Comfy beds and nice hot shower. Great location for exploring the coast around Newquay. We walked to lusty glaze beach then in to Newquay once which was a nice walk but beware of the steep hill on the way back! There is a small balcony but no view of the sea unfortunately it’s just the car park at the back. I guess you’d pay a lot more for a sea view - the price was pretty good for the location. Very clean and everything you needed was there.

Holidays in Porth

With a beautiful, sandy and sheltered beach on the doorstep, and only a 15-minute walk from everything Newquay has to offer, the area of Porth is ideal for a relaxing holiday by the sea.

Porth has an interesting history, dating back centuries. Porth Island, also known as Trevelgue Head was the site of an Iron age fort, with remains still evident today, dating back to the Bronze age. The beach also played a vital role when Newquay became a china clay port; importing coal from south Wales.

Top tip

Pack a picnic and enjoy a day at the beach!

The sandy, sheltered Porth beach is one of Newquay's finest, and with a vast expanse of sand and plenty of rock pools at low tide, it's perfect for a family day at the beach. It's also lifeguarded between 10am and 6pm during the summer months. To the east of the beach you'll find Porth Island, featuring evidence of an iron age settement, and accessible only via a narrow foot bridge!

Whipsiderry is great for exploring, with plenty of rock pools to keep you busy. Although the steps down to the beach are a little tricky to negotiate, it's well worth the journey. Plus - this beach is dog friendly all year!

Things to do

One of the best walks is the coastal path, you can follow this to Watergate Bay, and if you're up to it, all the way to Mawgan Porth. You'll experience breathtaking views, and if you're lucky, you may even see some sea life!

Roo's Beach in Porth, is a high-end fashion and lifestyle shop where you'll find stylish clothes, shoes, make-up, stationary, candles, crockery, blankets and more.

Further afield, Newquay high street has a range of shops where you'll find everything you need from food, to toiletries, to gifts.

Other activities

If you're looking for something more active to do, you can try out zorbing at Cornwall Zorbing Park

Alternatively, if relaxation is what you're looking for, the spa at Sands resort is open to the public.

The location of this property is stunning!! Everything you need is included, if you want somewhere in a good location with a beach on your doorstep this is the place! Be aware traffic into Newquay can be very heavy during the summer!

Myself, a friend and our two 17 year old sons stayed at the Boatman’s Loft for a short break over the summer. The facilities were good and the accommodation very nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. The location was excellent and we enjoyed a few great nights on the beaches (all an easy walking distance from the apartment) watching the beautiful sunsets. Whipsiderry Beach highly recommended for its natural beauty and sunsets is across the road from the Boatman’s Loft. 5 minutes drive away is Watergate Bay where our boys enjoyed surfing lessons and surfing days. Watergate also has an excellent restaurant on the beach. Booking and communication with Aspect Holidays was good, the property well described and actually better than our expectations. I would highly recommend them and would certainly book with Aspect Holidays again. Mrs Karen Atkinson

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Boatman’s Loft. It’s a fantastic spot over the road from Whipsiderry and close to Porth and Watergate Bay, as well as Newquay. Lovely bright apartment with everything you could need.

The location is good Apartment well equipped and fully central heated Parking a bonus Apartment in need of some tlc regarding paintwork and cleanliness in places Outside needs some attention aswell balcony rotting Bed uncomfortable Could hear all the noise throughout the upstairs apartment

This apartment could have a lot more going for it if it’s given the attention it needs. Would I stay again I’m not so sure.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. We were sorry to read that there were some areas of the property that would make you question whether to book this property again, but we are pleased to now report that the owners have let us know that they have installed brand new decking, a new gate and a new mattress. Whilst apartments can come with a risk of hearing some noise from adjoining properties, this is not often something that is raised as an issue at this property, but with differing guests in the apartment upstairs each week, the level of noise is likely to vary from one week to the next. We hope that with the changes made by the owner, this great apartment and the fantastic location may be somewhere that you would still consider if you were ever looking to return to Cornwall. Fantastic stay, exactly where we wanted to be, close to bars and restaurants but far enough out to feel close to the beautiful beaches of Porth and Watergate Bay.

Accommodation was comfortable and clean throughout, everything we needed was available, including cleaning products, cool bags, towels, although we brought our own items in any event.

The main bedroom is large with an en-suite, the smaller bedroom is ideal for children, plenty of storage and nice little out door space and additional balcony.

