19 Piazza
Porthmeor, St Ives

£527 - £1550 per week
Book

19 Piazza is a very quirky and retro beachside apartment, with absolutely stunning views over Porthmeor beach. You can nip straight to the beach, or within minutes you can be in the town centre. It is a top floor maisonette of a striking 1960s block of apartments, built on Porthmeor beach. The apartment has two balconies for you to enjoy. One facing East over the town, and the other facing West over the beach, so you can be guaranteed to make the most of the weather.

The majority of the original 1960s fixtures and fittings are in place and the furniture also reflects this style. The apartment is split over three floors and consists of two downstairs bedrooms and one bathroom and an entry level open-plan living/kitchen/dining room with the balcony overlooking the beach. There is also a small mezzanine level which leads to the private balcony facing the harbour and the town - this can be a real sun trap! The apartment used to be owned by artist F.E.McWilliam, whose family still own the property today. They recently found out that David Bowie held some of F.E.McWilliam's artwork in his own private collection!

We loved this apartment it suited our needs and was comfortable. The two balconies were perfect. We loved the three levels perfect space as we had two teenage grandchildren with us so plenty of room to chill out. As senior citizens we didn’t find the flights of stairs to access the apartment a problem but we are active and fit. The parking space was tight for our medium sized car and I don’t think we would use it if we stayed again but that’s just us. The garage dimensions are specified in the property description.

19 Piazza is a wonderful place to stay when in St. Ives, we come back to it every few years and have always enjoyed our stays. The new decor and furniture fit the style of the apartment and are comfortable. The views from the balcony and main bedroom are of course the top factor for us. Whether it is watching out for the best surfing waves, watching the stars at night or the antics of people on the beach, we love it. There are several flights of stairs up to number 19 and it may be that this isn't suitable for everyone, but if you do manage them it is really worth the effort.

Perfect family holiday for 4, my and my husband along with two kids (early 20's). This appartment is really spacious, fabulous high ceilings and the mezanine is a real plus point. It's really bright and airy and had everything we needed. The bedrooms in particular are really spacious with loads of storage. We loved the quirky features within and although the kitchen is not top spec it has everything you could possibly need and it all fits in perfectly. The two terraces were perfect, both with amazing views and all day sun if the beach isn't your thing. We have been coming to St Ives for years and this is by far the best accommodation and value for money we have ever had. Loads of books and games and of course the TV, but who wants to watch TV when the sun doesn't set till late and its light till 10! Also, not to forget how wonderful it is to have parking, although a little steep and the space tight it does make arrival so much easier when you have somewhere to park. A fabulous place to stay - we will be back.

Property lovely but stairs to apartment are a killer especially if suffer from illness. Car parking very tight

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad that you liked it here but sorry if the stairs were not what you were expecting. We try to make this as clear as possible in the description that it is a top floor apartment via 3 flights of external stone steps, as well as the apartment itself being over 3 floors, as we appreciate this is an important consideration for some. The parking space will also not suit every car, so we include measurements on the website to help guests make sure that this will be appropriate for them. We really do hope that this was all stuff that you expected and that it still worked well for you. If not, and if you are ever booking in the future, please do not hesitate to contact the team so that we can help you to find something that will be more suitable. We are always very happy to help, and being locally based, the team are very knowledgeable about the properties and locations of them. Tanya, Customer Services

19 Piazza is arguably one of the best locations ( if not the best ) in St Ives. The flat is very spacious but furniture not that comfortable. The parking is very secure, but very tight to get in to. The kitchen quite simply needs replacing.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad that you enjoyed that amazing location; it is pretty spectacular, isn't it? Unfortunately, with a lot of properties in this kind of location, they were not built with today's traffic and vehicle sizes in mind, so it is quite common for spaces to be smaller than we are used to with more modern properties. We try to make this as clear as possible in the website descriptions, and for this property include specific details about the space size and access as it is a particularly tight space. We do hope that this was what you had expected. It can be very difficult finding furniture that will suit everyone’s preferences and tastes, but we will certainly pass on your feedback to the owner, for their future consideration and continue to monitor any further feedback. Likewise with the kitchen, we will pass on your suggestion and again hope that this was what you expected from the website photos. Thank you for letting us know your thoughts. Fantastic location and views. Be prepared for the walk up the levels to the apartment. Parking spaces are tight but maybe Assisted Parking would help. We ended up getting a council parking pass. But the apartment itself was spacious and warm and the views of the ever-changing sea spectacular! There were loads of books here for a good holiday read and local interest. Can't wait to book sgain!

Location is the selling point of this flat. Just amazing especially at high tide! Interior as described in particulars, if you are of a 'certain age', rather nostalgic!

2nd visit here. We love the more open style which lets the light in and through. Everything there for us to eat, sleep, watch, relax and play games all with the constant presence of the sea and sky.

Spacious apartment with amazing views, almost feels like being on a ship! Light floods in from both sides and we enjoyed the balcony (even in December) and appreciated the binoculars. Location is perfect for both beach and town so excellent all year round.

