Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Visit at Christmas and experience the magical Mousehole Lights display!

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Mousehole Sea Salts & Sail Festival

Taking place every two years, this maritime festival celebrates Mousehole's fishing heritage with traditional sailing boat races and many other activities and entertainment for the whole family. 2014 was the festival's tenth biennial festival, taking place on the 11th, 12th & 13th July.  Read our blog post from the event here: Sea Salts and Sail Festival.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Read more about the History of Mousehole on our blog.

Places to visit near Mousehole

Venture near or far, with NewlynPorthcurno and Marazion all within a short drive or the cobbled streets of St Ives and the surfing beach of Sennen a little further away. Visit Penzance town to do some light shopping or head to Jubilee Pool to cool down after a long day of exploring. Wherever you want to go, our Mousehole self catering cottages make an ideal base from which to explore the towns and villages of West Cornwall.

Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

A beautiful large apartment decorated and equipped to a high standard, set in the perfect location for easily accessible days out both by car or foot. The view of the harbour and beyond is stunning and the early alarm to watch the sunrise was definitely worth it.

This apartment has the WOW factor. Very light and airy. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Highly recommend. ??

Another fantastic holiday in St Clements (this was our 4th stay). Exceptional apartment, furnished and equipped with high end appliances. En suite bathrooms for both bedrooms and a separate bathroom with a magnificent free standing bath. The kitchen is equipped with every appliance you might need and all top quality appliances. Very nicely decorated and beautiful soft furnishings throughout the apartment. The view from the apartment is the main attraction for us and offers a fantastic view of the harbour and out to sea. What more can I say - other than we have already booked for next year!

Another very enjoyable week staying in St. Clements. An amazing place to stay in both winter and summer.

We have stayed in Mousehole for the last 14 years and this was our first time staying at St Clements - WoW what a view!!! It’s amazing and made our holiday waking up every morning to see the harbour and life in Mousehole. We would definitely recommend St Clements. The seagulls will keep you on your toes!! Fingers crossed when the apartment is sold it says as a rental with Aspects. We can’t wait to come back.

St. Clements Apartment Mousehole. Still our favourite go to place. Always easy to arrange with Aspects. Thank You

The apartment is stunning and views are incredible. I already miss walking into the kitchen to that view every morning! The only thing that would stop us from going back would be the lack of parking and the fact you rely on getting a space in the pay and display car park every day which meant that we were hesitant to go and explore other places as we had a few really stressful experiences trying to find a space and getting stuck in those narrow roads. But this had nothing to do with the apartment as such. If you are happy to go, park up and just stick to mousehole then there would be no stress. We just found mousehole a little on the small side which is fully our own issue for not realising how tiny it is! That being said we were more than happy to stay in the apartment, it’s so beautiful and feels like you’re outside with all the natural light and so many windows. I would 100% recommend the apartment but as already mentioned, Mousehole itself was maybe a little quite for us. We had an issue with the bath leaking on the first night but this was very quickly resolved the following day and the members of staff I spoke to to let them know, were all really helpful and friendly. If you want to go to Mousehole, I can’t imagine a better property to stay at. We really do miss it already!

Very well appointed apartment in a fantastic location. Pity there was no outside area to sit in but hey ho you can't have everything. View over the harbour to die for.

Aspects were fantastic from start to finish. We stayed at st Clements ( lobster pot) and it was stunning, so much so that we’ve booked for next year, loved it.

We had a fantastic stay. The location is incredible, overlooking the harbour at the boats and the sea. The apartment is roomy and very well equipped and is a peaceful place to be if the weather is not so great, with some games and books to enjoy. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms nice and modern. We will definitely be coming back!

Stunning apartment with amazing views in beautiful Mousehole.Totally recommended-we will be back next year. Many thanks to the Aspects team-the flat was spotless.

This is the perfect place to rent in the winter months when you don't need an outside space but want a sea view; it's warm and cosy and the views are truly magnificent. It absolutely lives up to the photographs on the website. I'd go back in the blink of an eye.

If you want sea and harbour views, comfort, good kitchen and bathroom facilities and a lovely light filled place to start your day, this place is for you.

Beautiful apartment with views out of this world. This year it rained most of the week. No problem we just made more use of the beautiful apartment.

Watching the waves crashing on St Clement's Island was truly fantastic.

Aspect staff always willing to help if you need anything.

