Holidays in Marazion

Marazion is perhaps best known for the famous St Michael's Mount that is perfectly silhouetted on a sunny day, however the town itself is worth a browse with some lovely shops and tea rooms. We recommend visiting in early Spring when the famous Cornish daffs are in full flower!

St Michael’s Mount sits majestically on an island out at sea and can be reached via a cobbled causeway at low tide or at other times by the 'St Michael' amphibious vehicle! Visit the sub-tropical gardens that surround the castle or step inside the castle walls to explore the myths and legends that surround this iconic landmark. Read more about St Michael's Mount or view our St Michael's Mount webcam.

Top tip

Be sure check the tide times when planning your visit to St Michael's Mount!

Marazion beach

Conveniently located a moment away from the world famous St Michael's Mount, Marazion beach is found in the heart of Mount's Bay, recently elected as one of the 'most beautiful bays in the world'. It’s the perfect beach for family holidays in Marazion, with cafés just above the sand, lifeguards on hand and clean and safe waters. Despite its beauty and convenience for holiday makers, it remains surprisingly quiet compared to other Cornish beaches. It’s perfect for beach and sea sports and you can even take your horse for a quick gallop across the sands! The long sandy beach that stretches towards Long Rock is a popular windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing spot amongst locals and holiday makers alike. Mount's Bay provides ideal conditions for watersports, and kite surfing and stand up paddleboarding lessons are available with Ocean High for those looking to make the most of the outdoors. Find out more things to do at Marazion Beach >

Venture Eastwards and you'll find Marazion Beach East, or Steps Beach. This dog-friendly beach is favoured by locals as it is quiet due to its limited access and rocky shore, but it is perfect for dog walking, and collecting driftwood after a storm. Children will enjoy the many rock pools when the tide is out. Accessible via Leys Lane or from Marazion beach if you don't mind climbing over the rocks!

Things to do in Marazion

Marazion Town Centre

A wander around Marazion itself is a must for those who love exploring shops. Marazion is an ancient market town with a rich history of smuggling, sea commerce and pilgrimage. Nowadays, the town has numerous galleries, gift shops and cafes along the winding streets with plenty of traditional architecture to look at along the way.

RSPB Nature Reserve - Marazion Marsh

Just a short walk from the town you will find Marazion Marsh, a freshwater habitat, which is home to Cornwall's largest reed bed. This nature reserve is extremely popular with bird watchers all year round and in winter, it's not uncommon to see thousands of starlings flocking here to roost on the marsh. Read more on our blog.

Marazion Museum

Located in the town hall, this fascinating museum features lots of local artifacts and interesting finds and information on this historic market town.

Marazion in Bloom

Every summer, the residents of Marazion put on a spectaular floral display from hanging baskets, window boxes and planters. Prizes are awarded for the best displays and locals compete for the award of best presented home and business property. This alone is well worth a visit.

Walks around Marazion

Located on the South West Coast Path, there are stunning walks across Mounts Bay to Penzance, and to Prussia Cove in the opposite direction. Walking inland, you have 'St Michael's Way'. Thought to be used by pilgrims wanting to avoid the treacherous waters around Land's End, this popular walk runs coast to coast from St Ives to Marazion. This 12 mile walk finishes at Marazion Marsh which can get quite muddy so be sure to bring appropriate footwear! Read more about walking in Marazion on our blog post: Walking in Cornwall: Marazion Walks.

Whether you're looking to dine out at a restaurant on a special occasion or simply grab a bite to eat to enjoy on the beach, you will find everything you need for a Marazion self catering holiday. From quaint delicatessen style cafes and up market fine dining, to traditional pubs, Marazion offers a wide selection of local Cornish cuisine, all within a short walk of one another. Hired as part of a larger family holiday and my parents, who have mobility issues we’re happy with everything in this house. Floors are all one level and the walk-in showers and size of bathrooms were an advantage.

