Smeaton Cottage is a perfectly positioned property, spread over three floors, with some of the most amazing sea views, which you can see from every room, except one! If you're looking for a traditional and quirky artist's cottage, then this is the place for you. Looking out of the windows in each room you can view all sorts of aspects of the harbour and St Ives Bay. Needless to say, you can hop out of your front door to the shops, beaches and restaurants with ease - this really could be one of the most sought after locations in the town.

In the second sitting room, you will find the most delightful window seat, where you can relax and gaze out to sea, feeling the warmth of the sun on your face, as you watch the boats and the seals go by. As the evening draws in, enjoy your favourite tipple while watching the moon rise.

Additional information

gas central heating, please note that the property has a retro and very quirky style with mainly original fixtures, fittings and furnishings and has been priced to reflect this, due to the fact the property is built into the rock and the proximity to the sea you may find that salts can come through some paintwork, although the owner does keep on top of this regularly, WiFi.

 

Smeaton Cottage is perfect for all the family...wildly romantic yet practical for sand and sea. We loved it!

You can’t go anywhere in this cottage without having a view of the sea and being able to sit watch and listen to st Ives is a bonus to a relaxing holiday. We saw seals gannets and life boat drill from the comfort of our chairs For those chill spring evenings the central heating and log burner add further comfort

St Ives Harbour

The Wharf, otherwise known as St Ives harbour, is a hive of activity throughout the year. With a continual hustle and bustle on the water and along the harbour front, there is always plenty to do and see while self catering at the Wharf, even at the quieter times of the year.  It’s an ever changing scene so perfect for those artists among you. Don’t forget about the very sheltered, sandy Harbour Beach, a perfect sun-trap in the heart of town and a great place to find seaglass and sea pottery! As night falls at the end of another perfect day, St Ives comes alive with a selection of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit every pocket and every taste in a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Boat Trips

Why not enjoy the scenery by boat and explore the coastline with an excursion with St Ives Boat Trips. Fishing trips are available for those looking for a bit of adventure, or for a more relaxing experience, a visit to seal island lets you see seals basking on the rocks at certain times of year. 

Eating and Drinking

The Wharf is home to a wide selection of restaurants and cafes, serving up fresh fish and chips to gourmet burgers, with something to suit everyone. Enjoy an ice cream or Cornish pasty and watch the world go by on the harbour front, but remember to keep your wits about you; seagulls in St Ives are renowned for swooping in and stealing food right from your hands!

Smeaton's Pier

From here you'll get a stunning view of the harbour, and an up close view of the crystal clear waters. At the entrance to the pier you'll find St Leonard's Chapel; originally dedicated for local fisherman, it is now a museum and memorial for the fisherman of St Ives.

Lifeboat station

Home to the new £1.5 million lifeboat, the RNLI lifeboat station is a popular attraction for visitors to St Ives. The gift shop next door sells souvenirs where all profits go towards helping to save lives at sea.

New Year's Eve in St Ives

Spend New Year's Eve in St Ives for an unforgettable evening at the largest fancy dress party in the county. Ring in the New Year with an unbeatable fireworks display by the sea.

St Ives Feast Day

Held on the anniversary of the consecration of the Parish Church of St Eia in 1434 AD, Feast Day offers visitors to witness - and even join in with - some centuries-old traditions. A morning precesison led by the Mayor to bless the Well of St Eia. Following this, the Mayor will 'Hurls the Silver Ball' into a crowd of children who assemble on the beach below. The one who returns the ball to the Guildhall steps by midday receives a silver coin. In the afternoon the Mayor then throw pennies from the balcony of the Guildhall for children to collect.
