The Shippon

£380 - £887 per week

Your holiday starts as soon as you approach The Shippon, along the quiet, private lane. Set in a tranquil spot in West Cornwall, you’ll be perfectly placed to embrace the relaxed, slow pace of Cornish living. Breathe in the scent of a flower-filled garden and enjoy a dreamy Cornish sunset, or snuggle up by the flickering flames of the woodburner. The two elegant bedrooms provide sanctuaries of slumber, where guests can enjoy a restful night’s sleep. Start the day with an invigorating shower in the master suite and enjoy your morning coffee on the patio, taking in the fresh, countryside air.

The Shippon is just a short distance from both the north and south coasts, with the coastal towns of Hayle, Marazion, St Ives and Penzance within easy reach. Explore the miles of glorious coastal pathways or learn to surf on one of West Cornwall’s golden, sandy beaches. The hustle and bustle of everyday life will seem far away as you listen to the birdsong each morning and enjoy the kaleidoscope of colours as the sun rises. The spacious garden is perfect for enjoying picnics on the lawn, or enjoy a glass of something chilled in the summer house, which is tucked away in a peaceful spot at the end of the garden. Spend cooler evenings indoors, cosied up under a soft, wool blanket on one of the sumptuous velvet sofas, the glow of the woodburner providing a relaxing ambience. Refreshing country air and the idyllic surroundings of The Shippon provide a setting in which you can truly unwind.

July 2021

The shippon is such a lovely house. It’s in a very peaceful location, the only noise we heard was the noise we made. The house was very clean and well equipped. The garden is a very good size and a lovely place to sit in the sun with a coffee or glass of wine. The master bedroom was also lovely, very big with views out to the garden and the countryside. We would definitely book the shippon again.

Hayle Holidays

In Hayle town you will find a range of shops and bars, a supermarket, charming local pubs and the ‘famous’ Mr B's ice-cream parlour, providing you with a wide range of options for a self catering holiday. The King George V Memorial Walk can be found in the centre of Hayle and is a lovely, level walk, planted with a wonderful selection of unique trees which creates a leafy canopy around the edge of Copperhouse Pool, a large tidal water now a site of special scientific interest. Being just a short drive to harbour and beach towns of St Ives, Penzance, Mousehole, Porthleven and Marazion, a self-catering holiday in Hayle promises a holiday to remember.

Hayle is renowned for its 3 miles of golden sands, which stretch from Hayle Estuary to Gwithian Towans and Godrevy Point. With good surfing and great views, this safe, unspoilt beach is popular with kite buggies and sand yachts, but as it is lifeguarded in Summer, is a great place to spend a family day out. Find out more and discover other Sandy Beaches in West Cornwall.

Hayle Estuary RSPB Nature Reserve

Great for bird watching all year round, the Hayle Estuary is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). In Autumn and Winter, thousands of birds migrate here due to it being the most south-westerly estuary in the UK, meaning it never freezes. The estuary provides a great place for walks, but dogs must be kept on a lead to avoid any disturbance to the wildlife. Find out more about the Hayle Estuary.

Paradise Park

If the birds on the Estuary are a little too distant for your liking, Hayle's Paradise Park allows you to get up close and personal with wildlife of both the feathered and furry varieties. With a large indoor adventure play area, a gorgeous cafe - and even an onsite pub, this is one for the whole family.

Hayle in Bloom

Throughout the summer, the Hayle community comes together to put on a wonderful floral display throughout the town. With an award from the South West in bloom competition at stake, and with fierce competition from neighbouring towns, Hayle pulls out all the stops in an attempt to retain its Gold medal, which it has won for 8 consecutive years!

Hayle Raft Race

In July, the locals wear fancy dress and take part in the annual raft race on the Regatta pool. Climbing aboard homemade rafts, partakers battle it out and race to the finish in an attempt to secure one of the winners trophies. Spectators can enjoy the bbq and bar on offer, and the bouncy castle and stalls mean there's plenty for the kids to enjoy. A fun day out for everyone. Read more about Hayle Raft Race

A lovely place and cottage. A little out of the way. But if you want a lovely quiet location it's well worth a look. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely accommodation, we certainly recharged our batteries. Take care with the unmade road - it really is unmade!! We would certainly stay again, maybe bringing a sturdier car!!

Delightful and well appointed cottage with lots of appliances. The garden and summerhouse were a real bonus. Quiet location with other converted barns. Access track could do with some repair work.

The Shippon is such a lovely cottage, tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet only a few minutes away by car from Hayle and St Ives . We had a lovely relaxing stay here. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and restorative stay.

My family have just returned from a wonderful short break at the Shippon. The cottage is beautiful, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The location was great for exploring much of Cornwall, we visited Porthcurno, Praa Sands, Tanglewood Gardens and Mousehole all in one weekend! We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend booking this lovely cottage.

We had a lovely stay at the shippon, it was very peaceful and a lovely house to stay in, The garden was really nice also plenty of room for parking, we enjoyed many coastal walks which were at the most 30 minutes away by car. I would love to use the shippon again and will definitely suggest it to family and friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Shippon! Cottage is absolutely beautiful, very well equipped and everything is of a very high standard too! It has everything you could possibly need. The added feature of a parking space and back garden was a great bonus too. We loved the welcome basket too... Thank you! Location is great... It's close enough to enjoy Hayle and St Ives at just a short drive away, but far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle too and just sit and listen to the birds and cows mooing away.

We will definitely be booking here again!