Amazing house. Amazing location. Having looked at the photographs on the Web site we were impressed but once we arrived we were amazed by how much better the actual house was. The photographs don't give the full impression how lovely this property is. We have stay numerous houses and locations and by far this is the best. Having 4 floors there is so much space for a family of 4 with 2 children. The quality of all the fixtures and fittings are the best (such as electrical blinds on the windows), Tv's in the bedrooms, living room and kitchen area.

The kitchen and dining room was the space we use the most due to the layout and size running the full depth in the basement.

There is everything you would need in tge kitchen and don't need to bring anything.

We love the house so much before we even had left we have booked again to stay this Christmas.

The little village the house is located in is lovely with shops, pubs and restaurants in walking distance (2-3 min walk) with the beach within a 5 minute walk.

There is parking to the rear of the house and we were aware the alley way to access this was very narrow. We have a Vauxhall Grandland and managed to get through the gap. The first few times it takes a bit getting used to it but after a week of practice it was fine.

We can't recommend this house and location highly enough!!!

We enjoyed our time at Venton View, the location is fantastic in easy walking distance of the fabulous beach and local shops and restaurants. The house is well equipped and easily fits a large family. The house is over 4 floors so plenty of exercise!

We loved staying at Venton View.It was easily accessible to the town. Having one car park space was great although 2 would be nice. The bath towels were lovely. The bed linen lovely and all furniture was like being at home. having a little balcony ( really only for 2 ) was a really nice touch. The kitchen was really well provided for.All bath/shower rooms were of very high quality. Aspect dealt with very query we had and were unbelievably prompt at coming back to us even though we might have asked a question late on a Saturday evening. We really hope to be back soon.

Incredible house perfect for a group of 6. Location is incredible, close to the beach and you can hear the sea with the bedroom windows open. All the facilities are amazing and would highly recommend to anyone.

Would highly recommend paddle boarding at the Hoxton Special and brunch at the Godolphin is amazing.

An excellent home in an excellent location. Cannot fault facilities. Exceptionally clean and well equipped. Plenty of stairs to keep you fit but certainly not a problem for fit and able people. Location in Marazion is brilliant with excellent bus service for anyone without a car. Would love to visit again.

Great family holiday once again. We all love Venton View as it gives everyone (parents plus young adults) space to do their own thing but also great communal areas to play games, eat or watch a film together. Location is perfect - allowing car free days. We will be back next year.

This property has plenty of space for a family as it is over four floors. Venton View is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Marazion and a short walk to the beach. The parking spot is currently behind the property and this requires you to negotiate a very tight turn off Fore Street along a narrow lane to get to the parking behind the house. (We have a Vauxhall Zafira and had to fold the wing mirrors in to get down the lane between the houses.)

A great property close to the heart of Marazion, well equipped and tastefully decorated with a courtyard garden and view of the sea and St Michael's Mount. A good location for exploring Cornwall. Lots of local shops with a really good selection of craft goods and art. There is no parking by the property, but parking is only 5 minutes away. Local food was limited as we were there during covid restrictions, but plenty of places within a short drive. We are considering booking again for next year.

Lovely house, great location. Really enjoyed out 2 week stay here. They have furnished the house to a very high standard to make it as comfortable as possible. Close by to the beach and town centre. Your be happy

Lovely for a family holiday, perfect for walks and sunsets on the nearby beach.

What a fantastic find. Great location and only a few minutes walk to beach and restaurants. Extremely clean house and contains everything you will ever need for your holiday. Fantastic sea views from every room. Will definitely be booking again here next year. Thanks for a great holiday Martin and Karen and Colby doggy.

Wonderful stay. Perfect for families and dog owners. With dog friendly beaches and great places to walk. We'll equipped kitchen and games for all ages. Be mindful of the many stairs though and keep your phone on you incase you forget something you may need to phone a friend. Highly recommend the Godolphine hotel for hearty breakfast and the best cappuccino I've ever had.