I would find it hard to believe that there is a holiday cottage in Cornwall that offers a more perfect combination of comfort, equipment and location than St. Clements. But then, I am biased. I first stayed at The Lobster Pot some 49 years ago, and it has been in and out of my life through many of the intervening years. When I first stayed at The Pot it was an eccentric establishment of two storeys, but, having been cobbled together out of two or three small cottages, there must have been at least six floor levels as one passed from cottage to cottage. The second floor, which now forms St. Clements, was not added until the 1980s, if I remember correctly, but that gives it the advantage of being all on a single level, which means that the conversion into the present apartment works exceedingly well. It is so comfortable and well equipped that on a dull, wet and windy day, such as the Monday of the week I stayed here, it is no hardship to stay put, potter and watch the world go by. When the weather is more amenable St. Clements is ideally placed for walking, and the circular route along the Coast Path to Lamorna (much eroded since I first knew it) and back via Castallack, Sheffield and Paul is just the thing to set you up for a good lunch or tea! These days I travel from my home in the Yorkshire Dales by train and getting about from Mousehole is no problem with buses to Penzance very twenty minutes, or an hour's walk to Penzance railway station.

What a beautiful apartment in a fabulous location. We loved Mousehole, especially watching the sunrise over the harbour. I don’t think I’d like to stay anywhere else. This was the perfect apartment and would definitely return.

One of the best apartments we have stayed in, position was perfect, the views from the kitchen and lounge second to none, we will be back Graham Button

A fabulous place, fantastic location with the view over the harbour. The house was really comfy and relaxing and would definitely stay there again...the wife would like to buy it if she could lol...!

Aspects holidays perfect in every way great to deal with

This was our third stay at St Clements and again, we loved every minute of our holiday. From the ease of booking with Aspects Holidays to the detailed arrival information/pack. The stunning apartment enjoys the most amazing views out to sea and around the beautiful harbour of Mousehole. The apartment is incredibly well presented and furnished with high end, quality appliances and furniture throughout. St Clements is spotlessly clean, with everything you could ever possibly need during your stay. There's a detailed pack in the apartment with instructions for all the white goods and appliances at St Clements, along with suggested places to visit and eat. We ate locally most nights and can highly recommend 2 Fore St (booking essential), Rock Pool Cafe (the most amazing views from here) and Four Teas Cafe. We also recommend walking from Mousehole to Lamorna Cove, using the coastal path. The route can be slightly challenging in some areas but well worth it for the fabulous views of the coast. We have already booked our fourth stay for next year.

This is a beautiful apartment with one of the finest views in Mousehole. We never fail to enjoy it's comforts'. However this year we felt let down by the standard of cleanliness.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are very sorry that there were some areas of cleaning that were not to the high level that you would have expected, we can only apologise if anything had been missed. Having now received this feedback, it was followed up with the housekeeper and there has since been a new housekeeper employed for this property. Thank you for letting us know and we are glad that you still had a great time and to hear how much you enjoy returning here. We look forward to seeing you back here soon. Tanya, Customer Services

A wonderful, relaxing, superb apartment with views to enjoy all day!

I almost don't want to write a review for St Clements - as telling people just how nice it is may mean that someone else books it when I want it again!

However, it's a fabulous holiday property, in the best possible location and with a view (and nice comfortable recliner) to die for!

I can't wait to book it again.

Shines like a diamond x

Under normal circumstances it is an idyllic week.

We are so sorry that there were so many problems with the boiler during your stay at St Clements. The team had tried to get this rectified as quickly as possible, but we understand how frustrating and inconvenient this would have been. I can see that Holly has been in touch with you since to apologise for this unfortunate situation, and again we would like to say how sorry we are that this was not the usual relaxing and stress free experience that you are used to at St Clements. Tanya, Customer Services

We were totally satisfied with just about everything at this property.

The property is excellent, really faultless and a lovely place to come back to after a big day out. By far the best place we’ve ever stayed at.

Fantastic apartment with stunning views of Mousehole and the coastline. Equipped to the highest standard and the wine, prosecco and cream tea were a lovely touch. The view from the front of the property is absolutely amazing and a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. We also took advantage of the parking permit offered by Aspects Holidays which allowed us to park in the Primary School yard and took all the stress of finding parking within Mousehole - well worth £30. We recommend a stay here and we hope to be back very soon. Great service from Aspects Holidays too.