Internally well equipped and fairly comfortable (a few cushions would make the sofa more comfy) functional original kitchen, appreciate its in keeping with the style but really needs a refurb. Ultimately you stay here for the incredible view so we would stay again.

We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the spectacular views from 19 Piazza, they really are great to enjoy all year round whatever the weather. Thank you for your feedback regarding the kitchen, we aim to offer a wide range of properties that we hope will meet the different budgets, differing requirements and individual tastes of all guests. Your comments have automatically been passed along to the owner so they can consider your suggestions for any future improvements. We look forward to welcoming you back to 19 Piazza soon! Katy, Customer Services.

Not a hint of Next, M&S or IKEA, just comfortable beds and contemporary furniture from the 1960's. I agree with the description that it's maybe not for children or anyone who has trouble with stairs, but those views and the sound of the sea. I don't think we watched the TV or read much while we were there. Who needed either when the sea is literally on the doorstep. The evenings were a bit chilly, but we took jumpers. We will be back.

A beautifully presented and stylish flat in the perfect location close to everything. The views are just stunning, we spent many hours just mesmerised at the ever-changing sea. We definitely plan on returning to 19 Piazza.

Great architectural apartment, lovely volumes, generous spaces and beautiful light penetration, amazing views, perfect location....with parking!

Our annual visit to no.19 Piazza never fails to deliver. Each year the apartment is subtly improved to make your stay even better. From the lovely touches of keeping the original wooden features, clean white walls and even down to the retro games in the cupboards.. nothing offends or distracts, from the perfect back drop; the stunning sea, sky, beach and Island views.. of which you’ll never tire. For me, it feels like staying in a favourite family members house… warm touches everywhere. Yes with every rental in St Ives, there are compromises, yes the parking space is tiny (but doable), and there are lots of stairs.. but the pay offs are sooo sooo much more. Being right in the heart of things, by the beach, near Norway Stores… are all priceless…. and breathe….

A simple, spacious flat with light. If you want very easy access, plush furnishings and whizz tech this isn’t for you, but we loved the style.

Amazing views and coastal location right on porthmeor beach, wonderful coastal walks on the doorstep, and minutes away from great restaurants and shops in St Ives - perfect combination

19 Piazza is all about the location. The view from the main bedroom is just stunning. Our family of 4 loved our stay.

Absolutely fantastic accommodation with superb views. Really comfortable beds, fantastic shower and lots of added extras like the beach tent, the Binoculars, the old fashioned body boards and even an Umbrella! Loved the little touches like our swan towels, tea, coffee, milk etc We had a fantastic holiday with boys aged 12 & 14 who we could watch from the balcony being kids in the sea.

Great Holiday, would highly recommend. Two balconies for sun lovers, in a great location close to town and the beach. Will stay again. Thanks

A wonderful apartment in a truly magnificent location - we had a fantastic holiday (including seeing seals and dolphins) and will definitely be rebooking in the future.

A stay in No.19 Piazza is a real joy... the apartment is very relaxing to stay in, with minimal, tasteful decor throughout. Really well maintained & cleaned by Aspect Holidays. Enough mod-cons while keeping some original features & the heritage of when the buildings were build. The views from the apartment are what keep us coming back year after year.. the mix of the beach, sea, Island and coastline .. constantly changing.. it’s no hardship to shelter there, from seasonal weather. It’s a short few steps to the local Norway Stores for any groceries & morning newspapers. Once we park up or car in the secure underground car park, we rarely need to use it.. as St Ives has everything we need, from shops, cafes & numerous walks.. long and short. I should probably not gush about it so much, as I’ll create extra demand, and not find it quite so easy to book again.

Perfect location directly over the beach. Nice lay out and plenty of space in the apartment. There were some issues for us with the shower and cooker but they got resolved.

We loved staying in this stylish apartment.

Fabulous location! We’ve had a lovely time.

As others have said the views are unbeatable and the best we have ever had in our many stays in St. Ives. The apartment is in a fantastic location, the 55 steps are very manageable unless you struggle with stairs or have a buggy. It is not a luxury apartment, but it is perfectly fine and we would happily go back.

was an amazing place to stay, booking was easy.

Lovely view from this flat and superb location. We had a great week here. However the furnishings are rather tired and the whole place needs some tlc. The garage is built for 1960s cars so it is very narrow. Therefore you have to empty the car of your luggage before you park, as you can't get the door open far enough to get your luggage out once it's in the garage. To be fair Aspects do warn you of this. It's best if you can take a fairly small car and pack light as there are many stairs to this flat. After a week you feel very fit!