Thank you for your review; it sounds like you had a fantastic time here in Marazion and at Venton View. It certainly is a lovely property in an absolutely amazing spot in the beautiful village of Marazion. We always try to be as open and honest as possible, and try to give an accurate representation of properties within our photos and descriptions, so hope that we have achieved that in this case, with our description of the property being over 4 floors and steep stairs to the kitchen. We are glad that despite all the stairs, it still worked well for you, even if you did need to keep your mobile on you just in case ;-) Tanya, Customer Services

As always Aspects outdid our expectations, Venton View was a wonderful holiday home, clean, comfortable, very well presented and a pleasure to come back to after a day exploring the local beaches and attractions.

Venton View was a good house to spend a week in with our children. There was space for us all to relax and it was comfortable.

Great location to visit the area. Really well stocked kitchen. Lots of crockery and glassware. Lovely bedrooms all with en suite perfect for us and our grown up children. Being over four floors meant there was lots of space to spread over. The outside space was lovely too. No car parking at the property but just a short walk away. Couple of good pubs very close by. Would definitely recommend.

Venton View is a lovely house most suitable for families with older children. It is arranged on four floors but the basement stairs are rather precarious so not very suitable for the very old or very young. The accommodation is generous but there are lots of stairs which can be a little inconvenient! The standard of decoration was excellent and the house was very well equipped particularly in the kitchen. The sea views are oblique but can be seen from most aspects of the house. There was a feeling that this was a 'loved' house and the owners had made a real effort to make it an enjoyable place to stay. So we did!

Absolute perfection. Definitely coming back! The house is stunning and the location is perfect! Felt very sad to leave. :-)

Stunning property that is family friendy. Has all mod cons and is a joy to be in.

You can use either the car park beside the Godolphin hotel,or the car park the other side marked st aubyns estate. You can’t really tell from looking at google maps. Once we found the parking we were fine. Although the property itself was absolutely stunning,it may be also worth stressing that the steps are really narrow and steep from the kitchen to the street level/living room and there are 39 steps (yes we counted lol???????) from kitchen to rooftop bedroom. Whilst it wasn’t a huge problem to us,we are used to narrow and steep stairs because we too live in a cottage with narrow and steep stairs, but it may be to some. Not great tho if you forget a pair of socks lol and you’ve just come down from dressing. We absolutely loved our time at venton view, and came to find the quirks hilarious after a time. I would enjoy our daily walk to the car with our dogs because it would mean after a day out relaxing and enjoying all that cornwall has to offer,we would be coming “home” to venton view. ?????? Will definitely be staying again in the future. Thanks to the owners, for such a super place to stay in,you have a stunning property, that you have changed/converted/built and beautifully maintained ?????? It was one of the most memorable places we have stayed, and we couldn’t have asked for better. Thankyou to the owners and aspects holidays for your help. We had a fab time. And ??saffie and baillie?? enjoyed it too, their favourite place was the couch in the kitchen and the free run of the garden without any escapes. ???????????? ??????

Thank you for your comments; it's great to hear how much you enjoyed it there. We have since added a note to make it clearer about the parking on arrival, and made it clearer within our description, about the steepness of the stairs from the kitchen, so thank you for raising those points. We hope that we will see you, Saffie and Baillie back here very soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Great location. Fabulous views from the top bedroom. Well stocked welcoming kitchen. Lovely comfortable home from home.

Venton View is everything we look for in holiday accommodation...and more! We felt at home the minute we walked through the door, we couldn't have asked for better accommodation. We really appreciated that the property was so high spec and well equipped and the owners made everything available to use, adding to the 'home from home' feel. We will definitely be returning to Venton View.

Venton View is a real home from home, beautifully restored to a very high standard of extreme comfort.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful place. A home away from home.

Perfect cottage location with spectacular sea views - modern comfortable decor a true family house - the owners have thought of everything thank you - we didn't want to go home !

Well equipped cottage with stunning views from 3windows, watching sea change with the weather was amazing. Nice location for Marazion and Penzance.

After staying in several cottages this year and them not meeting our expectations ( not as described) To arrive at Venton view and find it better then advertised was amazing, clean modern and comfortable lots of space everything you need is all there, could of quite happy stayed for longer will definitely book again
