Holidays in West Cornwall

There is almost an embarrassment of riches for the visitor to choose from when looking at holiday cottages in West Cornwall. With its extraordinary variety of landscapes and coastline, as well as its proud history and cultural heritage, you won't be disappointed.

With many superb beaches to enjoy, including five with the coveted Blue Flag status, it is easy to see why so many people associate this part of the world with sun, sea, sand and, of course, surf. There is, however, so much more on offer when contemplating self catering holidays in West Cornwall.

West Cornwall is home to popular destinations such as MarazionPenzanceCarbis Bay and St Ives, which are all worth a visit. From the iconic St Michael's Mount to the breath taking Minack Theatre as featured in our blog, you wont be short of things to do while self catering in West Cornwall.

Things to do in West Cornwall

Days out

With such an abundance of stunning sights in West Cornwall, you'll be spoilt for choice when choosing where to visit while holidaying here. St Michael's Mount, The Minack Theatre, and St Ives harbour are just a few of the enthralling places on offer. The many golden sandy beaches that West Cornwall boasts are perfect for topping up the tan. For something a little more energetic, boat trips, fishing excursions and water sports are available. Museums and art galleries provide an equally enjoyable day out, with world famous exhibitions at the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth museum within easy reach.

With the bustling coastal towns of St Ives, Mousehole and Marazion within close proximity of one another, you can be sure to find somewhere to provide everything you need to the perfect family day out.

Walking

Cornwall's spectacular scenery provides the perfect backdrop for exploring. The coastal paths which hug the rugged cliffs offer breath taking sea views, while walking inland you can enjoy the many nature reserves, ancient stone circles and woodland, for which Cornwall is renowned.

Art & heritage

Famous for its quality of light, the area has long been a haven for artists and there are many galleries to be found wherever you go. There are also many gardens to enjoy; the mild climate will often let plants flourish here which you won’t find anywhere else in the country. For those wanting to dig a little deeper, there is also an amazing mining and maritime heritage which has done much to shape the county and its people as well as, it could be argued, the rest of the world.

The best property I have ever stayed in. Great location, beautiful and clean accomodation...and a really comfy bed!! I cannot revommend highly enough. Great communication from Aspects Holidays too.

I couldn't recommend Tilly's House more highly. The property was spotlessly clean and very modern in a beautiful rural area. We spent two marvellous weeks. A must visit!

Lovely place in a beautiful secluded and very peaceful location. Perfect base for the two of us and our dog for exploring both south and north coasts. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into the accommodation. Just a 15 minute drive to nearby St Ives. We would definitely consider another stay at Tilly’s House.

We really enjoyed our stay Tilly's House. Such a peaceful location, perfect if you want to escape to the country away from the hotspots and enjoy your night skies free from light pollution. Extremely comfortable bed (I made a note of the make for when we need a replacement!) Very dog friendly with secure outside garden and a field alongside for walkies. We would definitely recommend this group of brand new properties.

We absolutely loved our stay at Tilly’s cottage after staying in St Ives for the last 6 years, it was actually really nice to go somewhere just outside so we could explore the area a little more. The cottage was ABSOLUTELY spotless and the bed was incredibly comfy! The shower was fab too! It is beautifully decorated and in an amazing countryside setting.

It is out in the countryside and therefore a bit of a drive to go anywhere but there are plenty of things to do around it which we absolutely loved: -St ives is about a 20 minute drive away and we actually walked there from the cottage and got the train back. We found the walk on the OS map app. -the train station is a 5 minute drive away - there is a pub which is about a 20-30 minute walk away if you fancy an evening where you don’t have to drive. - we ate at a place called Country Skittles which was about 10 minutes in the car. Fabulous for families. There are lots of games there and you can order your food then have a game of skittles whilst you wait for it to cook. - Marazion: we went for a meal at The Fire Engine Inn which was beautiful however there is lots to do around here as well! You can see St Michael’s Mount from the pub garden. - Porthleven is about a 20 minute drive away. With beautiful walks and beaches around it. There are also some beautiful restaurants around the harbour.

We absolutely loved our stay at Tilly’s cottage and will definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful little self-contained barn conversion, off of the beaten track in a very tranquil setting. All brand new useful amenities, with an extremely comfortable bed and the most powerful power shower. Perfect for a couple on a short holiday. Handy location for many beautiful Cornish landmarks, beaches and walks. Would more than recommend, thoroughly enjoyed our break and would love to come back.

Tilly’s house is perfectly positioned with being only 20 minutes to st ives and Penzance. The property is beautifully decorated in the middle of no where and is so relaxing and quiet. We will 100% be back! The bed was so comfy and the power shower was epic.

Tilly’s house was everything we expected and better! Location was perfect if you want to be away from the busy parts of Cornwall, but close enough to explore. Thoroughly enjoyed, booked for next year!