The location is excellent, walk out of the main car park and cross the road to Beach, Porth is close with a bar (the Mermaid) with cheap honest food and lovely beach beer garden, nice tapas and coffee shop right across the road also from Porth Beach.

Easy walk into Newquay, takes about 30/35mins if reasonably fit, but a bus stop nearby if you don’t want to walk.

Would highly recommend the Boat-mans Loft, and Aspects we’re always available for any needs to may have, fantastic service and would recommend booking with Aspects for piece of mind, reassurance and value for money.

Great stay in a good location outside of Newquay, Well equipped, comfortable, cosy with easy access to lots of small villages and restaurants within easy reach, easy private parking. Porth beach just a walk down the hill. Newquay is probably not the best town in Cornwall and lacks charm & character But our overall experience was great and would recommend for couples.

What a fantastic stay at the Boatmans Loft. A fantastic apartment with a lovely balcony for evening drinks. Beautifully decorated and spacious double room. Car park which the balcony looks over. nice twin room single bed on floor is a good size, the upper one is slightly smaller but perfect for two children or a couple of young adults. Main single bed perfect and very comfortable. Lots of kitchen items, nothing, nothing missing. they even left milk tea/coffee and sugar single use ;-) Double room was spacious but there is no dressing table and we could not find a hairdryer. Nice courtyard with picnic bench and side area for kids to get fresh air with a gated area. Location is lovely up from Porth Beach, the Mermaid Pub and a Tapas Bar. Not much else but then a short drive to everywhere else. Be mindful this place is on a bank and you have to walk up it!

Really nice place to stay great location for the beach a home away from home would recommend ??

Boatmans loft was a great apartment for our minimoon. Clean, comfy, modern, had everything we needed for a week away. walking distance to porth beach and watergate bay. 5 minute drive to Newquay. Would recommend to anyone! Will be booking with aspect holidays again!

Perfect little holiday cottage, ideal for our honeymoon. Great location, fantastic spot for watching the sunset-just over the road to the beach.

We had a fabulous stay here, moments from the coastal path and stunning sea views and amazing sunsets. The apartment was equipped and decorated to a high standard with spacious master bedroom and ensuite. Would stay again!

Would highly recommend this to anyone. Great location and brilliant facilities. I will be staying here again.

Overall, good value for money.

Excellent location, close to Porth beach which is beautiful. Great as a base for exploring Newquay and North Cornwall coast. Decent pub which also serves food just down the hill in Porth.

Good amount of space for two people. Might be a little cosy with children. One of the beds in the second bedroom will only accommodate a small child.

Kitchen equipment is not ideal - recommend bringing own knives etc. We had trouble using the oven.

Bathrooms are decent with good water pressure.

We had quite a bit of noise from the upstairs apartment (sounded like children running back and forth) so if this is likely to annoy you, it might not be the apartment for you.

But overall it is a decent little apartment. The issues we had were minor annoyances, we had a lovely holiday here.

Thank you for your review. We were pleased to see that you had a lovely holiday at Boatman's Loft and that you found it to be such a good place for exploring the local area and further afield. We were sorry to see that you thought the kitchen equipment could do with updating and we appreciate you highlighting where you thought this could be improved; we have passed on your comments to the property owner. When staying in an apartment there is a chance that you may hear the noise from the property above, but we would always hope that people in an above apartment would be as respectful to others as possible and thankfully, noise like you described is not a regular report from guests at this property. Thanks again for your feedback, we hope to see you again soon. Ben. Customer Services

Boatman's Loft is perfect for a beach break. With three beaches near by, the great location means that you don't have to travel to the busy beaches in Newquay itself. The apartment is lovely and quiet, clean and comfortable - perfect for our family of 3. (Having two bathrooms was a bonus!)

Excellent location for beaches however the apartment could do with some tlc feels like someone’s lived there and left all their belongings. And outdoor furniture is dangerous and un usable if you have children.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. We are pleased to report that following your feedback, the owners have now ordered new sofas and the outside furniture has been attended to. Unfortunately, being left outside and exposed to the sea air, they can deteriorate quite quickly, but we are very sorry that we had not been aware until you had mentioned this. Thanks for letting us know and we hope that you enjoyed the amazing location of Boatman's Loft. Tanya, Customer Services

Great little apartment, so close to Whipsderry beach, and Porth.

We are a family of 4 (two girls 11 & 7) this suited us fine. Close to surf schools and close enough to Newquay if you wanted to pop in or avoid you could do either.

Apartment well equipped. Nice and quite so perfect for a family
