Polzeath

Polzeath holidays

Polzeath is a charming village, whose fans include famous faces such as the royal princes, William and Harry who have spent time catching the waves here. Hit the beaches for a day of surfing and sunbathing, explore the coastline, climb up the hill to Pentire Head to view The Rumps; an unusual collection of hills or indulge in one of the eateries serving up local produce!

Beaches

A haven for surfers, Polzeath beach is the place for both novices and professionals. The shape of the bay creates fabulous waves and the beach itself is flat and sandy with plenty of rockpools to keep children entertained! During the summer months you can feel reassured knowing a lifeguard service is provided. Over the hill to the south, less than a mile away you will find Daymer Bay which has a larger river beach and swathes of sand; perfect for building sandcastles! Whilst Polzeath has restrictions on dogs, Daymer Bay welcomes dogs all year round.

Walks

If you’re an avid walker, Polzeath is sure to delight! With several walks to enjoy that take you in a loop around Polzeath, as well as awe-inspiring coastal routes leading you further afield to explore other nearby villages, there is something for everyone.

Things to do

Despite being away from the hustle and bustle of better known tourist hot spots, Polzeath still has plenty to see and do. While away an afternoon exploring the town, pop into the Whitewater Gallery to admire the art and perhaps pick up a souvenir or two, take a surfing lesson or an adventure day tour before rounding your day off by visiting one of Polzeath’s fabulous restaurants for dinner!

St Pirans Day Celebrations

Gool Perran Lowen - Happy St Piran's Day in Cornish!

St Piran's Day, celebrated on March 5th, is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of Cornwall's patron saints. According to legend, St Piran, a 5th century Irish Abbot, was thrown into the sea in Ireland tied to a mill stone; somehow he washed up on the Cornish coast still alive. He made Cornwall his new home and became the patron saint of tin-miners after rediscovering tin smelting.

Today, Cornwall still celebrates St Piran's Day, with various celebrations held across Cornwall.
