The sandy, sheltered Porth beach is one of Newquay's finest, and with a vast expanse of sand and plenty of rock pools at low tide, it's perfect for a family day at the beach. It's also lifeguarded between 10am and 6pm during the summer months. To the east of the beach you'll find Porth Island, featuring evidence of an iron age settement, and accessible only via a narrow foot bridge!

Whipsiderry is great for exploring, with plenty of rock pools to keep you busy. Although the steps down to the beach are a little tricky to negotiate, it's well worth the journey. Plus - this beach is dog friendly all year!

Things to do

One of the best walks is the coastal path, you can follow this to Watergate Bay, and if you're up to it, all the way to Mawgan Porth. You'll experience breathtaking views, and if you're lucky, you may even see some sea life!

Roo's Beach, in Porth, is a high-end fashion and lifestyle shop where you'll find stylish clothes, shoes, make-up, stationary, candles, crockery, blankets and more.

Further afield, Newquay high street has a range of shops where you'll find everything you need from food, to toiletries, to gifts.

Other activities

If you're looking for something more active to do, you can try out zorbing at Cornwall Zorbing Park

Alternatively, if relaxation is what you're looking for, the spa at Sands resort is open to the public.

Great location

All ten of us (three generations ) had a wonderful time at the Cove and would have booked again for next year had it not already been full - perhaps 2022!

The Cove is a great house for a holiday in Cornwall. Plenty of room (and bathrooms!), well equipped and spotlessly clean. Lovely to find tea, coffee and homemade cake on arrival after a long journey. Great sea views and wonderfully close to the beach. Would definitely recommend.

Well done Aspect we will be back

We had a wonderful holiday at The Cove. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. There were even freshly baked flapjacks to welcome us! Delicious! Great location as beach just across the road. It was great to relax on the front patio and admire the amazing views. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect large house. Well equipped, good quality beds with cotton linens, tasteful furnishings, noise between rooms was minimal, fantastic location, great to have so many ensuite bathrooms. I miss the sea view!

We really enjoyed staying in this property for a family holiday, it’s been beautifully and thoughtfully furnished throughout and is in a great location right next to Porth beach.

We absolutely LOVED The Cove! Every need was catered for! From the kids games, beach toys, amazing pressed coffee and the outside seating, I cannot fault anything because it was a perfect stay! Absolutely loved the homemade lemon cake on arrival, that was a lovely welcome! We had a mixture of children and adults from 5 years to 80 years, and everyone was well taken care of in terms of facilities provided. The location was excellent for the beach and the morning walks, and the fresh pizza from the opposite Mermaid Inn was delicious. A perfect family house in a superb location with sea views!

The property was exceptional and of a very high standard. The whole family ranging from age 71 to 16 months really enjoyed our time there. The beach was only about 100 yards away, great for the children. The decking at the front of the property was just perfect, and we spent many a night there watching the sunset.

Beautiful house, fabulous location. Spotlessly clean and everything thought of for your stay 5*.