A wonderful apartment to spend our holidays.

Superb location and amazing views. Very comfortable accommodation and a great place to relax.

Probably one of the best holiday apartments available in Mousehole -and the comfort platform was excellent -no reason for stress ....and the privacy was appreciated ....

An apartment with one of the best views in Cornwall in such a pretty village. Views over the harbour across Mounts Bay further to the Lizard. Never a dull moment. Boats coming and going in the harbour, seals on St.Clements island, gannets diving into the sea with the Scillonian ferry passingby. If your lucky experience the Penlee lifeboat on exercise perhaps with jointly with the coastguard helicopter.

Outstanding view of harbour. Having SKY TV was also a huge bonus during our stay over Christmas. A very luxurious, well equipped apartment - it was very hard to leave !

Shines like a diamond!!

Absolutely fantastic place to stay.

Mousehole is a great village to stay in and St Clements Apartment just puts the star on the tree.

Just don't choose our week

With out doubt the best positioned apartment in Mousehole.. Stunning interior with top spec furnishings and equipment. We didn't want to leave.

We had a brilliant holiday. Mousehole is so quaint and pretty. Our apartment exceeded our expectations and the views from the living areas are exceptional. Immaculately kept with the best quality appliances. The fresh flowers and cream tea on arrival, were a lovely touch too. We had an amazing time and we will be back - thanks to everyone at Aspects.

We had the most wonderful week staying in St Clements. The most beautiful views across the harbour and out to mounts bay. Would most definitely recommend staying here.

Despite wanting to keep this a secret location, this is the best accomodation and quality of facilities we've experienced in mousehole across the eight visits made and the views of the harbour and coastline are outstanding

St Clements shines like a diamond

St. Clements Apartment is such a relaxing place to stay.

We can't praise it highly enough as long as you don't want to take our week.

With views to die for, St Clements has a prime location and is without a doubt one of the best holidays we have enjoyed.

This is a fantastic apartment in a wonderful location. The owners have taken great care in furnishing the apartment and the result is simply stunning! We'd love to make a return visit.

Couldn't ask for more, a fantastic apartment in a stunning location. Owners have thought of everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The red roses and wine was a lovely touch for Valentines. A huge thank you for helping to make our week memorable .

Andy and Diane

It's brilliant

We absolutely loved our week at St Clements over Christmas. I can't praise it enough. The view from the kitchen window and main living area was magical - seeing the harbour lights come on each afternoon, watching gannets fishing off the rocks first thing, the waves crashing over the harbour wall - wonderful. The standard of kitchen equipment is extremely high and we were easily able to make cakes and cook the Christmas dinner here, as well as entertain the rest of our family who were staying at the apartment below (Harbours Reach) - because the sofa and armahciars were ample for 7 people, and there was enough kitchen crockery etc. The bed (main bedroom) was really comfortable with luxurious duvet, and the whole apartment was warm, bright and exceptionally clean. It was a very special Christmas, and a lovely place to celebrate one of our party's very special birthday on Chstrmas Eve! However - not a place to stay if you are overw eight or unfit or have any sort of disability, as it involves two flights of stairs - which we were very happy to run up and down and added to the charm!

We have nothing but the highest praise for the apartment. A thoughtful welcome pack. The property is warm, cosy and spacious. All the rooms have been fitted out to a very high standard. The location is marvellous with wonderful views onto the harbour and beyond. Despite the damp weather (fairly normal for November) we had a lovely, relaxing week in unspoilt Mousehole. Will definitely be looking to visit again.

Beautiful apartment excellant views in the centre of Mousehole yet hidden away what more could you ask for.

A perfect holiday property. A beautiful location and a property that helps you to soak up the views and tranquility.

St Clements is an amazing apartment in an idyllic location. The apartment is so well furnished & equipped with everything you could wish for. I loved cooking in the kitchen looking out at the fantastic view. A real retreat from all the stresses of everyday life! Second visit & won't be the last.

What an absolutely apartment, real WOW factor. What a view over the harbour..can't wait to return.

Nigel Hallard paintings are great(bought one),We can't believe there is a better apartment in Mousehole regardless of cost.

A wonderful apartment, with stunning views in a fabulous location.

The best appointed property I have stayed in Mousehole. High quality fixtures and fittings with a view to die for.

Another great trip to St clements. Our favorite cottage of all
