing too, so you'll have plenty to choose from when deciding where to go. Read more on our blog about the best surf spots in Cornwall. St Agnes is also home to the World Bellyboarding Championships which take place each year at St Agnes beach. Find out more about bellyboarding on our blog.

St Pirans Day Celebrations

Gool Perran Lowen - Happy St Piran's Day in Cornish!

St Piran's Day, celebrated on March 5th, is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of Cornwall's patron saints. According to legend, St Piran, a 5th century Irish Abbot, was thrown into the sea in Ireland tied to a mill stone; somehow he washed up on the Cornish coast still alive. He made Cornwall his new home and became the patron saint of tin-miners after rediscovering tin smelting.

Today, Cornwall still celebrates his heritage. On the closest Sunday to St Piran's day, Perranorth hosts one of the largest St Piran's celebrations. Held at the dunes on Perranporth, a play is performed to re-enact St Piran's life. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to dress in black, white and gold, the colours of Cornwall.

Other celebrations will be held in various locations across Cornwall.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Goonown Barn -Bowjy for almost a week. It’s well located for an enjoyable holiday in St Agnes itself, as well as for getting around into other parts of Cornwall.

Sep 2019

A comfortable and attractive property- ideal for families with children and dogs. Great location within St Agnes and Cornwall for exploring. Generally well equipped with comfortable beds and an attractive terrace area.

Aug 2019

Bowjy is a comfortable and very clean and well equipped house. The heating is via storage heaters and so if you are staying there when heating is needed do take enough clothes to be warm - the heating doesn't work until after the first night. The host kindly supplied a carton of milk which was a great help for the first night. We'll certainly consider staying there again - great location for lots of places in Cornwall.

Thank you for your feedback. Night storage heaters work a little differently to gas central heating systems that many of us are used to, but should still provide enough warmth in a property, as long as they have been turned on it time for your arrival. It sounds like they hadn't been turned on in plenty of time though, so we are really sorry about that, and will follow up on this. It was great to hear that you had otherwise enjoyed your time there, and we hope to see you back soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Lovely traditional cottages, warm and within walking distance of the centre of lovely St Agnes, with its fantastic beach, bakery and of course "the Aggie" St Agnes Hotel where a warm friendly welcome awaits

Nov 2018

I cannot understand how other reviewers can call this cottage well equipped. Cooking equipment is minimal. The only spatula available was a reject from a very cheap barbecue set. Plenty of forks & spoons but only 5 table knives, 2 of which even matched. Housekeeping, if you can call it that, leaves a lot to be desired. The cottage had not been cleaned. We have stayed at Goonown Barns on a number of occasions because it is convenient for our son's home but we will not be returning. A family visit ruined.

We are very sorry to hear that this property and standards of cleaning did not meet the usual high standards that you have experienced there in the past. A member of the team here had been in contact with you at the time of your stay and since your return home, regarding your concerns. I hope that the actions taken both at the time, and since, have helped to restore your faith, and that we may have the opportunity to assist you in future, if ever you are looking to return to this area. Bowji is comfortable and peaceful. In walking distance of the local shops and pubs and only about 25 minutes walking distance from the very exceptable beach.

St Agnes is very pretty village with plenty of facilities - good places to eat, good local shops including a bakery, grocery and butchers shops. There is even a Vets!

It is also in a strategic position for exploring Cornwall.

Jul 2018

We had a very enjoyable stay at Bowji cottage at Goonan Farmhouse. The bungalow was well equipped, very clean and had everything we needed for a week's visit to Cornwall. It was a bonus that we could take our little dog. We enjoyed sitting on the patio after our activities of the day. We would definitely stay here again.

May 2018

Great location for us as a family. Surfing is something we do as a family and the location of the cottages afforded us easy and quick journeys to many beaches.

Oct 2017

Our week at Bowjy in late September was an absolute joy. It was comfy, cosy, dog friendly, everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining area ample. Sofas and beds were comfortable and welcoming.

Parking was a breeze, right outside, which was handy for the dogs, as was the field at the back, they thoroughly enjoyed a romp around there in the mornings before we set off out for the day.

The cottage is just on the perimeter of St. Agnes village but it's literally a five minute walk to the centre and the pub, shops, chemists etc. Absolutely ideal. A great property in a great position. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Many thanks to all at Aspects for their efficient, friendly service and facilitating a very enjoyable stay. We'll be back!

Sep 2017

Unable to say anything suitable for publishing regards the cottage. St agnes on the other hand is a beautiful place as I know very well as I know Cornwall very well and vist several times a year.

We are sorry to see that you had not found Goonown Barn- Bowjy, to meet the expected standards. We have since been in contact, but again would like to apologise for what you had experienced on this occasion. We have spoken to the owner of the property, and a temporary cleaner had been in place on that changeover, and clearly, areas missed; we are very sorry for this. I hope that what we discussed has reassured you that we take this kind of feedback very seriously and has helped to reassure you that this is not the norm at this property. Tanya, Customer Services

Comfortable, quiet cottage. Nice walk to shops and not too far to walk to the beach. Grass playing fields for the kids just out the back. Spacious parking right outside the cottage.