Thank you for your helpful comments. We have since been in to inspect the property and whilst the owner would like to keep the 1960's style and as many of the original fixtures and fittings as they can, so that it remains authentic; she has organised for a full re-paint of the property, and there will be a couple of updates to fittings, to ensure that it is all maintained to the standard that it should be. Thanks again, and we hope that you had a great week. Tanya, Customer Services

Position of apartment unrivalled. All as described and adequate for our needs

Sorry to say this apartment ruined our holiday . original fittings can be wonderful but this is absolutely in need of a refurbishment. Shabby and grubby , chipped doors & paint . No hoover so can’t clean al the rugs . No banister on one side of both stairs . No home comforts at all. Minimal and shabby is how I would describe it. Size and location is the only thing it has going for it in afraid.

We were so sorry to read that you had been so disappointed by this property, especially given the very special occasion that you were here for, and we are sorry that it doesn't look like we had been aware of any of your concerns at the time of your stay, so that we could see what we could do to help. The decor is of a style that would not suit everyone's taste, and 19 Piazza is not marketed out to be one of our more high end properties but priced accordingly and had met all required standards in the last inspection. We try to show this as clearly as possible within the photos and description, and show the layout of the stairs, with wooden open treads and no banisters to one side, which may be something that those with young children would want to be aware of. However a lot can happen in a short space of time in properties that are very heavily booked, so we will ensure that your comments are passed on to the property owner, and the property team will check on all of this to ensure that it has not changed significantly since the last inspection. We hope that you still enjoyed St Ives and thanks again for taking the time to send in your feedback. Tanya, Customer Services

Stunning views and right on the beach. Comes with parking too so another headache ticked off. Clean bright and airy, a special home from home in a special part of Cornwall.

A superb apartment in an amazing location if you can manage the 58 steps, we certainly came back fitter than we went and the exercise justified the number of pasties and ice creams we ate. We received perfect service from Aspects from start to finish. The apartment, as well as having the best view in St Ives is very well equipped with everything you would need including a great shower which is unusual when on the the top floor. Highly recommend Aspects and19 Piazza

This apartment is all about the views, they are lovely. The apartment is also very quiet at night and also spacious. However is is very basic, don’t expect any luxuries. Pack light as if is a long way from the very small parking space to the front door!

Thank you for your comments and glad to hear that you enjoyed those views and all the space on offer at this property. There are quite a number of stairs to get to this top floor apartment (54), and stairs inside the apartment, so that is certainly something to consider, especially like you said, on arrival and departure days when you have all of your luggage, but we are glad to hear that you thought that it was worth it once you were in there! Tanya, Customer Services

Had a fantastic holiday in St Ives weather was spectacular and we stayed in a property with views across porthmeor beach This was the best location we have stayed in so far in St Ives and we cannot wait to return to St Ives and the Cornwall area.

Providing you can mange 50+ steps you will be rewarded with spectacular views from a pleasant and spacious apartment. As an Interior Designer myself I would love to give the interior a fresh new scheme and a new kitchen but as it stands the apartment is perfectly adequate and well equipped with good appliances. Our inability to connect to the WiFi and the lack of appropriate art we’re a negative factor.

Thank you for your review of 19 Piazza; we are glad to hear that you enjoyed those amazing views from that property; you certainly couldn't get much closer to the beach! There are a lot of steps to get to the property, with more inside, which we try to make clear on the description, as we appreciate that this may be a problem for some, but we hope that you agreed that it was completely worth it for the views that greeted you. The owner wanted to keep its interior unique, maintaining many original fixtures fittings and furnishings, which may not be to everyone's taste, but we hope that you still liked it. Thank you for also letting us know about the Wi-Fi, which was resolved as soon as we were aware. Unfortunately services like this do sometimes go down, but we will always do everything that we can with the property owners and the Wi-Fi service providers to get this rectified as soon as possible. Thanks again for your helpful comments, and we hope to see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Our first time with Aspect holidays. Service was excellent, communication both before and during our stay was superb and the team at the wharf office were lovely and friendly. Would definitely book through them again.

Fantastic apartment for a great family holiday been to St Ives many times over the years and this is one of the best stays we've had from the sun trap balcony on the mezzanine level to watching the surfers from beachside balcony it doesn't get better tried to book for next year but already full as you cant beat the location will find a gap though and will be back soon

Spacious and light filled, with a view over Porthmeor beach to die for!

Fantastic apartment at a great price for that location, easy beach access, and good clean well kept courtyard. Wonderful views with the sea under your window, warm and cosy on colder evenings, lovely comfortable beds with white cotton bedding. Well equipped, plenty of cutlery, washing up equipment, all you need is beach towels! Really enjoyed our stay and will be definitely back again. Missing the place already...

We had a fantastic anniversary here! The views literally took our breaths away as we entered the property. Waking up to the view of porthmore was incredible! couldnt of asked for better!

Fantastic location

We had an amazing time at 19 Piazza. We've stayed in many places in Cornwall but this location can't be beaten. The views from the main bedroom and balcony are spectacular and the direct access to the beach very handy. The apartment has a charming mix of retro and modern, plus lots of extras to make it feel homely.

Lovely location, excellent views, easy access to town and beach. It's wonderful.
