Bridge Cottage offers an idyllic break from the old routine, being the perfect escape, allowing one to wind down and appreciate the simpler things in life. Days can be enjoyed at a slower pace, in a quintessentially Cornish cob cottage, full of charm and character with many original features. The cottage garden is the ideal spot for an al fresco breakfast, whilst enjoying the peace and quiet, and the beautiful creekside location. Comfortably furnished with a woodburner in the sitting room for cosy nights in, snug and homely, Bridge Cottage is the perfect place for families and their four-legged friends to just relax and enjoy a slice of Cornish life. Fall asleep listening to the owl in the trees, and wake up ready for an amble by the stunning creek, just moments from the door. This glorious cottage offers guests tranquillity and the opportunity to enjoy the delights of this hidden part of Cornwall.

Maybe the beautiful creekside setting will inspire you to hire kayaks and enjoy the splendour of the water, perhaps lunch at the Pandora Inn, before kayaking back? Bridge Cottage is in a great location, ideally placed for day trips to the north or south coast of Cornwall. Sailing on the River Fal or surfing one of the wilder north coast beaches are all easy to do. Truro is close by for those seeking some retail therapy, whilst Falmouth hosts some beautiful beaches and a myriad of fine restaurants and cafes to try out. It is a perfect retreat for a restful break away from city lights and busy lifestyles, but with many attractions just a short drive away and the fabulous creekside walks just on the doorstep, you can be as lazy or as active as you please.

We had a lovely two weeks at Bridge Cottage. So well located for Falmouth and Truro with access to St Mawes via the King Harry ferry, Trelissick garden and Trebah garden nearby. Lovely and quiet day and night with convenient parking space. Good dog walking along the creek. Well maintained cottage and garden that gets the sun. Good for star gazers on clear nights. Recommended.

September 2023

The property was lovely, superb location and a wealth of activities to pursue in the area. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of space for clothes and accessories. A small enclosed garden at the back was great in the evenings - would definitely come and stay again!

Holidays in South Cornwall

Self catering in South Cornwall is ideal for exploring. With an abundance of coastal walks and activities on the doorstep, there's a wide selection of things to do that will take your fancy. South Cornwall offers a blend of secluded villages and vibrant harbour towns such as Falmouth.

Staying in South Cornwall presents an interesting dilemma. On one hand, you have the busy, vibrant town of Falmouth with its rich maritime heritage and vibrant nightlife. On the other hand, travel in either direction along the coast and you will soon find yourself forced inland by a waterway. This is what makes many holiday cottages in South Cornwall relatively inaccessible, but persevere and you will be rewarded by some of the most untouched and tranquil holiday experiences in the county.

Let the roads and lanes lead you where they will – this is what holidays in South Cornwall are all about – you never know what you might find!

Did you know...

The stretch of coast from St Austell to St Mawes has long been named the 'Cornish Riviera', due to its sheltered coves, calm, clear waters and bustling villages.

Why visit South Cornwall?

There’s an almost endless range of sports and activities available for you to enjoy in Cornwall to suit all tastes, ages and abilities.

Cornwall remains a Mecca for surfers with surf schools available for those who want to give it a go or take their skills up to the next level. There are also many other watersports to try, including scuba diving, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing or dinghy sailing.

Stay in South Cornwall, and you’ll be perfectly placed to visit the breathtaking Lizard Peninsula. This area of outstanding natural beauty is the inspiration for many artists and authors, and it’s easy to see why.

The Roseland peninsula heritage coast is another beautiful area of the South coast. It’s one of the most unspoilt areas in Britain, and as such is the perfect place to explore.

With the Helford River and the River Fal nearby, this area of Cornwall has a distinct character of its own, with many small fishing villages nestled amongst sandy beaches and lush countryside. By contrast, Falmouth is a bustling harbour town, which provides a great day out for all the family. From shark fishing to exploring the gardens of Trebah, you won’t be short of things to do.

Venture further North along the South Coast and you’ll be well placed to visit the famous Eden Project, the Lost gardens of Heligan, and the stunning Caerhays Castle, which are all well worth a visit, wherever you choose to stay on a self catering holiday in South Cornwall.

A beautiful cottage with a very pretty garden; just like a postcard cottage. We loved the quirkiness and character of this listed building. A plus point is the off road parking. Although the cottage is situated near a road, it is so quiet and peaceful. Bridge Cottage is also positioned near to Truro and to the King Harry ferry. There are some lovely walks and the area is very dog friendly. We enjoyed our week and loved this part of Cornwall.
